August 2017 babies! The final thread!

Misscharli- that video is amazing, I can't wait for kicks that strong. I am so pleased your scan went well x

PB- glad your LO got moving, it's so scary but trust your instincts and call if your worried again. When is your scan?

Hoping4rainbow- I'm sorry you are feeling queasy, hope it goes away soon x

Rose83- big heads sound scary... I'm pretending birth isn't going to happen

I've got a 3D scan on Saturday which going to take my mum too, can't wait to see him again. GTT Tuesday and 28week scan and 2 x consultants appointment on Wednesday. Feels like it's nothing or loads of appointments x

How is everyone doing? X

Nope I wasn't gonna do too much with a birth plan either. Especially cos now I'm not sure what they will and won't let me have, or if they will want me to have him early. I know I don't think I actually have GD but whether or not they will want to be cautious idk.

Either way though like you Rose I have no idea what it's gonna be like so I'm just gonna go with the flow. The only thing I would like is a waterbirth, cos I've always loved being in water. But again not sure if that now possible :(

Ah I agree with you Tasha re the appts. I had 1 the week before last, 2 last week and 2 this week. Loving the time off work though! Haha.

You'll have to show us pics of the 3D scan, I kinda wish we were having one now! But OH wasn't that excited about the one today, maybe cos on a 2d one you can only see so much now. He just wants him here!

Id love a 3d scan to, see what she looks like, hubby doesnt want on tho. Definitely post a pic of LO after! :)
Same i think its cos everything has to happen at certain times.. 24 then 4 weeks off then 28 weeks. I have 4 appoitments in one week next month to lol. When are you going on mat leave?

Can you have a water birth if you have the epidural early? heh. I really want one! x

14th July is my last day at work then mat leave starts on 31st officially. Not long now :D

No idea about epidurals and ware births tbh! I guess we have plenty of time to ask yet haha.

No water birth with an epidural I'm afraid, your legs need to able to support you being on your knees, and an epidural will make you lose all feeling from the injection site down so it'll not be safe. Not even sure they allow pethidine in water births, I think some do but any more than that and you're on the bed I'm afraid

Yep exactly why I wouldn't have a water birth - epidurals all the way lol! I could still feel plenty of pain even with one (not enough to be able to move myself about well though x

Ah that's something to keep in mind then. Though I've never really fancied an epidural, I don't like the idea of not being able to move or feel anything! But I'm just gonna keep my options open, if I need it then I'll have it, but I'd rather not.

I didnt want an epidural but with my vaginismus they said id probably have to have one super early in labour so they can check dilation and stuff :/ Better than a section tho.
Water birth would have been amazing specially in the summer heat! xx

Epidurals are absolutely bloody amazing.
You can't really appreciate how you will feel until you are in that situation (of lots of pain). I never wanted one but I was begging the anaesthetist to
put the needle in. I was really impressed with mine. I went from agony to sleeping for a few hours. And I could still move my legs.
I'd definitely recommend for an induction and a necessity if they start the drip.

Ladies, I'm really itchy and have been for the last few days, has anyone else had this? X

Im going for drug free Hoping to have a water birth aswell but trying not to plan too much as i will get stressed out if it doesnt go to plan. is anyone going to the classes? Have got 3 in the next couple of weeks, Birthing class, Life after birth and feeding. Should beninterestig!

Haha well I'll take your recommendation Elspeth, like I said I won't rule anything out. You don't get brownie points for doing it without any drugs or help imo!

I have the NHS antenatal classes starting next week, though someone I know who did them recently said that the first one was just about diet, and not smoking or drinking. I think by this point we all now that lol. So we'll see how useful they are!

Tasha that might be that condition that is a stickied post in tri 3, I can't remember the name. Have a look at the thread I think it has symptoms x

I'm hoping for a water birth, fingers crossed with as little analgesia as possible but I've never really been in pain so keeping my options open if I need it! Stargirl I did my antenatal classes a few weeks back, first was the children's centre (sleeping, bathing etc) then a midwife the week after and health visitor the last week

It's biliary cholestasis they'd want to check for.
Could be a normal symptom what with this heat and stretching skin but see your midwife/ doctor soon Tasha so they can rule this condition out. They will do blood tests to check your bile acids
Xx

Hahaha Elspeth you are the same as me! I love them! Although first time I had one it started to wear off in one side and they had to top it up. I can 100% agree that I could still move and could still feel plenty with it - i needed the gas and air too. A spinal block however is ridiculous - you literally cannot move. I remember lying in the theatre and seeing these legs in the air in front of me (in stirrups) and thinking 'well they can't be my legs because I never moved them, but that's my mole' lol.

Tashap ready the sticky thread at the top of the tri 3 forum about obstetric chol- something I forget the name. It's a liver problem which can cause severe itching x

Haha so epidurals are good then really? :P

Is it easier going into labour knowing exactly how bad its gonna be or do you reckon that you felt better about it the first time? It's so far out from anything I've ever experienced I just have no idea what to expect! I think I'm getting a bit scared about it as I'm 30 weeks tomorrow, which is weird for me cos I'm not a wuss generally

Thank you so much for the advise, I'll read the thread and also speak to the consultant next week.

I have no idea about birth plans etc, do you think I can get away with just going with the flow or will this back fire? I know I'm going to be induced early x

8Happy 30 weeks Charli! cant wait to get to the 30 week point.
Babies in less than 10 weeks omg....

Hope everything is OK tash. Xx

Thanks PB! On the home stretch now, I officially leave work next month :D :D

I'm just gonna go with the flow too Tasha, that way we can't be too disappointed if we have to do it one way or the other! Well that's my view of it anyway.
