Great that you are feeling better @Hearyoume

Have any of you ladies taken antibiotics while pregnant? I was given some yesterday, as I apparently have an asymptomatic urine infection that need treating and I am worried if the antibiotics will destroy the kiddo's bacteria balance before it has even properly formed.

I've had 3 courses this pregnancy for a UTI, and I had 2 courses in my last pregnancy, they only prescribe certain ones during each trimester. I'd say you and baby will be fine x

Hi ladies I've done 2 ante natal classes this week...breast feeding and New beginnings for after birth. Got the labour one next week.

All starting to feel real all of a sudden. Actually bought some nappies and other essentials today realising that I really needed to start getting my act together.

Same here, doing the NCT antenatal course next weekend, and got all the major purchases done this week. Now feel that there is loads of little stuff that needs to be purchased and that is somehow more stressing that the bigger items. Have not even thought about hospital bag content yet. The weeks really seem to pick up pace now - they are just whizzing by. 33 weeks next week.

I am now at a stage where the movements of the baby are clearly visible from the outside. The whole belly wabbles or something just pokes up on way only to move to the other next. I think it is wee man's bum - he seems to be "bumming" around a lot when I sit down in a reclining position. Eerie, hilarious and nice at the same time. :)

Its lush isn't it....so weird but yet comforting. Bubba has had hiccups twice this week which is weird....its like another heartbeat.

I'm heading for a hot bath after log day grooming for my friend (on my horse) at a competition. Fab day cos they placed 2nd out of 40 horses so proud mum. But whacked now and realising I am going to have to start slowing up a bit.

Back to work on Monday (I'll be 35 weeks Tues) have had holiday week this week to sort house out and parents visited. But thankfully just 2 weeks to go at work then hopefully can put my feet up a bit more often for the last 3 weeks of my pg x

Oooo everything is starting to get a little bit more real. One of the ladies on my due in august fb group has had a baby girl early 33 weeks. Baby is doing really well. All the mums to be are in panic mode packing hospital bags etc. X

Oh crikey please no early bubba for me...still too much to sort. Altho I guess we have the essentials now so would cope. I'm 34+5 now so that story is a bit close for comfort! Xx

Hi ladies. Hope we're all doing well.
I've only got 1 week left of work before the holidays/ mat leave, so I've decided to start up my old mummy blog again. No idea if I'll have the time once our second arrives, but we'll see!
Check it out please :)
Motherhood, such as it is.

I was put on metronidizole a couple of weeks back.
DO NOT ACCEPT IT.
Ask for something else if they suggest this, seriously.
3 days in a felt terrible. I was vomiting and had awful diarrhea complete with stomach cramps so bad I was timing the damn things!
I eventually called the doc who said I should stop them immediately and that the 3 day dose would just have to do!

Gosh, that sounds awful. I finished my 7 days of cefALEXin capsules and did not notice any side effects. Just hoping the baby's gut flora did not suffer too much. Might eat some probiotics now to try to patch things up.

Had my midwife appointment yesterday 30+3. Mentioned to her about when do I hear about anti natal classes. She said I should have filled out a form at 16 weeks. Oh right well no one told this me or gave me a form. Now they are fully booked and have no space. This is my first baby and I don’t have a clue about anything. Annoyed was an understatement.

How annoying bless you. There was a couple at one of our NHS classes last week in a similar position that hadn't been given info until late on and were struggling to get on a class. I phoned somewhere between 20-24 weeks and managed to get on 2 of the 3 they offered and then later found a space on the third cos they ran an extra session. So it is worth keep checking back with the maternity unit as spaces do come up cos ladies deliver early.

Alternatively if u have the balls and know when the session is just rock up in the hope that someone doesnt show. Both classes we have already done where full but had people not show on the day. The midwife asst. Said she cant really tell you to do that but I think basically they wouldn't turn you away if there is a free seat x

In my experience the NHS classes only gave the basic info. I've heard brilliant things about the NCT classes though. Maybe check if there are some in your area?

Anyone got any advice for heartburn respite? I have had heartburn every single day since 12 weeks. The days when I only get a mild dose is my only respite...but these seem to have disappeared completely now. I'm taking rennie or similar when its unbearable but trying to only take these at night time or when i feel really yuck with it. Otherwise sipping at water seems to be the only thing that helps and only brings brief relief.

Doesnt seem to matter what I eat...if I sit still afterwards. Just everything gets me. Any help greatly received! Xx

Nikki have you tried drinking milk? This can either help or make it worse. x

Thanks yeah the NCT classes are fully booked too.

That's so annoying and bad! Don't stress about it too much though, the NHS classes aren't anything special in my opinion, you should be able to get the same information on YouTube? x

Yes and no. I love mill and generally have half a pint with my cereal on a morning which doesnt go down too bad. It soothes a bit but then if I drink more than a couple sips it seems to set me off the same as everything else

Thread crashing to say Nikki- baking soda in water cured my awful heartburn every time. Sometimes I’d add Apple cider vinegar too. About 2 tsp baking soda. You’ll burp like crazy and feel so much better.

Congratulations ladies!!

Also thread crashing MrsP! Although it's annoying you've missed out on NHS classes (same happened to me as no one told me about them either until it was too late) there's nothing in an antenatal class that you can't learn from Google/YouTube/a book.

As for NCT there's a lot of mixed opinion. We paid for them in the end and for us it was the biggest waste of money. It seems to vary hugely on who takes the class but essentially we were only told what they wanted us to hear. The whole group agreed that they provided no realistic expectation whatsoever.

The only benefit to the classes are the opportunity to meet other mums to be but I've met plenty of mums through other groups. Although the mums in our NCT group were perfectly pleasant, we all live too far apart for us to become lifelong friends. So it really was an epic fail in our case. The only positive things I've heard about NCT groups is when the group bonds well. I really wouldn't worry.

I get it constantly too, the only thing I find really helps is gaviscon double action liquid, I have the mint one. I've got a bottle in my bag, my bedside drawer, my car lol. It helps for a little while x
