***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

I only get 2 scans here. We would only get more if there were complications.

My bump is feeling heavy, but it feels so much lower than it did with my son. Means less heartburn though, and no foot wedged in my ribs yet...that was my son's favourite thing to do, kick my rib!

I had my mw appt today, she heard my chest and urged me to see the doc tomorrow and doesn't think I should go back to work for at least another week.

Anyway, bubs is fine, measuring a week and a half ahead (30+4 measuring 32) which is in line with what Freddie was and consistent with this one so far. I think because I'm overweight it will always be slightly higher.

Oh and I'm only having a 3rd scan because it's a growth scan because Freddie was very little at 2 weeks overdue and because this one will be delivered a week early they want to make sure she's ok in there :-) x

Scans? Eek, nothing's been said to me about having another scan - not a word. I didn't realise there were going to be any more. Unless they do it differently here in Northern Ireland.

I have my 31 week appointment this Friday so maybe I'll have one then. Hopefully they actually know what I'm there for this time.... I turned up to a hospital appointment (with the letter they sent me asking me to come) 2 Fridays ago, to get my Anti D injection, and I was met with blank looks as they weren't expecting me and they didn't have the injection ready for me, so sent me packing.... Organised!!!

I finally got the injection 2 days later.

Quick question, I noticed someone posted about their baby measuring 2 weeks ahead of due date, what does that mean? Does it mean baby has just grown quicker than anticipated, or does it mean the initial 12 week dating scan wasn't accurate?

My hospital give you 3 scans as standard (dating, anomaly and growth scan around 36w) but the other local hospital only offer 2 scans as standard.

I have had a few more due to brightness on the baby's bowel but I have been discharged back to just normal care now.

From 28w onwards you should have your tummy measured at each appointment? They are measuring the fundal height and as a rough guide you should be the same in cm as you are weeks. They measure from pubic bone to top of uterus.

So when someone says they are measuring 2 weeks ahead it means they are measuring 30cm at 28w. I think most MW's use it as a rough estimate and only if you are measuring quite significantly more / less will they take any action. My SIL was measuring 40cm at 35w so they sent her for a growth scan

Also I don't have the 31w appointment, another one they "skip" at my hospital when you are having baby number 2 :wall2:

Early on babies are pretty much all the same size for their age and the 12 weeks scan is considered the most accurate for dating. Later in pregnancy growth rates differ naturally so if the baby measures bigger or smaller on a growth scan it doesn't change the due date.

Thanks ladies x still in the waiting room, going to be an overnighter, if they don't show me where I can sleep soon I'm going to sleep right here lol. Possibly pre eclampsia but hopefully they're just being over cautious. Thank goodness I brought snacks x

How did your night pan out Chicken - hope alls ok?

Thanks Katy, not too bad thanks I'm just getting tests and stuff but baby seems happy so far so that's good x

Wow chicken that's a long old wait you had!!

I've been signed off work for another week with this bronchitis- I was due back tomorrow but I saw the docs and they agreed I shouldn't go back yet.

No more antibiotics though as it's viral, and what I thought was a cracked rib from coughing is just bruising :-( all in all I'm feeling very sorry for myself so watching ridiculously rubbish films on Netflix and eating chocolates!!!

Sorry for the moan, very fed up anyway without this stupid bronchitis :-( x

Bless you Jolly that sounds horrid I hope you feel better soon. And chicken I hope you're ok xx

Jolly, that sounds pretty pants. Chocolate and films sounds good to me though lol.

Chicken, glad baby is doing fine. Boo for a long wait and tests though...fingers crossed they'll all come back ok.

I don't feel right today. Feel really light headed, even though I have eaten and had lots to drink. Hoping it's just because I am tired and not because my blood pressure is low. Really hope these last few weeks don't drag

Chicken, glad baby is doing well. Hope they get you sorted soon.

Jolly, that sounds awful. Bronchitis is bad enough when you are not pregnant.

My bp is startting to get a bit high. I get funny spells with a racing pulse and dizziness. MW said it could be anemia so going to get bloods done tomorrow.

I have been feeling pretty rotten lately, getting pain in my belly and increased discharge (sorry tmi) I had an appointment with the midwife today and I now have to go and get checked and swabs?? Anybody know why this would be? Also I have blood, protein, leukocytes and sugar, in urine, and another thing I noticed was in the palpable section in my notes it said 4/5 when they usually don't put anything?? Sorry for the questions and they may all sound silly but am just a tad confused, first timer and all haha.

Kiwi I've had swabs done at a midwife appointment before when I thought I might have cycstitis, she did it to rule out any other possible bacterial infections so it might be for a similar reason?

That's them done they just said it would be to check things out, and the were concerned that my waters were leaking, but it seems the waters are fine and just got to wait for the results of the swabs. But yeh think so taboo just to check infection and things.
Holy am getting fed up of hubris pregnancy thing, roll on December and baby time :) xxx

Ooohh that doesn't look right! I's go straight to the docs with that hun x

I would too- is it just on your bump? Have you used any new creams or eaten something you don't usually eat? X

Looks sore, I would go to the docs. Hopefully get something for it. Xx

If it really itches I'd go straight in as I've heard severe itching can be a sign of something serious in the last trimester. Think there's a sticky post on this forum about it x
