well sat in hospital all day, didn't get taken to Birmingham as they have decided after his scan they wanna monitor him over night and there are no beds available, new cross have offered to do the over night observation here so I just litterally get taken have the echo and get brought back but Birmingham said no = wasted day!!!

Not the greatest echo, they think Jacob has a heart murmur and also might have a hole in between his aorta / pulmary artery and a fast heart rate, due to the heart speed, can't be sure, had another chest xray and being referred to Birmingham children's hospital, gotta stay at new cross till Birmingham have a bed for us so will probably be here the night now.

Not the news you were hoping for.

I am sure you've already been over it all in your head and you know logically that it is better to be aware of any possible complications, knowledge is power and all that??

we got to Birmingham at about 5:20pm yesterday (taken by ambulance, sirens on etc) as soon as we walked through the doors onto the ward the cardiologist took us for Jacob's scan. There is no ap window (hole in the artery) YAY, but there is a pinched in bit of artery they want to monitor, also the wall of his heart is thick which could suggest that he has the heart disease his daddy has (not diagnosed but consultant is very suspicious). We were told they wanted to transfer us back to new cross but unfortunately there were no beds there! They then wanted to keep us at Birmingham they even said to us if we'd have just gobe for the scan with a bed kept at new cross for us we wouldnt have to stay there (this after 48hrs of bew cross trying to do exactly that and being told no) At this we were that annoyed that we pusheded for all the obs to be done and had Jacob's bloods and urine samples done and managed to get the staff to discharge us at 11:50pm with a prescription to collect from our local pharmacy.

Hey hunny, Jacob is doing ok, ha more bloods last Tuesday and was weighed at 9lbs 8oz, we've got to go to hospital for more bloods again next wednesday for his anaemia, also he has his 12 week jabs booked for Tuesday. Can't believe he's 12 weeks tomorrow he's on iron medication that he hates and he's still on his multi vits. He's also slept through the night for about the last 1 1/2 weeks, so he's doing really well

He's not yet in his own room but when I put him down in his cot whilst I sort out his changing station to change him he loves looking at the art work we did

Yeah we get stopped a lot, people always ask his age as they think he is newborn because if his size so when I tell them how old he is they look at me like I've gone mad. Lol
Yeah I'm definitely thriving, can't believe how lucky I am to have Jacob, after all the previous problems, he is the most amazing little boy, such a little fighter, meeting his daddy and having him are the best things that have ever happened to me. X

Thanks ladies, Jacob's coming on leaps and bounds, although now (as of hv appointment on tuesday) the hv wants to monitor his head as apparently it's coming up large in their scale.... FFS!!!!
But he was a good boy for his 12 week jabs and 8 week recall - bless him.
Also yesterday he had to go for more bloods at the hospital re his anaemia, they're hoping that the levels will be ok and that they won't need to see him for another 3 months FX!!!!!

I know it's not ideal to still be under the HV but better for these things to be monitored than for them to be missed???

Jacob's anaemia results came back Thursday, his haemoglobin has risen to 11.2 which is good, he is still classed as anaemic but it's better than it was and we don't have to go for another 3 months woo hoo!

Next appointment - heart scan!

Jacob and I went to our first session at baby massage today, it was really nice, Jacob seemed to enjoy it, we only worked on legs today, were doing belly next week. Jacob's already trying to charm the girlies, out of all the babies that were there, Jacob spent 90% of the session looking at the little girl, and the other 10% looking between me and the group leader lol. Bless him.

Jacob went for his head measurement again on Tuesday, it came up that he is following the 91st centile line which is a good sign as it means it is not growing faster than expected, it's just larger in comparison. He was also weighed and is now a whopping 11lbs. Yay
