***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

I feel similar to you Nat. baby is constantly headbutting my cervix and it makes me feel sick every time she does. Found it especially hard work in the last few days and feel like all I do is moan to hubby, which is not like me. Probably doing his head in as I'm doing my own in!!

Little madam is starting to kick into my rib a lot more too, not fun.

Hope you're all ok tonight girls xx

To all you experienced mums this will seem like a silly question but do you put cream on baby's bum everytime you change a nappy or only if they get a sore bum?
These are the kind of silly questions keeping me awake.

my little girl used to get nappy rash when she had a cold so only put sudecrem on them. If it got really bad (it did with teething) then the yellow metanium is amazing :)

Oh I'd second the metanium! Amazing stuff!! We didn't use anything on ds unless he was teething and the nappy rash broke out. My Mil used to cake him in sudocrem at every change but he just didn't need it. Maybe other baby bums are different. I did hear that plain vaseline is good for those very first sticky newborn poos but I never tried it!

Oh and there's never a silly question! Always nice to pick up hints and tips from other mums no matter how experienced!

We don't use anything unless he looks a little red, then we favour bepanthen x

We used Sudocrem every bum change in the early days. Stopped after a while though as it started to build up in the creases of his skin.

That said he's never had a sore bum. I occasionally still use Sudocrem if he has a big poo.... its amazing the size of what can come out of a small bum. I figure it must hurt?

Midwife at our ante natal told us not to use cream on their bums unless they have a rash.....I have no practical experience though clearly so I'm just repeating her advice!!

Think I have SPD.

How do you get an actual diagnosis? I'm not due to see MW now until 35w?

The pain in my pelvis when getting up or down is excruciating. It only started yesterday so its kind of come from nowhere.

I'm in agony.

X

Nat you should have a bit of paper in your white notes to self refer to the obstetric physio unit- if not, phone your mat unit on Monday and ask them to put you through- it'll be much quicker than your midwife doing it and def don't ask your gp x

Thanks for your answers ladies. I don't start antenatal classes till 3rd December. Bit late if you ask me but I'll go anyway.
Nat sorry to hear you're in agony. I've been lucky just starting to get so tired.
Met with my friends for lunch today and they had bought me a pink lining, blooming gorgeous change bag. I love it.

Also got my tommee tippee perfect prep Machine today. Reduced to £70 in asda so just picked it up. Only heard good reviews about it. Plan to breast feed initially but will move to formula at some point. Either combination feeding or just formula.

Thanks hun.

Can't believe that literally overnight I've started to suffer so much.

I'll have to call them..... nothing in my notes. Grrrrr.

Feeling even more sorry for myself now and typically we've just moved from a place all on one level to a place with shitloads of stairs.

Ah bless you :-( does it hurt putting pressure on one leg as well? I've found that mine is really bad when I work, but it cleared up loads over the last three weeks because I was off with the bronchitis- as soon as I went back to work yesterday it flared up again :-(((

Have to share this - this is my assumed position for the evening- I'm moaning and groaning and have officially entered the uncomfortable stage!!! I remember 32 to 38 weeks being the most uncomfortable last time too!!!

Wow Jolly wish my stomach was as stretch mark free!! Lovely bump! Oh no Carnat SPD is the worst!! Hope you get some relief!

Hey ladies, don't suppose anyone has had really quite painful stabby pains in their stomach at all? It's mainly in the sides of my stomach and worse when I breathe out....does that sound like round ligament pain? It's bloody sore whatever it is but I can feel Pea wriggling away so think they're happy as larry still!

Nat-is there any chance it could be temporary from overdoing it while moving? Whatever the caise I hope you get some relief soon.

Sorry to hear so many of you are struggling, Here's hoping for a pain free/restful/as comfortable as possible week ahead!

Agree with the "no silly questions" thing - there are so many ridiculous things I lay awake worrying about so always good to get advice from experienced mums!

My friends threw a baby shower for us yesterday - not really sure how I feel about baby showers but I agreed to it on the basis that no one felt they had to bring us a gift, and that it was mostly an excuse to catch up with friends and eat a LOT of cake! We ended up having such a lovely day, a lot of laughing, slightly traumatised by a cake made by some of my friends (decorated with a babiy's head emerging from a very messy foof.... not sure whether the photo is too awful to share here!) and actually we were so spoilt with lovely things for our boy, my brother and his wife had spent hours knitting/crocheting and decorating a little drawer unit all with Doctor Who/Star Wars/superhero theme which is what we love. Was really quite emotional!

Otherwise I am struggling though. Like all of us by the sounds of it I am so tired, getting anything done feels like an absolute mission. Had to clean the house properly before people came round yesterday and it nearly floored me - hubby has been ill with labyrinthitis so wasn't much help unfortunately. Got a bigger birthing ball which the physio recommended for my back and at least I can now sit comfortably on that - definitely recommend it for anyone with back pain.

18 working days to go....

Oh go on, share the picture spallerina, sounds like a funny cake

Sorry you are struggling with the pain x

Really useful to hear about what goes on a baby's bum, thanks everyone. There seems to be so many creams, oils and powders around and really wouldn't it be strange if as a first-time parent you already knew about them all

That's a great bump pic Jolly, I think you have the right idea there - apart from a few trips to the shops for essentials, that's pretty much my position for the weekend as well

I've written a shopping list for the hospital bag so will hopefully be getting the lot tomorrow. My aim is to have all the essentials in by the end of next week so then it's a case of starting on the dreaded cleaning :)
