*July 2018 Mummies*

Yeah I do agree with GG. It seems apparent that this is not just 3rd trimester Braxton Hicks...your body definitely seems to be gearing up for the main event! Just keep calling if concerned and just go in to hospital if they keep telling you to stay at home. Honestly once you're there, they'll have to assess you, right?

Haha Shep I'll be here at 40+14 knowing my luck. 30 mins isn't too bad at least, ours is roughly the same. Though I've never had to actually drive to the hospital while being in labour, a bit nervous about that lol Xx

I can't believe babies are starting maybe to come from our little group...I still remember everyone posting their 3+ on the tests!!

Hey Shan, does your hospital still wait til 42 weeks to induce? Leeds has recently changed policy in the last year - now they will only let you go to 41 weeks and induce you 7 days after due date - which is a relief to me! Can't imagine going TWO WEEKS over your due date.

So am gonna have a breakdown soon, dd had a nap at half 10 so I got the duvet and pillow and had half hour nap of settee, since I woke up I've had basically no pain... Had like little niggles but nothing painful. WTF. I'm still wiping blood when i wee tho. Says on google bloody show means labour should start within hours or Max a couple days... IDK what else the blood could be? Keeps changing from red, pink and brown sometimes stringy... Pink on my pad barely there.
Hubby and my mom are worries and want me to go in, but i don't see much point? Baby seems OK in there.

PB It really does sound like your plug from that description hun. Did you get a cervical examination? How are you now? Either way you definitely deserve to be seen and reassured. Especially with the state you're in, I'm pretty mad for you they seem to be so blasé about leaving you in so much distress and pain! xx

Im actually not sure hun. I'll ask tomorrow at my 36 week. I've always kept my head in the sand about going overdue lol. Ivy was early, I can't imagine going two weeks over either. It's possible it's not actually policy now here either. OH was 21 days overdue which seems absolutely insane now!! Xx

Wow PB, sounds to me like you are definitely in some sort of early labour - inexperienced though I am. Doesn't sound that normal to me! Hopefully things will move and resolve definitively in either direction soon though. I've just had pangs of period like cramps in the last half an hour. Gosh, I know they say this can happen in the last few weeks, but I'm only 32+6, making me nervous!

Do those pangs last very long or are they over quickly?

I've never had a period pain in my life, so I have no idea what they feel like, but from about week 31, I started getting horrid pains down there in that area and sometimes to the point I would be doubled over for a few moments, but have been reassured it is just baby pressing on nerves and I've kind of hot used to it now. Some are like fanny daggers, some are covering a broader uterine area and I have to hols myself. I started getting lower back pain recently, different to my pelvic pain. Saw midwife yesterday and she said that if the back pain coincides with period type pain and a tightening of the uterus, that is an early labour sign, but if the back pain is there with nothing else, it's just pregnancy pressure.

I get BH that can last from 1 to 3 hours now and it's so fucking annoying, but it's normal for me. At coming up 33 weeks, I'd say to keep a mental note of what becomes normal for you and your body so that you can know when to make a call. My BH aren't normal, but some women just get them this way, but I know that and can be happy with how I am feeling. If they suddenly changed, I'd know to make a call.

It's such a minefield isn't it.

Well GG first of, so jealous you've never had period pain before! It's very hard to explain its like an aching cramping kind of pain. From what you've described I would say sounds like period pain!

Your midwife definitely sounds really helpful and knowledgeable. I mentioned all those symptoms (back pain, tightening and period pain) to mine yesterday and she said it's the cervix getting ready, but I do wish she checked me over! Seeing consultant tomorrow and growth scan so hopefully I'll find out more about what's happening inside me!!

Your BH sound like a nightmare GG!

PB hope everything is going okay xx

I absolutely love her Jem, she's amazing. You can tell she's been doing it for 34 years, she's just a font of knowledge and knows exactly how to explain everything.

I call my BH's Toni now, as in Toni Braxton. I walk around and just come out with, "oh fuck off Toni" when they come. Makes Dan laugh, lol. I've got used to them now, just have no hope of doing certain bendy down things when they are there, lol

No period pains GG! I can only dream haha. Your Braxton Hicks sound awful though. I still don't think I've noticed any BH contractions. I swear, I'm going to be the person still sitting here with no baby at 41+ weeks.

Ladies, cot sheets. We have a next2me and we haven't even thought about a bigger cot yet as I don't imagine baby will be in that until nearer the end of the year. What do I do for sheets in the next2me? Is it worth buying ones specifically for the next2me or should I just get bigger ones for a standard size cot and tuck them in more? I feel like such a novice at this.

I've pretty much finished off my hospital bag (not started baby's yet as need to wash everything this week). PB's possible labour has spurred me into action! I've just to get some bras for breastfeeding and stick in some snacks for me (I've got a gluten intolerance so finding snacks I can eat when out and about is a nightmare at the best of times).

I'd definitely get the next2me sheets Mala. You want the sheets tight. You can get next2me branded ones or "side sleeper" sheets that aren't branded if want to save money xx

Thanks Shan. I have literally no idea what I'd do without all you ladies' knowledge and this forum! Sometimes I feel completely overwhelmed by all the things there is to think about and buy.

Lol GG, Just imagine a woman walking down the road shouting fk off Toni to herself aha.
So jealous of the never experiencing period pain though.

My pain has basically gone still, occasionally I'll get niggles like I'm about to get the build up for one but nothing happens. I read that on slow labour it can stop and start, and I've never hated my body so much in my entire life. I mean it's good he's not just coming this early few days 36 will be way better cos won't need neonatal so I can put up with it stop starting till then.
My mood is unreal, so irritated and wanna punch someone in the face.

Mala, I was like that with dd, this time I haven't even stressed cos ikno what i actually need and what can wait lol x

Edit... So literally after commentingz I had another contraction after 3 and a half hrs!

No worries. My sheets I got were mothercares own brand ones, they fit great and wee quite a bit cheaper. I think the Next2me to match my crib were £22 for two so almost £45 just for four sheets! I was like no chance lol. It so easy to feel overwhelmed and most of the things we stress over baby doesn't really need. I'm guilty of it too and it's my 2nd  Xx

I can imagine hun, I'd be the same if it were me. I'd say you're well within rights to be so irritated. Are you still bleeding pink or losing possible plug? If it's going to be a stop and start labour my fingers are crossed the pain eases off for you until you're ready for full labour to begin. :hugs: xx

Oh PB what an awful time your having....

Acid and heartburn after everything I eat and drink this is ridiculous now!!!! Will be calling the doctors tomorrow for more omepeizole as I’m running out and can’t take gaviscon!!! About 5 weeks left stay strong!!!!!

So sorry to hear you are having a hard time PB! I hope you start feeling better or things at least become easier soon for you.

I've laid everything out for my hospital back and today the bag itself arrived (we didn't actually have a bag, just a humongous suitcase and I thought the midwives may properly crease with laughter if I sauntered in with a suitcase like I was going on holiday :D

I've also been trying to set out my birth plan. I know my preferences but I was just trying to get it all down on paper.. I came across this:

https://www.positivebirthmovement.org/from-visual-birth-plan-to-baby/

The icons the woman uses are really quite good and I thought I may shamelessly copy the idea. Wanted to share with you all in case anyone wanted to do anything similar.

I know the plan may all go to hell in a handcart, but I always feel better if I at least *have* a plan! :)

13 days left in work for me......hard slog now but nearly there... can't believe a friend of mine worked until her due date!

Fela do you not have a birth plan in your notes hun? Wondering if the Scottish one is different Xx

Shan - I'm not sure actually.... I looked at the NHS one online and it doesn't really cover everything I'd like to try and do..from memory I think it's mostly about what interventions and medication I'd be happy with... ?

I'm hoping to cover more of the environmental factors like keeping things quite quiet, dimming the lights, asking the midwife not to examine me without my consent, saying I want to be active and moving around as much as possible...stuff like that in addition to the medical stuff. I had a chat with my MW and she said the midwives at the birth centre are happy to have pretty comprehensive birth plans... But I hadn't thought about my notes, I'll take a look to see what is in there too.. thanks for reminding me! :) x

Fela I'll have a look at my notes when I'm home and post it. It has a birth plan page with things like "how do you feel about internal exams" "would you like an injection to help placenta delivery" "other factors" etc. So you could get all that info about lights etc into that one if you've got it. Not that it really matters anyway I guess where you put it hun xx
