♡ October 2020 mummies ♡

@EmilyMaria I guess it varies by region. My last hospital's maternity unit didn't want to know me before 20wks. They said go to the ER or the GP if I have problems before then. My GP fobs me off whenever I tell her I have pains so I really do feel a bit left in the lurch until that magic 20wk milestone. I did some googling and the hospital I'm at this time do have a phone advice line for mothers under 20wks, so that's good.

@MammaOfMany Thank you. It doesn't hurt to chase your referral up considering you're approaching the half way mark now. I pushed for my GP to refer me at 5 weeks (I was out of zone for the hospital I wanted so had to get in early) and I didn't hear anything from them until just before my 12wk scan. So it took 7ish weeks. I'm not seeing the midwife for booking in until next week (20 weeks).

Thanks for asking ladies, I am feeling better today. I guess I did too much, though I didn't really do a lot. It was mostly just really strong, constant period-like cramps but also some backache and I did have a few BH type tightenings. The pain was bad enough that I couldn't stand up and it made me vomit. Very weird. It started after I went on a walk to the supermarket, which is only about 10-15mins each way. Dr. Google advised me to drink 3 glasses of water and lie down, so that's what I did.. It took a LONG time to go away, but it did go away. I'm fine now. I'm thankful I can feel baby move enough to know they're still alive in there, if this happened last pregnancy I'd have been panicking!

I'm glad you are getting better @WinterWolf. Hopefully that's the end of it.

I will talk to my GP about the referral next time I have a phone appointment with her if I haven't heard from them by that time.

I've been having a pain which kind of feels like sciatic pain but I'm not 100% convinced that's what it is. I'm finding it really hard to get any relief from it although thankfully it's usually much better in the mornings but by evening it's really quite painful. Any ideas on ways of easing the pain? Paracetamol doesn't seem to touch it and it generally hurts whatever I'm doing; standing, walking, sitting, laying down...

All went really well! I had to go on my own unfortunately and we didn't get to find out if its a boy or girl due to hospital policy wahhhhh.

I have to go back in 2 weeks for a follow up because they couldn't check babies lips and face because of their position so yay another scan!

Feel free to post your guesses!

Yay @monkey1988 ! Sooooo cute, look at that little button nose <3 did you get a potty shot? Or can we see your 12 week scan for nub theory? X

Great pic, look at their little nose! That’s a shame you couldn’t find out. Try asking again next time just incase.

I looked on my hospitals website and it says they are happy to tell you the sex but can’t write it down which is shame because I’d rather find out with me husband. I might see if I can get round that by taking a bit of pink and blue card and getting them to put the right one in an envelope something like that! It also says you can film or FaceTime but I’ll ask anyway!

I don’t understand why they can’t write it down, yet they can touch all your maternity notes/folder, your belly and sit within 60cm of you!!! So strange.

Hi, please add me to Oct 25th. Baby number 2, we got our BFP on Valentine’s Day, an hour before we buried my nanny. Her little gift for sure ♥️ We had a private scan today and found out we are having another little boy, so happy xxx

Just thread hopping but I think the reason hospitals don't write the sex down is because the don't want to be liable if they get it wrong and end up with a nasty courtcase. I know my hospital barely even verbally tell you the sex so I opted for a private scan. I tried my luck at my 20 week scan hoping to confirm the sex but the soographer refused at the start until I told her about the private scan ad even then all I got was well I didn't see anything that made me think it was a boy lol

They don't write it down to tell you here either because of liability etc (thanks USA). Some places will do it verbally. Lots won't. Last time I got around it by saying "so, we had a private scan a month ago, is it still a girl?" and she said yes. Haha
