What a lovely Mother's day gift Sal, your OH is so sweet!

Mine dipped James' hand in paint (proper wall paint, not child friendly paint) and smeared it in a card for me

Jacob is such a beautiful little thing, I bet you get stopped by all the old dears cooing over him

xxxxxxxxx

Thanks Hun and lol at your card. I have some child friendly paint I did hand prints when Jacob was 4 weeks in his "first year" book, will do them again at 12m, it was alot harder than I have it credit for even though he was only 4wweks lol.

He said "dada" yesterday, several times it was sooo sweet, I called Mikey and he heard him over the phone. :) bless him

We were at my next door neighbour's funeral. Such a sad loss he was an amazing guy. So for the first time we had to leave Jacob with his nanny OMG I felt like I had lost my arm, how the hell am I going to cope when I go to work :-( - so not worth thinking about, I'll just enjoy the next 4months :)....
Had health visitor appointment on Tuesday, Jacob didn't grow in height at all in 4 weeks, but has grown in head circumference (gone over the 91st centile now) and weight is now 15lbs 14 (gained 7lbs in 4 weeks, whic isn't bad as he was so poorly) we're waiting on the dr but we may need to have Jacobs head scanned.
On another note though his bottom front left tooth has come through - what a big boy. Can't believe it, and he's been trying to sit up now sine a week last Tuesday.

Hi Sal,

What a big boy Jacob is getting his first tooth!! His weight gain also sounds excellent...

Sorry to hear about your neighbour. How sad...

I am the same, I have only left James with Daddy. We've never left him with anyone else

What is the exact situation with Jacob's head? What are they worried about? I thought some babies just have big heads (James being one of them, although his head is 50th centile, weight is 25th centile and height is off the graph LOL)

Awww bless James, they may be concerned about hydrocephalus (water on the brain) my Aunty was born with it and normally if there is a change in the pattern of growth it can be a symptom, although some babies are as you said born with large heads, because Jacobs is so different in proportion to the rest of him, they need to keep an eye on it he ha fortnightly measurements to start with that went to monthly but may have to be more often now they have seen a sudden growth, fingers crossed they just do the scan everything is ok and they can stop trying to panic us.

On another note, this is how I found Jacob this morning, I know I didn't leave him like this lol.....

LOL, look at him?? Little monkey!

James still wakes up where I have left him but we're going to have to go to the cot-bed soon as he has nearly outgrown crib!

I am glad they are keeping an eye on him, I know it is probably annoying having to go for scans and stuff but at least you know if there was to be a problem they'll pick it up quickly.

xxxxxxx

Oh definitely, I just wish they'd get on with it lol, I got a car mat for Jacob yesterday from b&q it was only £15, I wanted a mat for him to play on that I could put away on a night, having 2 dogs even with hoovering daily, it doesn't always pick up all the hair, so I just thought it would be better, I'm now looking at it thinking its too big for my lounge lol, it'll be great in his bedroom when he moves out the nursery but that's not going to be for a while. Lol oh well at least he's got loads of space to roll around :)

Jacob's second tooth cut through yesterday, bless him so he has 2 bottom teeth now. So please for him, he's been so dribbly, here are a couple of new piks of him sitting.

This was taken at my moms house in Monday

I just want to give him a big squishy cuddle, he is so bloody cute!

Aww if I'm ever in London I'll let you know we can swap babies for a cuddle :) x

Well, one appointment down, one to go, Jacob had his heart scan yesterday and his ECG, the registra that did his scan was really nice, he was making funny noises at Jacob to entertain him and Jacob was holding his wrist while he did the scan. By the end of the scan, the registra showed us on the screen Jacobs thickened heart wall but said that at the moment Jacob's blood is flowing through it fine so they won't need to do anything for the time being and booked another scan for June.
BUT when I asked if Jacob's thickened wall was better, worse or the same as last time he seemed to avoid answering me, he just said on the last scan it was thicker and on this scan it is thicker and as for the the pinch in his aorta, he just said that they don't need to do anything at the moment. He said he will send us our letter in the post and that he needed to look over the other scans, usually we are told if its better, worse or the same so I feel a bit fobbed off, obviously it is good they don't need to operate etc at the moment, but it would have been nice to know if it looks like that is in his near future or not.

Next appointment is Friday for his head. X x

Glad to hear that things are moving on with his appointments. Does he have aortic coarctation and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy?

They've not diagnosed anything as of yet, they are looking out for HoCM though, as for his aorta I'm not sure what the pinch is x

Well today has been interesting, Jacob has been for his second hospital appointment of the week and his consultant wants him to have a CT scan on his head to check for hydrocephalus, his measurements now are... Head (46.2cm) 98th centile, length (62.2cm) below 0.4th centile and weight (16lbs 12oz / 7.6kg) 25th centile; I'm now awaiting the scan appointment through the post, the scary part is he has to be sedated for the scan as obviously they need him to be still. :-(

Poor Jacob!

I imagine you are not at all keen on the idea of sedation BUT they need to check [and rule out] these things.

It is one of those things bub will never remember though sweetie, it will be worse for you and Daddy.

xxxxxx

Thanks hun, it's horrible, I had to sign the consent form today I know it's what we need to do but I still don't want to. I just hope it comes back clear, his consultant plans to see us again in a month with the results so it'll be pretty soon I can imagine, although we have our first family holiday booked 20th May, so fingers crossed we hear by then. X

Still no news on Jacobs head scan, but Birmingham have sent us a letter regarding his heart investigations saying that Jacob has Mild Left ventricular hypertrophy and Mild supravalvar pulmonary stenosis, also the test he has had done rule out most the causes of cardiomyopathy but given that my dh has HoCM and the echo findings, Jacob may have mild HoCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). He's got another heart scan at the end of June and they want to do another 24hr monitor later this year too.

At least they are on top of things hey??

Are you happy with the care little man has been receiving?

xxxxxxxx
