_•~•*XoXoX*•~•_ JULY 2015 Mummies-To-Be _•~•*XoXoX*•~•_

Well ladies I think my bump is now definitely more than bloat. It's still there when I wake up in the morning and no manner of sucking my tummy in makes it go away! Went to put on a pair of trousers this morning and there was no chance of fastening them up! Fortunately I've got a couple of pairs that are a bit bigger and I can still wear them for work.

I think I look about 6 months pregnant already! Have had to wear a baggy jumper to cover up! Thank goodness I've only got 2 more days in the office, then two weeks off and I can relax in comfy clothes most of the time. I know people say with second and subsequent pregnancies you show earlier because your muscles remember what happened last time and get prepared earlier, but this feels a bit ridiculous, I'm not even 10 weeks yet!

Think I'll definitely need to get my maternity clothes out of storage now and might even look at getting a couple of bump bands - never bothered with them first time round, just went straight to maternity trousers.

Anyone else think they are starting to show properly yet?

 Afternoon lovely ladies,

How are you all?

I've not been on for a while as we have been away in Prauge and then had a few days off to chill which was just what we needed!

Feel like I've missed quite a bit though!

On the names front we like Molly, Lola, Tilly & Ariana for a girl and Brody, Mason, Evan, Logan & Cody for a boy.

We are deffo having the Down's test because like Lacey mentioned we want to be prepared/research and be armed with as much info as possible if that is the case. My Scan is not until the 6th Jan when I'll be 13+3!

Someone mentioned nipple changes! Yep mine have got bigger and darker and more 'prominent' OH can't get over the changes in my boobs already so lord knows what he'll be like in a few months time haha! On the whole they are less sensitive now but the odd time they hurt like hell!

Hello to the new July mummies !

xx

Boosh, hope you had a great time in Prague. I've never been but I've heard it''s lovely there.

Bump wise - I've got a constant bloat bump which is there from morning to night. It's been that way for a couple of weeks now! I've started taking pictures weekly now to put in my pregnancy journal at home. It's definitely all bloat as my baba is the size of a prune and it's my first so I doubt I'll be properly showing until much later xx

I have a constant bloat bump - although eating is my only remedy for sickness so could be a food baby?!? Lol
We arnt having the downs test - im 100% against it, i under stand about wanting to be prepared etc as my OH had the same views but 1- i want to enjoy thinking of becoming a parent, not a carer
2- youl never know the extend of the damage so could worry over nothing and 3-id never had the second test, because the risk of miscarriage!
But totally accept.and appreciate others views and opinions its just not for me! :(

Hows everyone doing today?
Boosh how was prague?
Xxxxx

Claire & KWarbee, Prauge was beautiful! It is such a lovely city and the people are all really friendly, the Christmas Markets were on in various spots around the city which were lovely made me feel very festive! The only down side is that it is still ok to smoke in bars & restaurants and not everywhere has no smoking areas so that got to me a little as that is the main thing I can't stand the smell of! Apart from that I would totally recommend it!

We are planning our 'babymoon' for round about March/April time for one last get away just the 2 of us so looking that the canaries as at least we will be guarunteed sunny weather and warmth!

xx

Sounds lovely, I bet the Christmas markets were great. Although I agree that smoking in a public place would be really hard for me to cope with too, I hate the smell of smoke.

We were thinking about going away somewhere before baba arrives too but we haven't decided when or where yet. I was thinking somewhere in the UK but you can never rely on the weather! My OH's parents live in France so it would be lovely to visit them xx

So just ate a sweet and my.temp filling fell out :( emergency dentist tomorrow - scared about having it with no numbing injection :(:( xxx

Girls isn't the 12week scan the downs test? I have my scan Friday and wasn't offered an option to what scan we have? Bloods came back clear which is another tick and I completes on our new house today!! Yippee!!

Always wanted to go to Prague and thinking a baby moon in May would be perfect, hot and long haul I should think!

Are you all ok? X xx

A babymoon sounds fab. We are on holiday at the Seaside with family in April, so hubby says that's a babymoon!!!

We decided to have the downs test - but have already agreed we wouldn't have the other test with the risks.

Is anyone else's skin playing havoc - I am so spotty and my scalp is really dry!!!!!!

I am craving battered sausage and chips right now - trying to convince hubby, he insists for everything "unhealthy" I must have a homemade fruit smoothie...oh I may have shared a packet of jammie dodgers for afternoon tea lol

Claire: I had a root canal done a couple weeks back as an emergency appointment.

She would NOT give me an x-ray, she was pretty damn adamant about that.

She was perfectly happy to numb me up to the hilt.
Couldn't feel a thing.

It was beautiful :)

Apparently they're fine with numbing injections as they're local to the site not spread around or whatever.

Turns out I have small veins! Took some prodding to get some bloods but got there in the end! Just waiting for scan date now!
A babymoon sounds a great idea, we are moving house in feb/March so a babymoon in April/ would be lovely although I have just got back from Tenerife I should maybe calm myself down hehe :) I have spots katyjane all around my neck and jawline! Must be pregnancy because rice never had them there before xx

Oooo thanks.for that lacey!! I was starting to panic! Hate the dentist as it is!lol
feel so sick at the moment :(
xxxx

I suffered quite a bit with spots on my chin/jawline/neck around 5-8 weeks. Calmed right down now but still the odd one appearing most mornings :(

I'm back to wanting stodge aaaall the time. Had a McDonalds at about 6 and would happily eat another one right now.

Has anyone else found their symptoms have fluctuated wildly?
I lost my nausea completely for 9 days, came back for 2 days, went again for another 3/4 days then felt sick all day on Monday and nothing much since. I'm so confused!

Hi everyone! Not been on for a while and feel like I've missed loads! Hope you're all doing OK! Exciting to see lots of talk about scans :) I had my booking appointment last week but haven't got my scan date yet.

I'm confused too Crawkay! Things are coming and going all the time with me. At the moment I'm feeling really tired but it's taking me ages to get to sleep at night. Which is really unlike me. And am craving salt all the time, can't get enough of the stuff!

Loving all the name talk :) We really like Ivy, Violet and Poppy for girls but really can't think of any boys names at all! So it's obviously going to be a boy, haha! Hoping inspiration comes to us at some point! Xxx

Hi bonze, yes if you want the nuchal screening for downs they do this at the 12 week scan. It involves a blood test for you and then during the scan the sonographer measures the amount of fluid around the baby's neck. But if you want those tests you need to sign consent forms before hand and be booked in for it as part of the scan. At my booking appointment I was given the form to sign and told to keep that with my notes to give them when they do my scan. So have a look through your notes and see if you have signed anything like that. If not maybe give your midwife a ring to confirm.

Was out to dinner wuth oh tonight. Could hardly focus on the. Conversation due to stabbing pains n my boobs. Ate too much, but the worst part is the back ache. Had to lie flat on the floor when I got. Home but couldn't ease it. Tmrws gonna suck.

Prague sounds like it was lovely.

The 12 week scan is actually the "dating scan" or the "nuchal scan".
I didn't realise they were different, until my midwife offered me the choice of which I got booked in for.
Evidently, they'll still measure baby at a nuchal scan, anyways.

So, your dating scan: measure baby, go by that to work out exactly how far along you are and give you your "true" due date. (Insofar as a due date can be pinpointed).

Nuchal scan: they'll do all the measurements still, same as the dating scan.
They'll also measure the fat build-up at the back of the neck, and the bridge of the nose.
If the measurements are outside "normal", they will generate a risk percentage for baby having Downs Syndrome.
They also check a couple other things, but I can't remember the names of them... One is like, "Stevens desease" or something...
If your risk for Downs comes back as relatively high, they can offer further tests. First being a blood test (which I'd happily do).
They'll also offer you the option of a CV, or, Amniocentesis. The CV involves using a needle to take a microscopic piece of the placenta to test. The Amnio involves a needle taking some of the amniotic fluid from the womb.
These tests carry a chance off miscarriage, both around the 1:100 mark.

I missed the Nuchal scan with my first.
At his first scan, they found "bright white spots" in his abdomen and decided this was a marker for Downs, so they did the blood test.
That came back at 1:100,000,000 (one in one hundred million chance).
I stopped worrying so much then.
(The "spots" we're never explained. I ended up consultant-led, with at least monthly scans because of them. They grew with baby, then after he was born he had an ultrasound: still there. Another ultrasound, two of them were gone, and the last one was so small it was about to disappear).

The "Downs Syndrome" thread that's floating around: she got a 1:15 chance of Downs, and turns out baby does not have it.
Even a "high risk" can be perfectly fine.

A babymoon sounds like a lovely idea.

I guess OH and I are technically taking our babymoons seperately, since he lives 4,000 miles away, so... He'll get his babymoon in Feb when he comes here, then I'll get my babymoon in April when I go there...
Or, we each get two babymoons. That works too :)

Aww that sounds great Lacey! How long have you been living apart for? It's lovely that you both make the effort to go back and forth. Where in America is he?

Xxxx

He lives in Iowa :(

We first started talking in April, on the phone a couple weeks later, and since then we've never missed a day talking to each other. From the first day we messaged, then the first day we phoned each other, we've called every single day.

It's hard, but we make it work. He's next coming over in Feb, then Ima go over in April, then he's coming over here mid/end June to stay.
Visa people are impossible to speak to so it's a pain tryna figure out exactly when we need to apply for what, but, we'll get there.

Yeah, we're crazy.
But it makes sense to us.

That's such a great story! Sounds like you have such a strong relationship already. I think when it's right it's right and you make it work whatever practical obstacles are between you. Visa sounds complex, hope it all goes well. You must be so excited for 2015!! :) xxx
