***Jan & Feb Mummy and Baby***

Glad all went well at your group.

I still don't know how to feed laying down lol.

I have a very grumpy baby today. To be honest she's a pretty grumpy baby in general (compared to James who was an incredibly easy and happy baby!!) but today has been a tough day. It doesn't help that James has been hard work. He was an angelic baby but is a bit more high maintenance as a toddler.

There is another leap at 12w, she is 11w today so it shouldn't be affecting her yet.

X

Nat I didn't have a clue either but have done some you tube research and think we are getting there.

Jessica has been really fussy and grumpy for a week or so. Todays been a bit better but i know how hard it is! Hope she settles soon for you.

I find Jessica is much better when we actually go out and do something. She always seems alot more content and happy when we are around other people. Maybe i bore her lol! X

Hope today is a bit better for you Nat. I've had a couple of tough ones when Joe has been difficult and it makes it so much harder. 1 being awkward is managable but when they both are, you just pray for bedtime to hurry up lol.

I think we've just hit the 12 week leap here and there is a growth spurt around the same time too apparently. Little miss is not particularly upset or distressed but she is being fussy on the boob and difficult to settle afterwards. We've got 2nd lot of jabs this afternoon too, so should be fun lol.

I did have her weighed yesterday and she was 13lb 6oz, so 5lb 9oz up on her birth weight and has put on 2lb 3oz in 5 weeks lol. I'm glad she's gaining nicely as I know some breastfed babies can be slower gainers than FF babies to begin with, although it all evens out in the end.Stuck in that awkward inbetween stage now though where her 0-3 is too short in the legs but 3-6 is ginourmous.

With each of mine, a mw has shown me how to feed lying down in the "rugby clutch" position.

I feed lying down all the time...at night I don't get up, just scoop Gabriella in with me. It's not as easy for her to latch, so she falls off every now and then. The worst bit of that is the noise, drives oh mad, lol. And I do have a love bite on my boob! Apart from that, it's nice, she can be really close to me, have a cuddle and then we fall asleep :-)

I do too omg. We co-sleep and she just wakes, latches on, feeds and goes back to sleep. I have to do the occasional nappy change and she sometimes needs a burp but we get so much more sleep like that.

I do have a super king size bed though and hubby is overseas for 6 months with work so it's only us in the bed

I have been awakened at 3am for the past few mornings by very noisy lip-smacking/sucking noises as the baby has decided to suck his fists/thumb now instead of wake up crying for food in the middle of the night! Funny times..

I'd like to feed lying down/in bed but I fall asleep during most feeds (for some reason I find it very tiring?) so a bit nervous that I would end up crushing the baby by accident.

I could never bear to use scratch mits as they love to feel things with their hands and it helps them develop. They say that they soon learn not to scratch thenselves and it has been true for us. Of course they still get a scratch from time to time, but not often.

I found integrated scratch mitts a god send with the cold weather as Bee's poor little hands were always so cold.

I dont use them now except after she nods off at night as it's still chilly.

The HV told me they learn not to scratch themselves with James. .. he never learnt though!!! He was still scratching himself when he was 3 months old (despite me keeping his nails trimmed)

X

Joe was a scratcher so I used them quite a bit in the early weeks with him.

Freya has only scratched herself once in 12 weeks so I haven't ever bothered using them with her. Funny how your own children end up being so different when they are raised the same...obviously nature and not nurture!

Tinsel, when I feed and sleep and lying down, her body is tucked in towards mine so her head is by my boob and her body curls in so her feet are by my thighs and my bum pokes out. Sounds weird but kind of like a ying-yang lol. The arm I'm led on goes above her head and behind her and the other one goes in front of her. I'm aware of her all the time but can still sleep. It's hard to explain lol. I'll try and logon to laptop tomorrow and post a pic as can't post on my phone

I've woken up a few times to Caleb looking like he's been in a sword fight - I cut his nails twice a week but still doesn't seem to be enough!

We've stopped using the mitts as he's also found his thumb and likes sucking it when he wakes up in the night, bit noisy as he's still getting the hang of it so there's a lot of lip snacking but keeps him content for a bit longer! x

Gabriella has scratched herself a couple of times, but not too bad thank god.

I didn't even buy mitts this time...never stayed in with other 2! I've only got a few baby grows with fold in sleeves, and they're 0-3 and just swamp her. Today, she's in the outfit she wore at hospital first day...it still looks big!

Might go and weigh her soon...they have scales at pharmacies here so may brave it.

Also need to book in her 2 month jabs for next week or one after, so sad! Need to figure it all out tho. I'm glad she's not my first, it would be even more scary not speaking the blo*dy language!

Must book spanish lessons, lol.

It's so quiet in here at mo...where is everyone!

Hello ladies! I didn!t know about this thread, stumbled upon it just today!
Hope everyone is well :-)
Im loving being a mummy to my baby boy Rayyan :-) cant get enough of him.
I cut his nails yesterday, was a struggle

Welcome Missy. Congrats on your little boy.

Ive trimmed and filed jessicas nails aa well as i could with her wriggling all over the place!

It has been a bit quiet, guessing everyone is enjoying the sun :-) xx

I used to bite DD1 and 2s nails as I was too scared to get scissors near!

Hi ladies hope you are all enjoying the nice weather today!
Alfie has been a bit fussy this week. Wednesday he cried or whinged every minute of the day, I managed to go to the toilet for the first time at 8pm and it was like a sanctuary! He's been totally out of his routine this week, just not napping at all which is making night time a pain. We've not been anywhere this week as we had such a busy bank holiday weekend. He woke at 4am on Wednesday and all I could hear was him sucking his fist instead of crying for a feed, this seems to be the new thing! He has been sleeping through the past 3 weeks so this was a shock to the system! He soothes himself sucking his fist, so when I offer him his dummy he spits it back out. He's been very dribbly too, I'm wondering if this is very early signs of his teeth moving down.

Anyway, today we are having a better day. I put him in the bath this morning and he had a lovely time kicking his feet around. We also managed about 20 mins with no nappy on without him weeing which I think he enjoyed too. He's now napping in his swing, which he loves!

We've got him booked in for his first round of jabs on the 20th, we are also having our check up as I've not been able to get an appointment!

I've started my proper diet this week, cutting down my portion sizes, having 3 proper meals and just eating and drinking a lot better.

Well we're on night two of virtually no sleep..... no reason? She just won't sleep.

I'm getting quite desperate though and am considering formula before bed tonight as I've not had more than an hour uninterrupted in 48h now.

Bee is a much more 'challenging' baby compared to James in general but I've been getting 4 hours in one go since she was about a month.

I can cope with everything else but sleep deprivation is the worst.

Will have to ship James off somewhere today (OH is working) as I won't have any energy for him.

X

Oh Nat, that sounds pretty tough. Hope it's just a passing phase.

I know how tempting it may be to give a bottle of formula. I also had to resort to that in the early days when my supply was low as Rio was not latching properly. But that introduced other issues such as constipation and a lot of gas. Every baby is different. But for sure it made him last longer at night.

Like Bee, Rio got me used to 5, sometimes 6 hours straight at night but that has recently changed since we put him to bed earlier. He now wakes every 3-4 hours to feed at night. I'm convinced that he was overtired before as we could not get him to sleep until 10-11 pm!!

Hope you can get some rest soon!

Hi ladies.

Can't believe it's so late...the girls haven't been getting up til 9ish so I'm all out!
...bu girls I mean my older ones!

I lose track of gabriella's timings as I drop off, I think I'll start making a note hen girls go back to school so I see if she's in her own routine...we have t tried to make one. Never did with others either.

Nat-I'm sorry you're so sleep deprived. It's awful! Lack of sleep is the worst!

Gabriella still hasn't done a poo. She doesn't seem in pain, and I've read that bf babies do poo less. I'm considering a formula bottle to see if that's gets her moving..what do you think?

x

A few days...I didn't really notice until a couple of days. It's got to be about 6.

Don't remember this from other 2, but I was more combi feeding. Gabriella hasn't had a formula bottle for at least 3 weeks now x
