***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

I've been having really bad period type cramps all day today, normal at this point anyone know?? Midwife came yesterday and baby's 1/5th engaged. Sloowly getting down there X

I asked midwife about these on Monday as I've been getting them every few days-she said nothing to worry about and a positive sign things are getting ready down there! x

Hello ladies :-) im hardly ever on here now due to the 12hour time difference. Actually I read most of the forum just dont post much.
My due date has nearly been and gone here in nz. I really thought she would come a few days early as my son came a day early and I was told second babies normally come slightly earlier than firsts? Guess thats just a myth.
gosh I am feeling much more uncomfortable and sleeping way less with this pregnancy.
In uk are babies given vit k orally or injected? Or can you choose?
X

Hi Celene hun. Happy due date.

You can choose re: vitamin K here in the UK. After researching it last time round I opted for the injection. Orally they need a few doses and if you have a sickie baby they can end up not getting full dose.

Injection was easier and it was over and done with in seconds... after the trauma of being born James didn't even notice the needle. I'll be opting for injection this time too

I think I need something to de-stress me. My head is all over the place.

So, yesterday I had some brown discharge, called the hospital and they wanted me to go in. Went in a bit later because someone had to look after my 2 year old so waited for hubby to get home at 4:30.
I was in triage for 4 hours...4 WHOLE HOURS!! I didn't get to eat anything until 9pm (last ate 12pm) all they did was check baby heartbeat, take swabs etc. They wanted me to stay but I said no and that I would come back today for scan and anti D.
They called me to basically say scan dept is really busy and that they can't get me in until 3:30. I declined because of the stress yesterday caused me, I'm not waiting hours for a scan cos they are busy so booked it for tomorrow morning. Still waiting for a call back to get my anti D booked in.

Basically. I wish I'd never called them in the first place. I now have an ultrasound at 11:30 tomorrow. MRI scan at 2:55 tomorrow to check for accreta.
Plus, I found out yesterday that I'm supposed to see my consultant this morning to discuss my MRI results tomorrow!! yeah, that makes sense. So obviously had to postpone that until next week! Grrr, so worked up!!

Sorry ladies, just needed a rant

Blimey Steph. No wonder your feeling a bit stressed. Your hospital sound useless.

X

Oh Steph, that sounds really crappy. SOrry you had such a shit day :(

I got to choose with my son too Celene re: the Vit K. I also went for the injection as figured it was over quickly enough and guaranteed to get the full dose in one hit. Will be doing the same this time around too.

Back from docs appt. 3/5 engaged and still head down. She's given me some anusol for piles (sorry, TMI lol) as I have been suffering terribly with them and constipation and the last doctor refused to give me anything. Hopefully it will help a bit.

I know, not the best ever.

To top it all off, my midwife is off sick. Haven't seen her since I was 32 weeks...

Just back from the hospital for my last visit before my planned induction on Monday. Scan estimated baby's weight at 7lb 11 and everything else looked good. Insisted the consultant checked out my cervix (poor man) as I was really worried I would turn up for induction on Monday and my cervix not be ready at all leading to more and more interventions. Can't get out of the induction unfortunately as I am 41 and have gestational diabetes. Anyway, he said my cervix was softening well and could stretch to 1cm so I feel a bit happier that Monday will be ok.
Can't believe we are all about to have babies. Anyone else is hasn't quite sunk in yet for?! x

Sorry you had a bad experience Steph- they sound so disorganised!

Lotty, I know I was desperate to go into labour naturally but after my hospital experience yesterday and my ridiculously high heart rate I realise that c section is absolutely the best plan for me on Monday- so I've now stopped with the raspberry leaf tea, spicy food, nipple tweaking!!! Will you keep trying over the weekend or just relax and try and enjoy yourself before induction?

X

Jolly, my mum comes on Sunday so I am sorted for childcare from then, so won't be trying anything too radical. I think I'm just pleased that my cervix is looking like it might be receptive to induction on Monday. Still taking raspberry leaf tea capsules, curries are difficult dur to the diabetes. We did DTD last night and may well do the same tonight to follow up on the sweep!
Hope you can rest a bit and try and get your BP down. Monday is fast approaching! x

Hi ladies

Hope you're all doing well

I'm still in hospital and will be at least another day

Poor baby has lost about 12 percent of his body weight so now down to 5lb 5oz. We had mainly bought 0-3 months clothes but he is swamped in the few newborn size clothes we have.

Have been averaging about 2hrs sleep per day since 2 January so wiped out. So if you can rest now, I think you'll be glad :-)

Also I haven't posted birth story yet but with labour I went from screaming in agony up to 7cm and then so comfy I fell asleep til 10cm with epidural not feeling any contractions. I know it's different for everyone but the difference was amazing so do keep in mind :-)

Sorry baby is having a tough time putting on weight. I know it can be stressful. LO lost about 12% of her body weight too. She was 9lbs 5oz so could afford to loose a bit mind you :). She didn't get her birth weight back until 6 weeks! I got so fed up of clothes that we too big for her that we went out and bought her newborn stuff when she was 5 weeks old! We were really worried about it. It turns out she had an allergy to foods I was eating and when I changed my diet things improved a lot. She was still a slow gainer and quite skinny until about 8 months but other than that she has always been pretty healthy and developed well. Her growth has caught up a lot now.

TC, when you get a chance can you let me know baby's details for front page?

He was born 2nd Jan and weighed 6lbs?

Sorry my laptop is dying on me again and I cannot update first page from my phone.

X

TC congratulations on your LO birth!! I am sorry to hear that your LO is struggling with their weight, am sure they'll find out why soon and then LO will start piling on the lbs. I hope you're managing to get some rest just now tho? x

Congrats on your due date Celene! Hope bubba doesn't keep you waiting too long! Any signs yet? As the others have said, here you can chose either Vit K injection or oral, and like the others am going to go with the injection for the same reasons.

steph that sounds like such an ordeal for you :( I had to wait 3 hours after having suspected SROM and all for a VE and swab! Irritating isn't the word, esp when you're worried about the health of your baby. I hope tomorrow is a better experience for you x

ceecee 3/5th engaged, good work! 2 weeks ago neep was 1/5th engaged, went back on tues there and s/he is free floating again! I've still got 2.5wks till EDD tho :) x

That's exciting Lotty!! And it's good that they checked your cervix too as it takes that worry away for you... complete chilling out is in order now lol!

I was expecting to come on and see people nearing the finish line but not so many! I think I'm in a bit of denial still that it isn't that far away, I know I'm due in just over 2wks, and I say that just about every day cause of people asking, but I don't think it has fully sunk in!! Knowing me it wont hit me until I'm getting contractions! I was like that on my wedding day- it didn't sink in until I was about to walk down the aisle! x

Hey ladies !!! Typed out a post about three times already never got to finish !!

After 6 long days on hospital due to being induced early and then pessary falling out twice and not being actually taken for the gel induction until Friday 2nd I had by beautiful baby boy Freddie on the 3/01/15 at 11.38 weighing 8lb 10 at 39+3

Had to have a blood transfusion after so had to stay in an extra night.

Will attempt to write about all the details another day as its already taken me so long just to write this.

Good luck to all of you ladies !!!

Kitty x

Ahhhhh congrats kitty!!!!! Freddie's a very good choice of name ;-) sorry you had a long old time of it!!!! Glad he's here safe and well and you're recovering now xxx

Oh wowser. Massive congratulations Kitty.

Sounds like you had a bit of a time of it but all worth it in the end of course. Will update front page tomorrow with Freddie's details.

X

I don't think anythings imminent but I feel like I've got indigestion, been a bit more windy (sorry Tmi!) just an uncomfortable tummy, my back isn't comfy and the last couple of days my breasts have been increasingly tender. Today I could have slept all day but again was up with ds a few times as well as my normal pee stops.
I would like for this to be the start of things but likely just wishful thinking!!

Aw congratulations Kitty, excellent news! Hope you're well on the mend now, sounds like a bit of an ordeal you had x

Megsmeadow, it may be a sign of your body preparing?? x
