July 2019 mummies

Had my booking in appointment today. I’m “high risk” but knew that anyway.

They took blood and oh my word she was useless! I am literally bruises all over my arm!

My veins are rubbish. Midwife tried one arm then decided to send me to walk in phlombotomist instead. Maybe request that next time? They have smaller needles so much easier to get done. Midwives and general gp surgeries don't usually have the fine needles. I got really lucky as both arms are somehow not bruised and I'm usually horrific for it!

I'll eventually have to book a glucose tolerance test with them too as my mum's diabetic. Hate bloods so much because of my awkward veins.

Happened to me too! Left my booking appointment with a huge bruise on my arm (took over 2 weeks to heal) and a traumatised midwife from the blood that went everywhere... only to be called in the following week as they had to repeat them due to a spelling mistake!

Does being high risk mean you will be be monitored more closely?

My mum is also diabetic so I've to do the glucose test too... not looking forward to multiple blood tests on the same day! Also heard the stuff you have to drink isn't the nicest...

Scan didn't go fully to plan. Baby is measuring great size, infact ahead of my dates, but the nuchual fold was on the high end of normal so waiting on bloods tomorrow to see the risk and plan any further testing.

Gunna be quiet until I know the outcome. Not the emotions I wanted to be feeling today.

Aww marvellous mum. Sorry to hear this. I’m sure everything will be fine though! I looked at this just myself yesterday to see what a “normal” measurement was after my scan & a lady said her measurement was 9mm & she went on to have a perfectly healthy baby. Fingers crossed all is well x

Hi ladies - seem to be a bit late to the party, but I’m due (apparently - expecting it to change after our scan) on 22nd July! This is my first pregnancy and honestly I feel fully under-prepared for it! Absolutely did not expect to be feeling so rubbish, constantly feel as though I have sea sickness (although not been sick yet, thankfully!) and never been so exhausted in my life! Hope you’re all feeling well(ish) - excited to hear how everyone is going to get on!

Sorry to hear this Marvellous, but just remember that these things only show there is the possibility of risk of something, it doesn't mean it will necessarily be a bad outcome. Hopefully all will be ok. When will you find out more?

Congratulations and welcome Shona! There's a few of us in here first time pregnancy. I agree with you, I didn't expect that I would be feeling this bad at all! Hopefully it calms down for you soon and you start to feel better! :)

Iv not slept properly and Im literally staring at my phone willing it to ring.

I couldn't fault how amazing the sonographer and team were yesterday.
I will know my risk factor today and then we go from there.

Beautiful scan photo! Hopefully you'll end up having a low risk factor and all will be ok, keep us updated. Thinking of you.

That's a few of you being moved into June now!

Lissa, I'm so sorry:( sending you hugs!

Marvellous, sorry to hear you're going through such a worrying time. Did they say what the nuchal fold measured? Sending you hugs and keeping everything crossed all is well xx

So we have our results. Baby is low risk of downs, triostomy 13 and 18. Still under consultant for the foreseeable but that means more scans and closer eye on baby. Which is a good thing.

Genetics are still investigating (I'm a carrier of a issue) but unless they give me good reason to, no amnio is needed.

Hi all,
Sorry ive been quiet, I've been on hospital all week with sickness and being artificially hydrated. I haven't been able to stomach looking at my phone screen. Its been quite nice to put my feet up and stop feeling quite so sick.
Sorry to hear the sad news Lissa, sending love.

Marvellous sounds like a positive outcome to 24 hours of worry! And who doesn't love more scans!

Hope everyone is ok and ready for christmas!
Xx

That's great news Marvellous, so glad to hear it. And yes more scans can only be a good thing!

I'm glad you've decided to stay with us here as I'm sad to see ladies leaving to the June thread when I feel I've got to know them a bit on here! So please do stay with us even if you also join the June thread. :)

My nausea seems to be getting a little better during the day time now as I'm managing to eat to keep it under control... but it seems to be worse in the evenings and I've actually started vomiting every evening this past week now too :( exhaustion is still going strong too, but im now off work for two weeks so looking forward to relaxing, catching up on housework, and my brothers wedding in the new year!
