***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Completely agree with Ceecee.

I only managed a few days with James then I moved to expressing which was hideous. All the negatives of formula feeding but none of the positives really (I know baby getting breast milk is a positive but it was such hard work and I was so miserable). Day I decided to move to formula was the day I started to truly enjoy my baby.

This time I will try to bf but I'll also have no worries or concerns about moving to formula. I have also decided I'll breast feed or formula feed but I won't express.

Eeeek Janet. Hope it all kicks off for you but if it doesn't try not to be too afraid of induction. They aren't all horrible.

Janet how exciting !!!!!!
Are you allowed to shower or bathe once your waters go ? Or is that not allowed due to
Infection risk ??? Getting on my ball once I've finished steam cleaning the spare bedroom haha. Due date tomorrow xxxxxx

Thanks girls, it's nice to hear from people have done it and found it to be the best decision. I think there is so much pressure put on people to breast feed and I have been having such a tough time, like you said expressing is just awful, and av been doing this now for a month on and off, but constantly this last two weeks, and it does begin to get too much. I am certainly leaning more towards formula as I do feel so much better when I can just sit with Brody and have an enjoyable time feeding him, instead of the stresses that I feel from trying to get him latched on properly. I think I just needed to hear that it is okay after the midwifes and family going on at me, I think it's so easy to be pushed to do it, even when you are not enjoying it due to being emotional and overtired. Thanks again for making me feel better ladies :) xxx

Also for those having scared thoughs about induction. I too was terrified of the concept of induction, but I found it to be a good experience. I was worried about the length and the pain, but I had a six hour labour and found the pain manageable. So please try not to worry :)

It's so exciting all these babys are on there way, it's all go :) good luck everyone xxx

The beggining of January seemed so quiet, now everything is happening at once! I agree about all these waters breaking before labour starts, it isnt that common usually.

For those who switch to formula, please dont feel guilty. I would say though that the first weeks BFing are by far the hardest and it gets really easy after that for most so if you struggle at first dont feel like it will be that way forever.

Janet- Its nice that your MW is not giving you a bit of time. It is unusual for labour not to have started by then when the waters have broken so hopefully things will move for you soon. If not and you feel really strongly about avoiding induction research a bit about waiting a little longer and monitoring for infection instead of induction. There are benefits and risks either way but it is an option.

Hope all is going well for the ladies in labour! Look forward to some new babies soon!

Just realised I haven't posted a pic yet, sorry!

Hope things start off soon Janet before they go to induction xx

Aw what a wee sweetheart!! I'd agree with breastfeeding, or not. I managed the first few days and expressed for about a month but topped up with formula. The midwives were quite judgemental really but I had an excellent student who was just so down to earth and supportive about deciding to formula feed. My baby just really struggled to maintain the latch and got so stressed during bf. Tbh he struggled with a bottle too so it couldn't have just been me! A stressed mummy and stressed baby are a bad combo. Do what's right for you and yours!!

Hi January Mummy's!!

Sorry for being awol for most of my pregnancy, I had good intentions to post, but struggled to find the time with a 2 and 3 year old and also working full time. I always read this thread most days though, so feel like I know you all.

Congratulations to all who have had their babies! It's exciting waiting to see who's next.

I'm booked in for a C Section on Friday, due to having previous one with ds2. Feel like so much needs doing - I haven't even got my hospital bag ready yet! I can't wait to meet my baby girl. I'll make sure I update on Friday xx

Congratulations to all you lovely ladies who have had their new bundles arrive.
Nat, just popping in to see if anything has happened x

Florence Alice was born at 12.23 early hours of this morning weighing 7lb4oz. The induction process worked well for me, just had the pessary. Only in really active labour for about 1hr 30 mins!
We are doing well so far despite the tiredness and constant feeding!
Congratulations to all the other new mums, things have really hot up in here!! xx

Talk about stress! OH has been offered a promotion!! Yay! The catch? They need him to do a four week residential mon-fri training course starting the 9th of Feb!!! If I go over baby could arrive as late as the 7th/8th. It's a future changer for us, but I can't stand the thought of oh missing out on those first few weeks of babies life. He needs to let his boss know tomorrow morning. My head is a mess right now!

Congratulations to all who have had their babies. They are all super cute.

Absolutely no signs got me. Baby hasnt even engaged at all yet.
