***August Mummies Final Hurdle! ***

Good afternoon ladies! Just got back from my sweep and Sofia is at my mums for another hour so I have one hour on my own to drink a tonne of tea and be merry lol! Sweep went well, midwife said it was much easier to do, she can feel waters bulging and baby's head. Also stretched to 3cms so at least I have made a tiny bit of progress! Nothing too exciting but I guess it depends.
That was officially my last community midwife appointment, my next appointment is Weds 17th ready to be induced that day, I will be 12 days overdue by then lol! I hope this baby doesn't make me wait that long but what will be will be I guess, not a lot we can do about it eh!
All I know is that whatever they say about second babies being earlier is a load of crapppppp, and nothing you do actually does induce labour they literally do come when they are ready. I have pretty much accepted that now and the only bonus is that I have had loads of extra time off with Sofia just the two of us which usually we wouldn't get and its just in time for her to get a sibling lol.

I am soooo bloody tired again, I can't believe how much my body wants sleep at the moment it's crazy.

How are you all ladies!? Summer, one thing I HATE is all the text messages. I get it, people want to know but jeez give us a chance, it's not like people aren't gonna know once the baby is born! I don't mind too much the family members asking because they are going to, but I have friends that keep going on about it and some of them aren't close friends so that to me is just pure nosiness. Annoying. xxx

At least things are happening for you, I doubt you will need inducing though. X

Summer that is exciting about your boobs leaking, do you think you'll give breastfeeding a try then?

There's that saying "when the fruit is ripe, it will fall from the tree." I keep repeating that to myself in my head, to try and stay patient with the wait. The end of pregnancy is sooooo long.

This says it all...

This says it all...

Haha, exactly!
Doctor told me it were contractions yesterday and it could happen again without labour starting. Yay... On the other hand she said baby's head is fully engaged (she kept repeating how low the head was like she didn't believe it herself lol) so if things start it will go quick and to come immediately, not wait until contractions are regular 5mins apart. Which means I have to go in if I get another episode like yesterday. Which means if that happens tomorrow or next week, hubby won't be home from work in time to bring me to the hospital. I have to see how we can arrange things, cause I always thought I'd call him if things start, he could leave work and we'd arrange a babysitter together or if urgent I could call a babysitter while he's on his way. But it takes him over an hour to get home. I can't let him come home at the first twinge I feel without knowing if it will lead to something, so he might not get here in time to take me to hospital. Maybe I'll ask my sister to stay here next week if possible for her. The closest living family member is my FIL and I don't want him to have to drive me and hold my hand during labour ;-)

This baby has been very active this afternoon constantly stretching which at times actually hurts! Lower back and low tummy pain I wish these were contractions but think it's just movement pains or BH

I get movement pains, they take my breath away ... Sometimes I have to breathe through them, then I look at the panic on my husbands face:) x

The texts really are annoying aren't they. Even people on Facebook telling me what to do to get baby moving, everybody knows what works to bring baby on then they don't reply when you've said "done that still overdue" lol I think my patience is just non-existent at the minute.

Hopefully your sweep does the trick Lexi.

I've had more bloody show but not thinking anything into it as I've had so much of it now.

Talking of sleep I've just had a 2hr nap!

Aw Flo that sounds so exciting but a bit rubbish that hubby won't be there in time, I'm sure it will all work out though.

My bubs hasn't moved much for the last few days I think it's just ran out of room in there. When I got checked on Sunday all was good and was good hb at midwife yesterday.

Have we all had a good day?

Thanks Summer, Il see what she says about a sweep on my due date then!

And I hear you all about these active babies, I take the bus into town as hubby takes the car to work, and the stopping and starting motion of the bus makes little one wriggle like mad, it almost takes my breath away it's that strong!

Summer I remember you saying you won't be able to breastfeed but if your boobs are leaking do you think you might be able to give it a go? That is cool if you can!

I am getting niggles and that's about it. I hate that since 36 weeks I have had a tonne of signs of labour, head fully engaged, upset tummy, 4 shows, and still absolutely NOTHING! It is so so weird! I don't know what this baby is playing at haha, my mum took this week off to help with a newborn, instead she's pissed that she's wasted a week of holiday lol. She goes back to work early next week.

Adam is well and truly fed up (ironic considering I am the one carrying this baby lol) and he's a bit moody actually! Think he's just a bit gutted we haven't had him yet and he's not been able to take any time off yet because he is gonna finish work once we actually go into labour but at his rate it will never happen! xx

No I'm still going to bottle feed. Everything is all set up for it and I just know it'll help me be less stressed as oh will be able to help out lots.

Ah that's rubbish your mum has effectively wasted a week of leave. Take it she's not able to cancel it now and then rebook some later on?

I seriously hope all out babies make their way soon.
I'm not sure how much more of being over due I can mentally take and it's only bloody day 1!

Don't no how you ladies are managing, im gonna lose my marbles if he's not next week!
I've had tummy ache today and Im getting tightenings belly button height but not often and not very painful, is that BH?

Can I ask you ladies a question, what is a sweep? What does the midwife do? My hubby asked about it as I'm booked for one next week but actually I'm not sure, I don't want to google as I'd probably scare myself!

Nicki a stretch and sweep is when your midwife will use their fingers to 'stretch & sweep' and by that they'll use a rotating motion during an internal exam to move the membranes of the sac away from the cervix. They can only do it though if your cervix is favourable. Some find it really painful some aren't bothered at all by it.

Yeah basically what summer said - they shove their fingers up there, go into your cervix if its favourable and move the membranes away from the cervix which releases a hormone that is the hormone that starts labour (don't remember what it is called) and they can feel your baby's head! Gross! It was really uncomfortable last week but todays one didn't hurt one bit. It isn't the most glam of things to go through but it isn't too awful.

My mum can't move her leave summer because loads of her other colleagues have annual leave booked so she has to be back by then and she has already sorted the rota at work so can't even cancel it apparently... with any luck this baby will turn up at some point and she might get a day or two to help out as that is why she booked it in the first place to help with Sofia and to help if we needed her to quickly come over in case I needed to go to hospital!

God this waiting game is so boring! I have zero bloody plans the next two days so I don't know what the hell I am gonna do with myself as I thought these days would be filled with feeding and nappy changing and giving birth and all those things that come with babies  not sat around like a fat whale waiting and waiting! ahhhh!! xx

thanks ladies that's pretty much what I'd guessed, you no what worries me most is that she'll be grossed out - I've got a lot of discharge going on (sorry tmi) I have to wear a pad now all the time. I said to hubby if I had a slow trickle water break I wonder if I'd even notice!

Honey don't you worry, these people are trained to deal with poo whilst people give birth, they literally shove a glove on and go in, they don't even look at what they are doing its amazing really, the midwife said her fingers are like her eyes in these sort of situations! Hahaha! xx

Yes nicki don't worry these midwives do it day in day out & like Lexi said even deal with women pooing themselves in labour. For them it's just their job.

Ah shame she can't move her leave. Hope baby gets a wiggle on for you so mum can be around.

It's frustrating not having plans isn't it. My grandma is popping over in the morning (hope I have to cancel her haha) then I may take myself off into town once oh has gone to work I'm not sure I can manage another day perched on this sofa!

Summer: luckily it's only until the end of next week and we have a public holiday on Monday too :-) oh will try to work from home starting next Thursday and already arranged the working home starting the Monday after that. If we August mummies all have the same luck, nothing will even happen here before September I guess :-) And as the others said: midwives are used to a lot more than just discharge, don't worry about it.

I found out there's a nice indoor playground (only 15 mins walking distance from hospital, sounds safe), will take DS there this afternoon. Anyone got nice plans today or the next days? Or anyone in labour yet?

I wishI was in labour! Damn BH making me think 'ooh am I?'

I have the mw today, and again next week? My hopes are that I don't see her antenatally next week! But that's doubtful! I have become so irritable, it's the not getting comfy, then my PGP plays up, then I can't do much, it's so depressing!

Hope everyone is having a better time than me! Lol :)

Morning ladies!

Well, sweep yesterday and Adam jumped on me last night for a good bit of adult exercise, and still nothing  I have no hope do I!

Well I have no idea what the hell to do with my day today, I am just utterly at a loss. I don't know whether to ask my mum to just entertain sofia for the day whilst I literally just sit on my arse all day.

I am in a fair amount of pain now actually, my feet are really really sore, and my hips and groin are really really sore too. I was thinking of taking sofia out for the day but I really don't think I will be able to go far at all now. I feel physically pretty awful, my body is certainly at its limits now. I can barely get up out of bed or up off the sofa. The only place I am remotely a little bit comfy is the bloody birthing ball, so I am confined to that for the rest of the day hahaha!

Is it just Summer and I overdue at the moment?? xx
