August 2017 babies! The final thread!

Lmao omg 9lbs at 35 weeks  nope and nope if they're like she's 9 lbs tomorrow I'm gonna refuse to leave until she's out of me lmfao. Years ago I read a story about a woman giving birth vaginally to a 13lbs baby and no stitchs oh my word!!
Yeah I'm 5'7 and just generally a large lady, 'butch' as my brother says ahahaha! I tower over most my family- I'm sure I was switched at birth xD
I was told that your babies should be around the same as you at birth , erm I think not!

Ahh kiwi, be lovely for them to have the same birthday though, best gift you could give him :P x

Good luck then kiwi :)

Haha I know 9lb is huuuge at 35 weeks. Haha well I was only 5lb something at 38 weeks cos my mum had placenta issues. So mine is definitely bigger! But your pelvis is gonna be bigger presumably at 5'7 than mine at 5'2, so less likely to get stuck. Good luck though hopefully she's not too big :)

Hi all I was just catching up with everyone's updates. Hope you are all coping well!! We have had a crazy week ( can't believe his is over a week old! ) we had a toddler with a sickness bug a husband who still isn't well which has now been about 4 months of tests and illness and I am surprisingly ok! I have been managing to breast feed and express which I am delighted with as Athena was not interested at all. He has lost weight and I'm trying to express more to monitor what he eats, the Midwifes are not concerned though. We had him registered so he is official. Only annoying thing is unexpected guests!!! I don't understand why they don't message!? Last night hubby took the dog and Athena for a walk and Avery was sleeping so I went for a shower, I heard the door bell and was like erm no! I have no idea who it was but not a chance was I getting out the shower for anyone haha!

I know there was discussions about what to dress baby in, I have had the Midwifes giving me a row because he needs to be in s cardy at all times... sadly I bloody ruined his lovely knitted Cardys in the wash... put them in too hot a wash. So stupid!

Glad you're both doing well Jill :) visitors must be annoying though! I think I will definitely be sending a message to likely people to tell them under no circumstances to drop in. I hate people doing that even now! So people don't, but with a baby who knows.

Yeah I heard about that PB... luckily I've only got Aldi and Lidl ones!

Oo Jill glad you and baby are doing well :) heh I'm jealous I wanna meet my baby aha.
Lol I would ignore the door if it went while I was in the shower to. Thier fault for not arranging to come at a time to suit you... I'm going to ignore the door if I'm busy to.

Charli in herd the Aldi ones are the best but we don't have one by us just a asda and a tesco. So we just went for the little angels brand the one that's been recalled, luckily I don't have any to return although I'm a hit worried about using them now. I doubt there's anything wrong with them but I'll just have to keep an eye on her skin. Gonna use a different brand now tho, just use the ones we already have x

Aldi nappies are amazing. I use them for both kids. With Avery being so small they look massive on him. I have a pack of Asda so I will check the code! Yeah I hate when people drop by anyway, I almost cried on Monday when the midwife appeared as it was early and the place was a mess. I know she isn't judging me for having toys etc about but I felt really crap. Is anyone feeling any niggles yet? It really isn't long! Can't wait to see all the babies faces. Xx

What a pair of cuties!!!!

I've heard Aldi are good, I got some of them and Tesco ones to compare.

Has anyone had the health visitor come? Mine called and said she is coming tomorrow at 1.30!!! She sounded very stern. Any idea what they do? X

Yeah I heard good things about the Aldi ones so went especially to buy them. I don't like Aldi otherwise, the Lidl next door is much much better! My mum bought the Lidl ones just to compare haha. How many have you guys bought?

Awww they are too cute Jill! Avery is such a fab name, but OH didn't like it. Pfft men!

Not feeling anything yet as far as I know. My mum had a quick feel earlier and she reckons his head is still only engaged a tiny bit, she reckoned 4/5ths.

Walked quite a bit today so hopefully that helps. Also did lots of baking with my mum, made cheese scones, lemon and raspberry 3 layered cake and giant choc chip cookies!!

Also bought these, has anyone else got any?

Also figured it was time for one last bump pic... I still don't think I'm huge!!

Oh Misscharli snap I'm 4/5ths too 1 going to get on my ball. My midwife said to get on the express pump from 37 weeks to help start things going. Your so lucky having mum to ask. Xx

Well that was nice of her Tasha! If I just had it sprung on me like that I think I would make sure I was out...

I haven't heard anything from a HV, assuming I probably won't now either until afterwards. I've already met one of the ones for my area at the antenatal classes, and she was bonkers so if I get her I think I'll be okay. Otherwise I'm a bit scared of them tbh!

Yeah I do feel lucky to have an ex midwife as a mum, she's definitely gonna be needed once I go into labour! x

The HV just comes to your house for a chat (mine came the other week even though she already knows me) and it's just so that they feel like they are a familiar face after birth rather than a random stranger. They aren't there to check your house or anything.

So we made it to York. As I predicted it is not restful for me at all because I spent the afternoon making sure my children weren't eating stones, throwing themselves in a pond etc while the grandparents failed to see any potential dangers, sigh.
I'll mention induction to my midwife but i don't think she has any sympathy for me and I think will just tell me it's tough luck. Also it wouldn't really be convenient to have him more than a week early because my partner is working on a big thing that he makes a lot of money on in August. But then the week before my due date their aunt who should be looking after them is also away at a wedding so that would cause us trouble too. i think I'm just going to have to grin and bear it even though it's very painful.

Jill can't believe that about the cardigan - I'd be telling them to sod off! My daughter was born in December in Glasgow and she only had baby gros on and a blanket and no one ever said anything!
People just dropping round is so rude - I think it must be a generational thing to some extent. Some of my OHs family would do it in the way that they would call to say they wanted to visit in say half an hour and even that would annoy me as you have so little time to prepare! X

I'd rather just keep him cosy, both of mine have bee less than 6lbs so it due to them being small and needing extra help to keep cosy. I got the same advice with Athena too. He is still below his birth weight so if it helps him use less energy heating himself then I'm all for it. The hv visit was just a general chat not an inspection like I originally thought. Oh miss charli I love the cards. I had them for Athena, it's so cute x

That's a gorgeous picture Jill! I can't believe he is a week old already!

Tashap my HV just completed some forms when she visited so that they didn't need to be filled in when baby has arrived :)

Rose I hope your little break away becomes more relaxing and your parents helping with watching the kids.

Misscharli I also have some cards that I was given as a gift from my baby shower they are superhero ones! I will take a photo in the morning.

Also in regards to the Asda nappies they have withdrawn all of the range from sale not just the barcodes and are accepting all of them back for a refund. I had bought a couple of packs and on Tuesday I returned them and they were happy to do it. There was already 2 trollers full of the nappies that had been returned when I taken mine back. I just have pampers, Aldi, lidl and boots now as I just thought give them all a try and see what's best :)

Had my scan, just waiting to see midwife now (it's been over an hour). Anyways, baby is measuring 40 weeks and weighs 7 and a half lbs. And measuring 95th centile now. No wonder she hurts when she moves now, basically a full term baby.
Her hight isn't growing anymore though which is worrying... she's measuring at 33-34 weeks leg wise which is a huge drop. So she's small and fat? I'm tall so kinda thought she'd be to.

But like she's measuring 40 weeks... I have over 4 weeks left, surely they'll induce me. Scares me that she'll get stuck!! X

Sounds like either her head or tummy (or both) are big then PB, cos they guess the weight based on the combination of legs tummy and head. If the tummy is big then it's more of a concern and a sign of GD. But I'm sure they will let you know what the plan is. Mine also has little legs compared to the rest of him haha x

Midwife annoyed me a little ... She was all concerned about the babies size and was trying to ring a dr at the big hosp (was only atbthe small one cos was juts a scan)because the consultant isn't seeing me until 38 weeks and she thinks it's a long wait especially cossa her size now.... then the Drs was busy so she was like oh it's fineeeeee you'll be ok until you see dr at 38 weeks... :/ right.

The the midwife said that the consultant will probably want me induced when I see her at my 38 week app. Kidna annoyed they keep changing thier minds.

As I was writing this got a call from the hospital saying they need to see me again in 2 weeks because of her size now. And i definitely need another growth scan, the consultant i saw shouldn't have said I wasn't to have any more. Lovely. I love all this pissing about. :(

PB! I can't believe the rubbish support you've had. Are you 36 weeks? I have heard people say that the scans aren't that accurate and they have had smaller babies than predicted. Hopefully when you go on two weeks your get an induction date. Big hugs xx

I'm only 35+3.
I kinda hope so, but knowing them they'll change thier minds again. She did tell me that the scan might be a few lbs off either way... but really don't wanna go on to have an over 10 lbs baby which with the shes growing she will be.

Also Charli where did you get those crad things? I want some lol x
