***Jan & Feb Mummy and Baby***

Oh Nat, you bought the Bee sleepsuit in the end then? She looks absolutely adorable in it. We've outgrown the bee one now as I had it in 0-3 and we've also moved into 3-6 now :)

I have a poorly toddler here so not much sleep in last 2 nights. Baby has been very good but my son is really struggling, poor chap. Feeling pooped but hopefully he'll start to feel a bit better soon.

Hi mummies, looking for some opinions whilst I wait to see the pediatrician (saw the midwife yesterday).

My 10 week old has started the following stuff lately (none of this was happening before):
-about 10 days ago, started to have disturbed sleep, legs violently to his belly, moving head frantically from side to side, scrunched up face and loud grunts
- about 4 days ago started to regurgitate a lot more than his usual tiny spit up, regularly after every feed and seems in pain when he does so.
- breastfeeding has become a real hassle, with kicking, back arching, pulling at the nipple, complaining and even crying at the breast. He does more on the right breast (the one with the most milk), where he virtually refuses to feed after a few minutes. This is all new since Friday as he was a good feeder till then.
- tried to feed him expressed milk by bottle, refuses. By syringe, takes only a bit
- burping is an ordeal, resisting burping positions, crying and protesting. Again only a few days.
- he seems to find comfort in sucking his dummy or whatever comes to hand, more than usual.

He's never been a particularly colicky or sicky baby. And outside feeding times, he's fairly content, smiles, plays.... Although his sleep is pretty patchy with the loud grunting and wants to feed more often than his usual 1-2 night feeds :-( (I'm knackered)

I guess it's reflux. The midwife said it was just "a tummy bug" and to sit it out, but today I just felt all the puking and hassle around feeding required a pediatrician visit.

Anyone else has had similar things with their LO? Advice? Suggestions? Ideas?

Sorpresa my son is much the same. I was told by GP it was reflux and he was prescribed Gaviscon which has had no effect. We are going back to GP tomorrow. I'll let you know if they say anything useful.

Yes, please let me know. Does your LO also kick and moves his head side to side, and grunts during his sleep? We had an awful night, as he wakes every hour with his thrashing around....

Pediatrician did say it's reflux, and prescribed motillium and omeprazole (for the puking). I asked about antacids, but he said they're not as effective as this stuff he's given us. Shame we have to already medicate them so young.... Doctor also said this will take minimum 5 days to work and to stop the medication if there's no improvement by 1 week.... Fingers crossed!

Moving his head from side to side and kicking, yes. Just back from GP. Have been prescribed ranitidine now. Supposed to give it two weeks to work. Will see how it goes.

Anyone else's little one trying to roll? Nate is on the floor in front of my giving it a good old go and getting quite frustrated with himself. He's managed to get onto his side a few times.

Sorry to hear your little ones are going through this my ds1 was like this but gaviscon helped him. Hopefully they'll be better soon xx yep my little fella is trying so hard to roll over its so funny when he's trying it in the pram cos the whole thing shakes with him lol

Had Oisín for his 3 month check and he's doing brilliantly he now weighs 13lb 3oz and is 62cm long! She was very happy with him and I couldn't be prouder :-D

Sorry to hear some if your LOs are suffering. Hope they improve soon.

GP weighed Gabriella yesterday...she's 3.65kg (was 3.17) at birth so not a lot heavier. But, DD1 was exactly the same so I'm not overly worried. She'll be weighed again next week with jabs so I'll see if she's gaining ok.

And, she finally did a poo!...so prob weighs less now, lol. I gave her one dose of laxative and a couple of hours later there it was! Just kept coming, lol.

I've got cystitis now and it is a b*tch!

I can't find Alfie's red book anywhere :(

Turned the house upside down and inside out and I can't find it. Maybe the health visitor took it with her by accident last time? Argh it's so frustrating.

Alfie is such a chatter box now and is rolling onto his side some days. He's going through a stage of not napping at all during the day, but he's going down at 10pm and not waking until 6.30/7am which is nice :) but I'd like him to nap during the day too otherwise I don't get anything done! He seems happy enough though, I guess if he needs his naps he will have one. I have tried to settle him but he would rather be playing!

Jolly81, can I be added to the front page please. I had my baby boy Rayyan on 5th Feb weighing a teeny tiny 6lb 1oz.

Sorry if this has been spoken about before, but do you all have a routine now with your babies? I've figured out my baby's morning routine but it all goes up in the air when afternoon comes around and he gets so so fussy at around 5-6 which is when his daddy gets home and thankfully takes over

Welcome MissyAK, what a lovely name your boy has!!

Ceecee, hope little man is OK now?

Hope everyone else is good?

Bee has been to the GP twice this week as she has a cough - nothing serious but I worry [James had a 3 night hospital stay with viral induced wheeze when he was about 13m]. She is so weeny as well, it seems such a shame for her to be poorly already.. James never caught anything until he was much older!

I guess it's good for the immune system though?

Bee is in her 3-6m stuff now and instead of dwarfing her, she is actually filling them quite nicely
I hope she doesn't grow out of them too quickly!!

Also meant to say I've started buying in bigger sizes and I'm banking on some warm weather this summer....

I have loads of gorgoeus 6-9m summer stuff. In fact I've spent so much money it's ridiculous. I can't resist though and I've not bought myself anything!!!

I'm weirdly jealous of all your wee ones moving up the sizes! I've bought gorgeous bits for summer over the last few months and Caleb just isn't growing lol! He's still in his 0-3 month stuff and some of that is still pretty big on him!

I was starting to get a bit paranoid about it (few mums trying to reassure me said shops have different sizing and John Lewis and boots clothes were pretty small-one time he was in John Lewis 0-3 months and the next time his boots jeans had been too big for me to put on him!) I went to get him weighed on Tuesday and he's 14.5 lbs so no issues with his weight-he just seems to be a funny shape or something?! X

He is better now nat, thanks for asking. Baby clothes are so addictive aren't they!

Hi missyak. Love your sons name too :)

We are having lots of cooing here and rolling to the side. My son was late doing almost everything (apart from being born...3 weeks early!) so it's weird for me that she could be rolling properly soon already. These first 3 months have completely flown by!

It's odd isn't it Taboo? How there can be such a variety in shape / size with the little ones?

Bee was 10lb 9oz at last weigh-in - albeit that was 4 weeks ago so I assume she's gained a few lbs at least so she isn't massive.... she is filling her Tesco and Sainsbury's 3-6m baby grows already [unless I shrunk them lol]. Next seems a bit more generous is size thankfully... we have mainly Next stuff as I love the quality and designs.

No rolling here yet but lots of cooing and she is so bloody nosy. Seriously she can hear a pin drop in the next room and wants to know what is going on!

She is managing 4 hours in one go most nights, which isn't nearly enough for me. She still hates her crib though so she often ends up in bed with us and then me on the sofa and her in her chair (that is where she sleeps best at night and does her 4 hours!!!). I need to get her into the crib properly but she is so feisty and the times I have tried have ended up in very little sleep for either of us.... OH and James have also been woken so I tend to do what I know works.

Feeding is going well, I have mastered laying down feeding - although since doing that she'll often fall asleep on boob [but having a suck here and there iykwim] and that is how I have to try and sleep which doesn't make for a relaxing kip.

Am managing to get out with the kids every day now which is excellent. The weather has been great so we did a few parks this week and had picnics for lunch. James had his 2.5 year check which went well. He is 2ft 6in tall and 2st 4lbs. It's amazing that he went from baby to big boy almost overnight lol. He is half my height already!!

Hello ladies

Glad to hear you've mastered feeding lying down and getting out and about nat.

Clothes sizes are very variable. Some 0-3 are still far to big for jessica and she must be nearly 11lb by now.

We are getting lots of smiles and cooing, its lovely but she still gets very frustrated and cries alot throughout the day for unknown reaosns.

Im thinking of taking her swimming but not sure what I need. Ive seen some costumes have built in nappy, are these the best or better to get seperate swimming costume and nappy? Where's best to buy? Also do i need to buy an inflatable ring for her to sit in? Sorry if thats a stupid question im just not sure what the norm is! Thinking i will need someone to come with us aswel because jt must be quite complicated to get changed with a baby to also get sorted! Xx

I think depending on the temperature of the swimming pool you may need to get her a neoprene/warming wetsuit mrsj like a babywarma? We've just been looking at swimming lessons for Caleb and guidance is if they're under 12 weeks and/or 12lbs they should be in water of 32 degrees or above. A wetsuit can add 1 or 2 degrees for your baby.

We have a mum that's really into swimming at our mums group and she told us to try and avoid using inflatables so they get used to being in the water without them. Also she recommended taking a robe for yourself because even with help you're going to be standing around wet and chilly far longer than you normally would! x

Morning girls!

Well done on mastering lying down feeding.

Spend the day in the pool with girls yesterday, baby not in pool, lol.

GOT to actually get on diet tomorrow...bought trainers and exercise clothes ready. It's so hard tho!

Gabriella is still in newborn clothes! Some 0-3 look ok, but most just swamp her. Will get her weighed this week.

x

We have movement..... not of the conventional kind though.

Left Bee on her changing mat as normal (so she was laying out on it properly) and I came back to this:

How the Hell did she get there?

Excuse the mess...

Nat-my niece rolled a lot, mainly so she could see tv so maybe bee is a roller too.

So cute!

Nat- so cute!! Finley's started consistently turning on his side when I put him down at night. I sense he'll be just like his big bro and on the move at an early age!!

He's 9 weeks today- time is flying by. It's also Harry's 3rd birthday today so we've had a houseful of family and both boys have been great!
