***Jan & Feb Mummy and Baby***

We're still not weaning really.

After the porridge incident I am really scared.

I have given Bee some mashed banana and although she has literally had the smallest amount, she has been quite sicky afterwards? (her sickiness had been much better of late - for weeks and weeks she has been consistently fine in terms of how sick she used to be) so I am a bit worried about it all.

I may just wait a week and see how she is then?

We're still BF'ing - I am amazed considering how reluctant I was and how neutral I felt about it all. As I don't see her going to "3 meals a day" anytime soon we'll stick with it for the time being.

Had a bit of a blip with my weightloss (damn Birthday!!) so I am a few lbs up but back on the healthy train this week.

I am going to get Bee and James stuff for next summer in the sales!! Super organisation lol.

Nat trust your instinct in terms of weaning and I'm sure B will tell you when she's ready too.

With regards to the sickiness, it may be worth speaking to your HV. I've found Alfie's a lot less sick now since we've been weaning but we just get bucketfuls of dribble instead!

I was only going to try a spoonful a day but now he'll have a whole pear blended up or a banana. He lets me know when he's had enough or if he wants more. I was really worried about weaning and wanted to wait a bit longer but I felt Alfie was ready and it's been such a positive process and we both enjoy lunchtime. He's not a fan of baby porridge so he's only had that twice and instead I try him on a different fruit or veg a day. So far he's tried Apple, pear, banana, strawberries, sweet corn, peas, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, mango, green beans. The sweet corn and green beans he wasn't too keen on because he found it hard to get used to the grainy texture. I've been blending but not putting it through a sieve so he can get used to the texture.

Seem to have cracked day time naps over the past few weeks and as soon a s he shows he's getting tired, I lay him down next to me on the sofa, he has his cuddly fox and dummy and he's out like a light :)

Argh weaning!!

I tried mollie on baby rice and some sweet potato and it came whooshing straight back up.

We had another appt with her consultant today as the omeprazole just isn't working for her reflux, and they've finally prescribed nutramigen hydrolysed milk and if it works they'll formally diagnose a cows milk protein allergy. She's also being sent for a Barium swallow xray to determine what's happening when she drinks and if there's any damage internally from the reflux.

I cried for hours after as I'd gone to the appt armed with a highlighted copy of the Nice Guidelines as they've been so adamant it's nothing serious, but the consultant didn't need any convincing whatsoever and has now called it SEVERE reflux probably caused by a milk allergy. Well have to see if this milk works. I'm so gutted that her first 6 months of life have been so uncomfortable for her :-( it really breaks my heart.

Consultant also agreed we need to delay weaning until we've determined if this is a milk allergy or not.

Hope all babies and mummies are ok-Nat you've done so well with the bf'ing! X

Hi everyone!

Well, after weeks of Gabriella feeding every 2 hours, I got her weighed and saw hv.

She is back on the growth chart! Now on 15th centile, woohoo!

I was told to try giving her food to help fill her up. So far, not so good. Have tried fruit. Will buy some baby porridge or rice today as maybe she isn't ready for too much flavour?!

She has also gone from 0-3 clothes being big to pretty much outgrowing everything! Shopping time!!!

OMG sounds excellent progress, well done!
Caleb wasn't interested in food at all first few days I tried it and I was close to giving up for a wee while but he now absolutely loves it so is worth trialling a few different things (he hated baby rice and veg but after a few days on fruit he'll now have anything!) x

Prunes were a big hit today (I couldnt even fake a yum yum when I tasted them!)

Well done OMG sounds like she's doing great now xx

Aw Taboo that pic is fab he's gorgeous xx

Taboo what a fab pic! I've got loads of Alfie smeared in food!

Awww hello Caleb.

What a cutie.

Jolly please don't feel guilty. Mollie won't remember any of this and soon it will (hopefully) be a distant memory for you too.

I'm glad Gabriella is back on the charts lol.

I'm thinking I need to step up with weaning as Bee literally tries to wrestle food from my hands... We had some melon today and she loves it but she is quite sicky after having anything - no matter how little she has. It doesn't stop her wanting food though.

Hello ladies, how are we all doing?

After a wonderful 3 months of Bee being a very happy little baby (After 3 months of her being a very unhappy little baby) we're back to unhappy!!!

I'd forgotten how hard it is.

I know we are gearing up for the next leap - she wasn't so affected by the last one but she is showing all the signs for this one (really restless night-time sleeping, grizzly, very clingy with me)... I am shattered. She wasn't actually going all night but I think we had about a week or two when she was doing one feed at 3am and now we're back to several feeds or a feed lasting an hour :wall2:

No teeth yet but that could be another reason she is a complete grump. I was spoilt with James as I never really noticed him teething... he'd just wake up one day with new teeth LOL.

Oh well, hopefully it is 10 steps forwards and 1 step back!

Oh Nat :(

Hope things improve for you. Although Alfie's been much the same recently (just minus the feeding). He's been s real nightmare to get down to sleep in the evenings and he's just generally been a grizzle in the day. Today he's been napping every hour and a half which is unlike him. We had a huge thunder storm here last night lasting well over 3 hours and although I didn't hear him wake, I wonder if the lightening kept him up.

No signs of teeth here. I thought a few weeks back we might see one but the dribbling has calmed down slightly and he's not trying to shove his fist down his throat.

I'm trying to pass my driving test at the moment so I'm trying to get all the lessons in that I can before harvest crops up (pun unintended!) and childcare becomes an issue in the evening. We brought me a car last weekend but my pushchair is a pain to get in it and I end up removing a wheel. Maybe I'll invest in a buggy next year when he's bigger.

Hi Taboo I just spotted this really cute picture of Caleb, I hope you are keeping well and I can't believe how big he has gotten, he looks like he was enjoying his prunes :-)

Aww thanks louise! We are doing really well thanks, Caleb's 6 months old now time is flying by! I'm actually off to get him weighed next week as he seems to have chunked up quite a bit recently lol!
Hope you're well, I pop back to the journal section from time to time to catch up on all you ladies I just don't often post anything. Always hoping for a BFP for you xxx

Hello ladies,

How are we all doing? Looks like Bee definitely has some sort of lactose intolerance as she had another reaction yesterday (Greek yoghurt). She is ok with butter so I don't think it's a full on dairy intolerance. She has never had any reaction from my milk.

Moving her into the cot-bed next weekend. Just got to wait for James' toddler bed and the new mattress etc to turn up. It's going to have to go right next to our bed with a side missing though as we co-sleep.

She is still mad for boob, although we're gradually introducing food. So far we've had pear, apple, banana, toast, butternut squash, broccoli, baby corns, courgette, raw peppers, cucumber and Greek yoghurt. Not all at once of course.... just trying her with different tastes. Doing BLW again as I'm too lazy to puree stuff

Bee still wakes several times at night, she is like one of those little blind moles when she is searching for boob at night.

She is so different from James. He slept from 10w - in his crib / cot-bed, he weaned really easily and wasn't at all clingy.

Oh well maybe it means she'll be an easy toddler (James was a perfect baby but is a bit of a handful as a toddler lol)

Hope mummy's are all well? I'm still on my weight loss "journey" 16lb gone but I still want another 2st shed overall. Am happy to do it slowly and steadily tho.

Hey Nat!

My two are totally different as well. I realise now how easy Freddie was! Mollie had her Barium swallow xray and definitely does not have reflux, rather allergy induced episodes of severe reflux. So she's on hypoallergenic milk and I'm going for it with milk free weaning.

What's everyone else's routine at the mo? I'm introducing ella's kitchen pouches at the moment while we find our feet and today for the first time she's having 2. We've now dropped a bottle and she's having 3 instead of 4. So her day looks like this

8am - 8oz milk
12pm - puree
3.30pm - 6oz milk
5/5.30pm - puree
7pm - 8oz milk

How does this look? I'm trying to cut down the bottles as quickly as possible as she's never sick after her purees, but still is after her milk (we're going to ask for neocate instead of nutrimigen).

I can't believe weaning with Freddie was so different! And I can't even remember what we did!!!

Hope all the babies are enjoying their food :-) x

Milk wise, i haven't got any kind of routine with feeding Jolly. Still feeding on demand. Have no idea how much Bee takes. Food wise she is literally just having bits and pieces to hold / have a suck of.

Sounds like weaning is going to be good for Mollie, I say go as quickly as you feel you can? I have a friend who has a little one 3 weeks younger than Bee who is already having 3 meals a day (porridge in morning, fruit at lunch and veg at dinner) but pureed stuff and significant amounts. Baby is thriving and loving food so my friend is just going with it.

I'd be guided by baby Jolly.

Alfie is still having 7oz every 3ish hours but has porridge with his breakfast bottle and a purée with his "lunchtime"/early afternoon bottle. Am thinking of giving him 8oz and seeing if he goes longer between bottles and drops one. Who knows, I'm just giving him what he wants at the moment. He had an Ella's kitchen pouch today which was peas, pears and carrot and he loved it! I've been cooking and puréeing my own stuff. We brought a few pitches to use when we're out but I won't make a habit of buying them as I didn't realise how much they cost (compared to me doing my diy meals) He's trying to chew everything so I'm going to see if he'll eat finger food like carrot etc. last Time I gave him a chunk of Apple he couldn't understand what to do with it, give him anything else and he puts it straight in his mouth. A few weeks and I'll start introducing natural yogurt and toast he must be so bored of veg and fruit now! Although I've found that he prefers veg over fruit, I think he finds fruit too strong/sweet.

We're on 3 meals a day now, we have baby rice/porridge with a fruit icecube added or weetabix for breakfast, lunch will be a veg combo of some sort and dinner is baby rice with veg added. Health visitor told us once you start weaning you should aim to have them on 3 meals a day within 4 weeks and Caleb was keen for it so that's what we did. Am going to start introducing meat after next week and make up actual meals for lunch as that's when he's hungriest, still puréed though! Waitrose had ellas pouches on offer a couple of weeks ago so I've been using them a fair bit out of laziness but now making use of my ice cubes!

Have to say am not really enjoying weaning, was in my stride with everything and then I have to start this malarkey! I'm also starting to wean off BFing (sob) so transferring to bottles is adding to the stress/confusion! Now spend most of the day panicking about how few mls Caleb's taking!

He's still up multiple times a night and every few nights when he wakes up that's him for an hour/hour and a half - he's not even wanting food so I don't know why he's waking up!!! x

It's interesting to see how different they all are with their feeding. I felt in a constant fog when I weaned freddie, had no idea and just muddled along. Now I feel the same with Mollie! But she's very different to him. They like to keep us on our toes don't they!

I'm going to start making my own purees as the pouches are going to work out at £3 a day soon which I don't think even freddie costs that much to eat and he's a gannet!

I've read puree is better for reflux/allergy but I did BLW with Freddie and left him nibble what he wanted to so I'm not sure whether to just try her.

Argh! I hate weaning! X
