Ladies doing IUI or IVF - 2016 (11 BFPs so far!)

I'm so sorry Lil. That is strange about your cycle, I can't imagine why antibiotics would affect it as basically changes are down to hormone changes but the timing is odd. I'm on the antibiotics for the 3rd time now and it's never changed anything with me. You may have mentioned this before but has your OH had his sperm tested? x

Syd, how come you are on the antibiotics a 3rd time. ?, Serum told me I wouldn't need to take them again unless I caught pregnant ?, seems odd. Same as you I'm now wondering if its a problem with my OHs sperm, but he does have 3 children and is on Wellman conception vitamins. He does however use one of those vape things with 11mg nicotine. He did go to his Dr to ask for a sperm test but his useless Dr didn't know how to do it so was going to ask the ladies at the desk but as my OH knows them he was too embarrassed and chickened out saying not to bother !, bloody men, so unfortunately thats as far as it got .xx

Ah ok, I didn't realise he had children already. In the absence of a sperm test wellman vitamins are good :)

Yes that's right for the antibiotics - you go back on them for natural pregnancy or ivf round so my first lot was when I tested positive, my second lot was when I fell pregnant naturally end August and now third lot for my ivf round. x

Ah, I see regarding the antibiotics, I was told it's different antibiotics once you catch pregnant ?. Yes my OH has a 24yr old, 11yr old and an 8yr old. I think the main problem is my age and my health issues, I have M.E and suffer chronic insomnia, but I was expecting to catch pregnant at least 2 or 3 times over 3yrs. Back in my 30's, I caught so easily without even trying, it's all so frustrating.

I forgot to say that my OH has been on those Wellman conception vitamins for around 2yrs, looking likely it is me who just won't catch due to my age, just wish I had met my OH many years ago. xx

Good luck with this round Syd, I'm not too far behind you xx

I'm cd28 and waiting for my period to begin and then I can start my fet meds.
Hoping this is the one if not we either give up or have to save up for some cycles.. I currently can't work so it's basically impossible to save :(

Anyone have any tips for how to stay sane in the 2ww after transfer?
I've been preparing by getting together a list for myself of do's and dont's.. as well as a to do list to try to keep me busy and keep my mind off it!

Video games
That's my escape from tww when I'm going into my psyco-am-I-pregnant-hangup.
So.. February is gonna be three weeks of constant videogames for me  gonna take time off work to be able to relax and give the embryo some good energy.
Eventually you could organize your clothes, do a clean-up-day, binge-watcg tv-shows

Video games are my ideal way to spend to tww.. but I've said to myself this time I don't want to sit on my butt for the whole time. Plus they can get a little stressful (well the games I play lol).
But then I did get pregnant the month I played a intense month long game tournament while sat on my butt..
I've got some really boring things on my list like cleaning the fridge, sorting through drawers.. hoping I'll come up with enough to keep me occupied

Well.. start making a list of once-in-a-while-chores right now so you've got a really huge one when tww starts :dust:

It's slowly growing..! It's difficult cause I don't work so most chores and stuff are already done lol.

Congrats may Lin

Sorry to hear that Lilith

Yesterday I saw the consultant at my hospital who confirmed my eggs seem to be poor quality and that I have about a ten percent chance per cycle. Also, my frozen eggs have a 1% chance of working each and will need icsi to use them (why did nobody mention either of these points before?!)

He stated talking about donor eggs, but I'm not mentally there with that idea yet.

Any advice from anyone? Should I try a different clinic to get some answers on the egg quality?

Feeling sad tonight x

Evening girls,

Day 9 Stims and feeling so bloody shitty!
Good news though, my scan Friday showed at least 12 follicles on my right and 5 on my left. All measuring between 10-12mm. Womb lining 7.6mm
Next scan on monday! Xx hoping egg collection on Friday day.

Those are fantastic results at this stage ccw, best of luck for next week!

Hi everyone, the scan went well. The scan showed some bleeding near the implantation site and I was told it would likely absorb on its own. Went for the 8+3 scan on weds and all was fine. Only one baby on board. It was bitter sweet because I wanted both my babies. But I'm grateful with the blessing God has given me.

Syd (or anyone?) what do your clinics say about dtd around transfer day? We won't dtd in the tww but can't remember what they said about the weeks and days before it? Seem to get mixed views from googling about it!

We're cd5 of our fet now. Have a scan on cd12 to check the lining

Millie, I’ve never been given advice but what i’ve most often seen is couples being told they should dtd the night before. Not sure why but lots of clinics seem to recommend it. Having said that I’m not sure about fet’s, were you down reg’d? I guess if it was a natural cycle fet you would run the risk of multiples. Sorry, that’s probably not much help.

Mrsbass, really glad to hear everything is looking good.

Lil, it’s the same antibiotics if you get a bfp, one of the two types taken before anyway, just a lower dose.

Tinsel, so sorry you had a rubbish consultation, can you remind me how old you are and if you have had amh tested and afc scan done? I would definitely seek a second opinion, especially if you’re not ready to move on to DE. Do you mind me asking which Clinic you’re with now?

I don’t really have any tips for the tww I’m afraid. I found going to work didn’t help, I just couldn’t concentrate. This time I’m taking some time off, stopping in Abu Dhabi on the way home to chill out in the warm for a few days and then back to Hong Kong for a few days off at home.

Nope, no down reg. Just on Oestrogen to build lining. Think it stops ovulation as well? No idea!

I read some say to dtd the night before but then some said not to because it could cause infection?

Ahhh!

Ah, they tell you not to dtd after egg collection due to infection risk but I've not heard that around ET. I would check with the clinic to be sure.

I would make a call and ask your doctor!

I'll ask them at our lining scan and see what they say

Trying not to think about it now as it's probably a week or more away yet but the transfer ughhh!
They're sticking with me needing sedation because of my awkward cervix.. so I have the fear of being sick afterwards and the horrible experience of having to hold pee for longer than a regular transfer :(
Oh body please don't let us down and make it worth it...!

Hi Syd!

I'll be 40 in a few months. My AMH was tested about a year & half ago and was something like 9.5 then. I've been taking CoQ10 for over a year now. They are getting an acceptable number of eggs at collection, but the quality has been dire. Last time there was just 1 viable embryo the day after collection.

What's an afc scan?

I'm currently with GSTT, but thinking maybe I should look elsewhere (e.g. Zita West?)

xx
