***July 2019 Mummies***

Hey girls.
How is everyone doing? I just wanted to find out do yoy take any extra vitamins ? I only take folic acid with witamin d which my midwife gave me but since we found out we are having twins i am constantly worried should i be taking some others? My midwife app is booked for 12 th of feb ,and i expected it to be changed to sooner one since i have twins but no. Don't even have her phone nr . Just worried that babies are not having enough :(

The consultant told me yesterday that normal prenatal vits are ok. She started me on asprin to prevent pre eclampsia and said they like to get twin mums on it before 16 weeks.

Thank you girls. Emmacharlotte with normal do you mean just folic acid and vitamin d ? Or i better pop in boots tomorrow and buy some multivitamins.

Pregnacare has everything you need including folic acid (unless you require a higher dose)

I've been taking the boots brand of prenatal vitamins (basically the same as pregnacare but cheaper). They have folic acid, vitamin d, and all other things you would need during pregnancy like iron and calcium etc. Don't take a normal multivitamin as they'll also contain high amounts of vitamin A which isn't recommended when pregnant.

That does seem late! Lets hope baby is still inside then so you get your money worth! X

Oh I'm not paying for it luckily as it's available on NHS here! In Northern Ireland they've started new antenatal classes with your midwife appointments built in at the same time. You can opt to do it or just have regular midwife apps without the classes... thought I'd enjoy going along and meeting other mums to be even if the class isn't that great! But yes, I hope baby is still in there at that point!

I take the pregnancy one from super drug. Contains all the same stuff as the expensive brands, but for a fraction of the price. Eating cereals, fruits and veg also helps. Cereals and breads are often fortified with extra vitimins.

Had a bit of cramping today on my left side exactly where baby is. Loads of discharge too. Just put the Doppler on and struggled to find baby so think it may have moved a little. Found him/her in the end. Bit of peace of mind!

Oh sugarpop hope it is just growing pain. Have you phoned your doctor ?
Doppler is such a good thing but i wonder how would it work with twins? Any twin mums to be have it?

I’m happy that it’s just a bit of normal pain as nothing too extreme. More like aches really. Hubby just thinks baby is growing & muscles are doing a bit of a move around.

Not sure how the Doppler would work for twins unless they were on opposite sides. I’m quite lucky that baby is always in the same sort of area (to my left). I also have a heart murmur so can be pretty sure when I hear baby and when I hear my heart beat

Sounds like NI have the right idea with antenatal classes. Would be great to meet mums to be aswel. Im torn between doing classes. I had my heart set on hypnobirthing, but debating whether I will get the most out of it due to 50% twins being a c section (which Im desperate to avoid).

I saw my consultant on wednesday and she said using a doppler with twins is quite tricky due to not knowing if you are ever picking up both babies or just one. So she didnt attempt it unfortunately.
Its easy to tell if you are picking up baby's hb though as it is much faster than our heart rate and sounds like a train whereas the placenta will be much slower. I hope at some point my midwife or consultant attempt to listen to them!

Aww thats a shame we don't get to her it :( so it is no point of me buying one then as i probably will hear only one anyway. At least we get to have more scans and see them more often :) did you get scanned on your cosultant appointment?

It may be different with your midwife and consultant, so you may still get to.

My regilar scans start at 20 weeks and are every 4 weeks. I have a scan of my cervix on Tuesday to check its length. But nothing now until 20 weeks.

Yeh it's great having it available on NHS here. they also have hypnobirthing classes on NHS too but I don't think I'm going to go for them. My labour plans are just to turn up at the hospital and see what happens... like you said it could end up being a c section, especially for you, so it may be a waste in the end. I just don't think hypnobirthing is for me and apparently it's difficult to get a place anyway as they get booked up so quickly.

Do your Sonographers not listen to them? Mine did at my 13 week scan. Private scan places also do it to if you ask.

So some big decisions have been made recently.
1. I'm quitting my job. There's a number of things going on, and I'm at the point where I just want out now. My money is going down and I've got nowhere to progress now.
2. We're 90% certain we'll be relocating to live with my parents for a bit. Low living costs and my mum is more than happy to have the baby there if we haven't moved out by then.

It all hinges on my OH getting a job he's interviewing for here soon. Big pay increase if he gets it.

I feel guilty as part of me is hoping it falls through as I'm just ready to go home under the safety of mum's roof (even if she drives me insane!). I truly feel it'll be a fresh start for us that'll be best for the baby as well. I keep saying to the OH that what we want is no longer the deciding factor: what is best for the baby is. I want to give him the chance to make it work here though where his friends and family are.

Hope everyone is doing well. Happy I'm now over 14 weeks, but paranoid as symptoms have vanished! (I know that's normal though).

I'm due my 3rd baby on 20th July although I always get induced 2-3 weeks early due to being high risk. Already have 2 boys and haven't found out the gender of this baby yet! Xx

Hey, hope your all well. Noticed some of you dont see mw until further on, wonder of its different because im in the north and theyve made me an appointment at 16 weeks just to check how im getting on.
Private gender scan booked at 16 weeks, 12 days to go ahhh x
