Ok ladies, I’m going to start using cheapie opks as of tomorrow, how do you ladies use them? Time/number of hours hold?

I drink quite a lot of liquids so it’s really difficult for me to abstain from drinking water for a few hours before, what length of time do you not drink before? X

I found cheapies worked well for me. I'm useless in the morning so I always did one as soon as I got in from work as it was an hour's drive and usually I hadn't peed for a bit before leaving so on average I'd say I'd end up with 2-3 hours hold. If it was close to a positive I'd try and remember to use fmu the next morning but that didn't always happen!! Good luck.

I used them this month, testing a few times a day, I didn’t do the whole 4 hour hold thing but they seemed to work ok anyway, I was a bit confused at first but got a pretty clear peak x

I think i am going to go back to the cheapies too. The clear blue's are costing me an arm and a leg and i just cant afford it! xx

I would use smu, until the test started to get darker, then I would test again in the afternoon or evening. The next day I would do the same and usually stop testing as soon as I got a negative. I have a very short surge so it was easy to miss if I only tested once a day. I liked cheapies because you can test several times a day and follow the surge! Good luck @SugaryIris!x

I know! And because my cycles are so irregular I have to buy a 20 box every time! It’s extortionate, I’d hate to add up all my ttc expenses over the past two years, them, frer tests, supplements etc !

Ok so silly me wondered where everyone had disappeared to and I wondered why @chattychar1990 was unusually quiet until it dawned on me there must be a new thread - duh! Haha.

So sorry you’ve had a bad time recently Charl. God knows what that nurse saw but at least you didn’t use your preseed on hols for nothing and it was the right time!

Cheapie OPKs - I used to try to test around 2pm which is the recommended time. I’d try to hold for around 3-4 hours too if I could but if not, no biggie. I used the fermometer app which you take a pic of your OPK and it tells you how much of a peak or high it is or if it is positive. It’s not always accurate and it’s best to try to get the pics in the same lighting but it’s a guide and makes it easy for you to check/compare them. It helped me anyway good luck for August ladies x

@SugaryIris the opk I have say use urine between the hours of 10am-8pm but that’s just not doable for me as I work! So I do first morning then if it’s a line I will do another when I get home to see any difference, keep them all together labelled so you can see how the lines progressing. Nothing worse then getting them all mixed up!! Good luck, I used 13 of them this month!! still not sure when I ovulated.

I don’t know about you but with my pcos, I almost always seem to get some kind of a line!

Have you tried clear blue advanced opks? They are more expensive but I find they are a lot easier to use. I don’t ovulate every month because of my pcos and when I do can be anywhere from day 14 to day 35!

If you’ve been trying for a year and not been able to get a positive, have you had blood tests done at the drs to make sure you are ovulating?

I have been to the docs my first lot of bloods day 21 showed I wasn’t ovulating so had them repeated and had day 28 bloods, my progesterone came back at 16 which the doctor said was fine. I’ve done tests which have had 2 lines but just not bold which I thought meant was negative? I don’t know what else to do

You should try clear blue advanced opks. They are easier to read if you are struggling with the cheapies. Yes they are a bit more expensive but definitely worth it to try and help pin point ovulation.

No sign of ovulation yet but I’ve got an ache in my lower abdomen, had since yesterday and I can’t tell if it’s an upset stomach or something else

Hope everyone’s doing ok.

Can I be put down for 14th please? I’m not holding out much hope this month as both myself and OH were sick so only managed BD twice and I’m not even sure how close to O it was as my tracking went to pot slightly. I think once was far too early, second was potentially a day or 2 before O x

It’s my test day, still no sign of AF at all and I’m normally a bang on regular (1 day late) Not wanting to get my hopes up too much so going to leave it a little longer and test tomorrow instead x
