***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Ring MW ronnie. Just to check.

Stupidly upset earlier as I got a letter and I have to have GTT next week

My levels after my mini test a few weeks back mean I need the proper full on test. Made me shed a few tears. Silly I know as its just as test and doesn't mean I have anything wrong with me. Although obviously something has flagged up from the other test.

If it really itches I'd go straight in as I've heard severe itching can be a sign of something serious in the last trimester. Think there's a sticky post on this forum about it x

There is a sticky about Obstetric Cholestasis which causes severe itching but I don't think it involves a rash. There is a condition that causes a rash on your bump due to an allergy to pregnancy hormones. Pregnancy does tend to make normal allergies worse though so it could just be an allergy to your washing powder, skin cream or an allergy to a normal virus. It doe look like a good idea to have it checked. Hope it is better soon, it looks really uncomfortable.

kiwi- I think the 4/5 means she could feel the baby's head beginning to engage when she felt your tummy. So its a good thing :). It means things are already getting ready for labour, though it can make you feel a bit more pressure down low.

Aw, CARNAT, hope your GTT turns out fine. it seems like quite a few fail the mini one then pass the full one no problem. I was stupidly getting stressed yesterday because my BP is getting a bit high, which doesn't really help my bp, lol.

Just had a look at my results from last blood tests and my red blood cell count and haemoglobin are lower than 'normal' range as well?

Nothing mentioned about that though in accompanying letter?

I was only 0.2 out of being in normal range for mini test so not something I'm too worried about.

Wondering now if I am anemic?

What were your numbers CARNAT? The minimum number they use for normal haemoglobin tends to be quite generous so being 0.2 bellow shouldn't be a big deal and it's very common to be a bit low in pregnancy. It seems to depend on the person as to how low it gets before you have symptoms. Some people get really low before they feel it, some people feel it when its just a little low. Are you taking iron? If not it might be a good idea so as to build it up a bit and stop it getting lower.

Morning ladies, hope everyone is okay x

Sorry to come on to just talk about myself, but am back from hospital now (phew) and am pleased to say baby is looking fine so far and that I don't have pre eclampsia for now :-D

Looks very likely that we'll have a baby before Christmas though! Completely reeling from the fact that there is now at least 3 weeks less to plan - eek!

The verdict is that I do have OC, but that I also had that cmv virus, and for some strange reason my liver is throwing out readings that they don't normally see, so they're keeping an eye on it but will deliver the baby if it gets dangerous for me

I got a rash from OC, and I think this can happen, but if you had it you'd know from the itching - it's completely maddening (but once on the medication it reduces/stops)

While I was in the hospital we had a lady on the ward who was in proper labour on Thurs night. Really felt for the poor lady. There was no room on the delivery ward for her and they were waiting for a bed, and she was pleading for pethadine for at least an hour and a half, but they wouldn't/couldn't give it to her until she was on the delivery ward  poor lady was aware that there were at least 3 other ladies on the ward so it must've been really uncomfortable for her. I'm sure this is a very rare occurrence but quite an eye opener tbh

I'm off to see family this morning so will be able to give them the news :)

Again, sorry to dump my news and run but had said I was in hospital and wanted to come back and say that me and baby are fine :) hope to catch up later with how you are all doing and hope you are all okay xx

Thanks for the update chicken. Glad there is no PE to worry about at least. Poor woman, if it was me I think I'd be leaving the hospital, lol, but then I'm planning a home birth anyway.

Oh chicken bless you what an ordeal! At least you now know what the situation is and you can plan for baby's arrival! Taking 3 weeks planning from you though must be stressful! My friend had OC she had a planned section at 36 weeks baby is doing great! Hope you get some rest x

Glad all is ok chicken. Wowser... you're going to be a December mummy? Amazing.

What were your numbers CARNAT? The minimum number they use for normal haemoglobin tends to be quite generous so being 0.2 bellow shouldn't be a big deal and it's very common to be a bit low in pregnancy. Sorry. I was 0.2 over the normal range for mini glucose test so that's why im back for proper test next week.

Red cell count is 3.61 when the 'normal range' is 3.95-5.15

Haemoglobin is 111 when the 'normal range' is 115-155.

So I'm not massively out with any of it?

Platet count 197 and has been ticked even though the range they give is 150-400.

Going to start some iron tablets anyway

Moving day tomorrow and my god its chaos. Nearly done now though

Oh, yeh, sorry carnat I read that wrong. Still you sound pretty close on everything like you say. I got my results back and my hb is 101 so probably explains the dizzy spells. It lower than it should be but still nothing the MW is massively worried about.

Maybe they ticked the red cell count because its on the low end of normal?

Nat what a pain in the arse that is- I think I'd rather just have the full 2hr gtt to start with tbh. They're not much fun but at least that's it.

Good luck moving!!!! And happy birthday hubby and James!!! X

Sorry for lack of update all week !!!!
We'll had my growth scan on Tuesday as opposed to Monday and they found baby already weighs 4.5 pound!!!!!!! (I was 30 weeks 6 days at scan) I nearly dropped hahaha they said the fact I am almost 6ft and hubby is 6ft2 could potentially play a big part in this as the baby's thigh bone weight/measurement comes into it so could just be a really long baby !!!! (My mum also says this!)
They do want to keep an eye on me and baby tho so were back next week for the gestational diabetes test ughhhhhhhh. And then ten days after that for another growth scan with a consultant review immediately after !!

Had to meet with a doctor after my growth scan who advised me fluid is normal and baby appears normal but for the weight etc but again they think height. And they'd be concerned if he underweight etc. she's told me in the meantime just monitor the kicks. She advised ten movements in a day is sufficient. I said ten separate movements or what? She said even ten kicks one after the other is fine. I tell ya, u hear so many different results to what's normal movement lol I'm just sticking with gut instinct

How has everyone else been this week ????????!? Lol xxxxxxxx

YellowGlass- glad things are looking okay. Our little man is looking like he'll be long too. My family are all tall so its no surprise. As far as movements go I think the point is to be aware of them and know what is normal for your LO. I seem to grow super active babies. This one moves non stop. If I only got 10 movements in the day I'd be super worried. I start to notice if I haven't felt him in 30mins and would probably be off to get checked out after a couple of hrs. They would probably think I was crazy but I'd know it want normal fof my little man, but that would be totally normal for some babies.

The whole process has been hideous BUT we're here.

Now its time to sleep.

Glad you got settled in ok Carnat! Always love that feeling of sleeping in your new home! Good luck with all the unpacking x

Yay Carnat on move. We have finished decorating baby's room and new carpet is coming on Wednesday then we can start building the furniture and getting things washed and packing things away. Can't wait.

Wow, well done carnat! Bet you are glad that's over. Mind you when we moved house we were still unpacking a year later :).

Congrats nat, glad the worst bit is over for you now :-))))) xxx

Got my GTT tomorrow.

Dreading it. Mainly as its a valuable morning I could be at home doing stuff / with James.

Cant believe when I go back to work I still have over a month left as well. At least I'm much closer to my office now.

No cooker or washing machine yet so its slow progress but all good.

X

I've got my growth scan and consultant appt tomorrow first thing- can't wait to see bubba
