***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Thanks all for the well wishes.
Well scan went much the same for the kidneys which is still good as at least they are not getting worse :)
And as for growth baby has decided to become a chubster in the last two weeks and is now estimated at 6 pound 4. So starting to get abit scared for delivery haha. But only five weeks tomorrow till due date, not long now. Xxx

Kiwi- glad things are looking reasonable. Can't believe you are only 5 weeks away! Is there any of the January mums expecting to be before that, or might you be our first?

Ah kiwi that's great news!!! 6lb 4oz is a fantastic weight, it'll be better for bubba to have a bit of extra chub :-) yummy squishy babies!!!!! I can't bloody wait!!!

Totally agree with you Ceecee about bubba being low. This pregnancy is totally different from my first and I've struggled so much more, it's now difficult to do anything at all- doesn't it seem like just yesterday we were all introducing ourselves in tri1?!! I'm beginning to really treasure my little toddler, I know things are going to change so much when Tinkerbell arrives and I feel so guilty for not being able to dedicate 100% of my attention to him because of this pregnancy, so I just want to squish him all the time!!!

And TS well done you for getting checked out!!!! My baby is only with us today because I had reduced movement and got checked at the right time so I'm a huge advocate of going and making sure everything is ok!!! Xxx

Aw Jolly, he's soo cute! I know what you mean about feeling like things are going to change and treasuring your toddler. Seems hard to believe our little girl isn't going to be the baby any more. I've been tring to take time to have some special moments with her before the baby arrives. I'm sure we will have special us moments after the baby comes too but it is going to be a bit crazy for the first weeks/months.

Kiwi, it all sounds very positive (well as much as it can be I know there is a lot of uncertainty still but it sounds like you are and baby are being looked after amazingly)

Jolly, your little boy is so cute.

I have a lot of guilt and worry about James - he is a bit older - and I worry about how he is going to cope with the new baby. In some ways it's easier to have a small gap as they don't notice as much

Both my SIL's have 15 months gaps between their kids and had no issues with jealousy / misbehaviour - although of course smaller gaps have their own difficulties. Whereas those with bigger gaps [a few friends and my sister] have seen awful behaviour from the older kids. I guess it's a case of seeing what happens but James is already spiteful with the cat, dread to think what he'll do to the baby??

I also worry as I have very little time off now to dedicate to my older baby, by the time I go on maternity leave I'll be so close to due date? OH is taking some time off and he'll be having James in a few weeks until I am off and after baby arrives, the idea being when baby comes Daddy and James can have lots of 'boys time' and I can get to grips with having a new-born again.

Being a Mummy is just fraught with guilt?

BIL dropped round a load of baby stuff yesterday - they have 2 girls so I have lots of pretty stuff to sort through, ranging from new-born size to 9 months. Although both his girls were summer baby's so not sure how much of it is going to be useful?

Seem to be having one decent night / day at the moment and then a crappy one. James was up at 1am, 4am and climbed into bed with us at 6am. I feel absolutely rotten already.

Fab news Kiwi.

Jolly, your little boy is adorable :)

Ouch Tinsel on the SPD. Pregnancy can be so painful sometimes can't it, and I think it probably gets worse with each pregnancy. I certainly feel more aches and pains this time around.

Nat I am worrying about the possible jealousy issues and I will only have a 15 month gap. My son is very much a mummy's boy and I am really scared he will hate me for having another baby. Silly really as I know babies adapt pretty well, but it bothers me every day.

Tri hopping here ceecee just wanted to say my 2 daughters are 15 months apart they are 14 and 13 now eldest will turn 15 in dec ... They are close and were often mistaken for twins growing up lol.. You'll be ok I'm sure of it.. I just gave birth to my 3rd 5 days ago :) huge gap but im in love and wouldn't have it any other way :)
Jolly your boy is adorable :)

Good news Kiwi xxx Aw Jolly he is so cute :D xx

Just wait until you see my current project :-) I can't wait to finish it!!!! X

Awwww thanks lovely- people say he looks so much like me now so you all saying how adorable he is is a huge compliment to me too :-)))) love him x

Hey Jolly, your toddler looks jolly cute!! :) (like everyone else said!) Very innocent expression too :)

I was 20 months older than my brother and we fought/were competitive with each other for most of our lives! Apparently as a toddler I used to bounce his bouncer very hard :0 I have heard that giving an existing child a present from the baby (that said child really wants) is a good way of introducing a new one into the family.

Question - have been feeling pretty rough the last week or so. From time to time, even sitting in my chair becomes too much (I feel super-exhausted) and I have to lie down. Plus my ribs really hurt on each side, which makes sleeping difficult.

Do I tough it out til my midwife appointment on Tuesday? (are they able to prescribe medicine?) or should I try and get a GP appointment before then?

Hey TC what other symptoms do you have? (Sorry if I've missed it) - do you feel generally exhausted? The ribs will be because bubbas growing and possibly hasn't dropped down yet so is still high up and in your ribs.

Exhaustion is also totally normal at this stage, you're body has to work so hard just to get around now.

What kind of medicine would you want prescribed? They will say you can't have anything other than certain types of antibiotics and the mw's wouldn't be able to prescribe- why don't you phone your mw unit tomorrow just for some advice and see what they say? I'm always on the phone just to check something with them!!

Hi Jolly

Here's hoping baby drops soon then! :)

Last haemoglobin reading (taken at 26 weeks) was already low - at 10.6 - and I've calculated I've had 300+ nosebleeds in the last 18 weeks (on average 3 a day)

Symptom-wise: feeling so exhausted I can't even sit up ~ every day since last Saturday & several times today, have occasionally felt like I'm about to faint (never had this otherwise in my life), seeing silver stars from time to time, have cracks at side of mouth, yesterday started feeling depressed (as in clinically, not just down/sad).

Have felt sh*t all this week - my colleague escorted me home in a taxi on Monday almost as soon as I struggled into the office!

If I'm right I think it's anaemia but I have difficulty with taking tablets, so would like someone to prescribe liquid iron supplement if that's what it is. They should have my blood results from 31 weeks now.

Also, I'd like to be told by someone qualified that I genuinely need to rest, as this will help at home.

I'm slightly reluctant to try phoning the midwife as I tried this during a medical emergency during my last pregnancy and got no pick-up, which was upsetting.

I sympathize TC. I've been struggling with anemia and it makes you feel really rough. My haemoglobin got down to 10.1 and I was really struggling. It makes you feel tired but not a normal tired, it's an ill kind of tired feeling (not sure how much sense that makes but I think you get what I mean it you are feeling it). Thankfully I've improved some and hope it will continue to get better. I've been taking floradix and it seems to work well for me. It is liquid and suposed to be more natural. I bought it myself and its a bit expensive but worth considering.

I've heard about Floradix, been meaning to pick some up as my red blood count and Haemoglobin is a little on the low side (not anaemia level though)

Personally I am going to get the tablets as I have heard the liquid is vile.

Also I am not sure if like normal iron suppliments you need to take them with Vitamin C to help with absorbtion?

I would maybe ring the MW or try to book a GP appointment though, before starting any "medication"

I am lucky in that although I am complaining about being exhausted, I am actually OK - walking almost an hour a day to and from work   so I just trying to keep my energy up through diet and rest (although can someone tell James about the rest part of my plan )

Sorry to hear about those feeling a bit rough - my only complaint is aches and pains! My ribs feel like they are bruised front & back so ribcage must be expanding!

Is anyone thinking of hiring a tens machine?

I had a TENS last time (loaned from my sister!)

I never used it , by time I went in I was 5cm and the MW said I'd missed the best time to use it - which is early labour! I'd been in a lot of pian but was kind of holding out with the TENS and I missed the optimum time to use it??

Oh TC I do remember now about the low red blood count :-(

I have to say, my iron levels/red blood cell count is really good and I am absolutely exhausted, so I really do sympathise, you must feel just horrendous :-( x

Girls I just needed to share my bump pic- I'm massive for 33 weeks!!!!
