February 2018 Mummies - the final hurdle

Eeek!! Not long to go now beau and Wednesday!! Hopefully you can have a last min treat today! Some pampering!

I have some awful period type cramps and have had them since yesterday not sure I can do another 12-22 days of this!

Maybe you wont have that long Crinkles! Fingers crossed!

Pre op is at 2pm so I have just shipped the 5 year old off to school and will have a nap

Iv just dropped my daughter at playgroup now off to hospital for blood tests! Think might have lunch out with my mum today and then will be back home checking I haven't forgotten anything!

Ahh I hope not! although I have a feeling I'm in this for the longhaul....

Hope your pre op goes well! forgive the silly question but what happens during pre op??

Hopefully by this time tomorrow you will both be holding your little ones!

Crinkles ill let you know once ive had it - I honestly have no idea!!

Im just sat in the waiting room now

Crinkles, pre op they talk you through going into hospital and the operation. Measure your height, weight and bmi. Take bloods incase you need transfusion. Measure your leg for stocking size! And give you some tablets to take the night and morning before the op to settle your stomach, think that's it lol. Although I had mine last Thursday and had to go back today for bloods, wasn't very happy they didn't do it all in one go x

 

[Wednesday]

So for my pre op they have -

- told me risks
- given me a consent form to sign
- given tablets to take tonight and tomorrow morning
- given a high carb drink for tonight and tomorrow
- told me to be in hospital by 7.45am tomorrow
- said I had to wear surgical stockings but not measured me
- took my blood for blood group and a full blood count
- blood pressure and Doppler check

I havent been weighed or measured. Ive briefly spoken with the doctor - waiting on anaesthetist now

Its all feeling a bit real

It's so different in different areas isn't it Wednesday, Iv had no high carb drink. Don't sign my consent forms until tomorrow and don't meet the dr or anethetist until tomorrow! Also no blood pressure or Doppler check. Iv got to be in for 8ish in the morning. Unless there are any emergencies I'll be going down to theatre at 10. I'm starting to feel a bit emotional now, feel like if anyone says anything to me about it I'm going to cry lol x

Spoke to midwife. My consultant is on sick and likely not back before my appointment on 13th. So no date as yet and likely won't even get on the waiting list until 38 weeks. For a csection at 39.

Absolutely fuming.

To top that off she can't even see if someone else will deal with it. My notes have gone missing. So without knowing what he's put in my file they can't do anything.

I swear the complaint is going to be massive. Really sick of having to chase up appointments and scans and having to constantly control my own care.

Tor just had to comment about the breastfeeding and birth weight. Both Harry and James were late babies and neither lost weight by day 5, Alfie was 16 days early and lost 4.7% of his birth weight (130g) and didn't get back up to his birth weight til day 14. I was so worried something was up with my milk but it was fine he was just a slow gainer, I fed until he was 11 months when he stopped himself xx

Oh wow so very thorough then! A lot more goes into it than I thought... exciting though!!! By this time tomorrow ladies you'll be having some snuggles! cant lie I'm a tad jealous lol! but ever so pleased for you both!!!

I'm not exactly in a rush. As uncomfortable as I am I can wait a few more weeks if it's good for wriggles.
But not being sure I'll get a date in time for elcs or whether I'll end up having to fight for emcs whilst in labour is a stress i just don't need.

Got my growth scan tomorrow and if growth is still declining may be looking at induction.. really hope not as we are slap bang in the middle of decorating and house is upside down.. could do with at least another week or two lol

I’m doing ok. I’ve heard from a colleague of mine that the boss at work has told all of my counterparts that I’ll be slotted into one of the jobs in the structure and that the 2 remaining redundant posts will be out of the 5 of them. Be nice if they’d told me that! But having said that I didn’t answer the phone so it’s my own fault really! Baby is ok. Has been quite settled today.

I’m just worried about my mum. She’s had a scan and they want to see her this week which is quite worrying.

Yes I had a bit of a cry when husband got home from work! Try not to worry too much though, although easier said than done! It's all just starting to feel real now, was thinking it could maybe just stay in there 😂
