--x--December 2017 Snowflakes Thread--x--

Hi Nicki!

My one blessing (minus my sons sleeping trouble) is I manage to sleep okay, funny when I've suffered with insomnia for years! I'm on cyclizine now. What did the doctor give you? I'm starving right now but getting so scared to eat. Every time I vomit a food up it puts me off that food even more. I'm running out of anything I can eat! Can you phone your doctor reception and ask them to put a note to your gp to extend your sick note as you aren't feeling any better? I thought my GP was bad but yours has a terrible system.

I understand why you'd feel they're fed up with you but these things happen so they need to suck it up. They definitely can't discipline you with a doctors sick line hun so try not to worry! Have you thought any more about leaving work? Xx

Hey ladies,

I'm so sorry some of you are suffering so badly with the sickness, makes me feel like I shouldn't be complaining at all. I'm just really struggling with exhaustion. Luca's been waking every night for the past week and it's really knocked me. My migraines are horrific too. My pregnancy pillow is making me sweat profusely during the night, but of course, I can't sleep without it. Think it's time to invest in a new fan as our one is broken and I won't sleep with any windows open xx

Niki/ Leah - my god you two are going through it. This is so sh**e for you both. I don't know what to say I really don't I honestly don't know how you are both doing it.

Niki I totally see why your work would be miffed but it sounds to me like you've got a good head on your shoulders and are mindful of their position without taking the p** but like Leah says, these things do happen! I'm sure they'd think differently if you went in and threw up all over their floor ;)

Leah, do you think they'll just admit you now? You don't want to be in a position when you're faint etc and have an accident.

Lulu, I cant believe you have a pregnancy pillow already! haha... I hadn't even thought about that yet... with such a slight bump could you not do without it whilst its so humid?

Joey 4 hours sounds odd to me too? Let us know what they say when you enquire!

That's all from me girls...just checking in with you all lovelies.

Wow i love how you are all so quick to respond i was on the november forum and hardly anyone replied! Thankyou! :)
Ive got my 12 weeks scan on the 5th june and i will be 13 weeks, but in a way im quite please as i get another scan!
This is my first pregnancy and i was really nervous before my scan yesterday i thought that i had made it all up!
Ive been very luckily to have no sickness although i have been put off food quite alot so i find snacking little and often the best way to get through it.
Our scan was supposed to be 11.35 yesterday and we arrived half hour early as we were worried about traffic and parking etc, went into the waiting room at 11.05 and my name was called!! Was only in there for 5 mins as they couldnt do the combined scan but was really impressed we got seen early!
Xxx

I feel you on the tiredness karleigh! I hope your little man sleeps better soon so you can catch up on some sleep. I'm roasting during the night so I can't imagine hugging a big pillow lol. I was due in September with my son and it actually makes me thankfully for a winter baby this time round!

I'm still really hoping to avoid it Helen. I even managed a quarter of a tin of soup today. Still not tolerating much fluids but I'm trying my best! I think the faint feeling was coming from being awake so long last night with my little devil child lol. I've felt brighter this afternoon after managing some soup. I've sat with my feet up pretty much all afternoon and looked at holidays so I think that's helped!

CLL94, great you're getting another scan as a silver lining to not being as far as you thought. Sounds like your hospital is really on the ball! This isn't my first but I'm still paranoid there's nothing in there lol. I've got my booking in tomorrow and first scan on Monday. I'm counting days down like a child!! Xx

That's good news Leah! Only you know what's best and it sounds like you are a total trooper so you carry on!! ;) Any better the rest of today after the soup?

CLL94 your hospital sound amazing! Everytime I've been to EPU they've been running half an hour late, even first thing! Although we'll let them off because (most) of them are so amazing and lovely.

How you doing today Nicki?

No such luck. Had my booking in appointment at the hospital this morning and the doctor wouldn't let me go home. Hooked up to iv fluids now and getting iv anti sickness meds. I was so sick last night I wet myself! I didn't think you lost your dignity until the end  xx

Oh no! Well, they have to do whats best and hopefully it will only be short lived. Do you feel a bit better for it yet?
PS am I allowed to laugh a little bit at your last line? I totally wasn't expecting it and I just laughed out loud in the middle of the office! It's a slippery slope for us ladies now - the OH's don't stand a chance haha:wink: :)

Oh Leah, you poor thing. I really hope the fluids help and you don't have to spend too long in hospital x

Thanks ladies. Helen you can totally laugh, my hubby thought it was hysterical while I sat sobbing at what my life had become!! That's me home, thankfully only needed a day admission. Had 2 lots of anti sickness meds and 2ltrs of fluid - more than my body has had in 2 weeks. It won't know what to do with itself! I've been started on a new medication and they've managed to flush out the ketones, but if I get any more than 2 in my urine again I've to go back. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen! I'm feeling slightly brighter, trying to sip some water and I'll maybe try some toast. The lovely midwife also took sympathy on my worry and got me a scan, here's my little baby (only ONE HELEN!!!) good strong heart beat and wiggling around (crap picture but I was just grateful to get one) :) best sight ever xx

I hope the IV fluids help Leah! Great that you got a scan. :)
I know it's not ideal for your workplace Nicki, but at the end of the day you didn't plan to need to be signed off. My friend was worried about telling her work. She's taken a years maternity and an extra month and she will only really be back for the first half term before going on maternity again.

I had my booking in at 6 weeks. I messaged my midwife and she said it's because they are busy and that's why it may take 4 hours! I'll get my scan, bloods and my green notes. I don't know if they just say 4 hours in case of waiting etc. I'm really hoping it's just an over estimation and doesn't take 4 hours!

Karleigh I'm with you on the tiredness. I'm not sleeping well either. I really want the weekend just to (hopefully) not have to get up at 5:30am!

Having a few more stretchy cramps this week. Hopefully baby is growing nicely and making room!

Aww, so pleased you got your scan a bit early, it's the least you deserve after what you've been through. Really hoping things improve for you from now on. Have you tried flat coke by the way? I just remembered that one of my friends was horrendously sick with her first and all she could keep down was ice cold flat coke. I thought her baby would be high on sugar and caffeine but turned out fine and it kept her hydrated and gave a wee bit of energy.

I hope it doesn't take 4 hours for you Joey, that seems ridiculous especially when they give you an appointment so should know roughly how busy things are likely to be! Is it in the same bit that delivers the babies? If so that would delay your appointment if someone goes into labour! I've been warned that might happen with my next appointment as it's in the hospital rather than at my doctors surgery.

I finally got my appointment through for antenatal after my panicked phone call to the doctor weeks ago, it feels like it is potentially a waste of time as if things are going well it's not needed and if not, it's too late to help with this pregnancy. I'll know before the appointment too as it's after my 12 week scan. I called to check and got told to go anyway as I can ask any questions I have but it just feels a bit pointless. It's annoying too as I'm self employed and can't easily take time off but I guess its better to go and not need it than to cancel then regret it.

I'm also not sleeping great, keep waking up with cramps caused by trapped wind (lovely) and am pretty much always either too hot or too cold.

Thanks ladies :) still feeling really icky now but I've managed a little bit of soup. I'm praying it stays down! I've not tried the coke as I've struggled with water and don't generally like fizzy juice but I'll try anything!

4 hours is ridiculous to budget for being busy. I was kept waiting 45 minutes today and I was raging

Joey, that's this antenatal appointment for? Is it not your normal appointment? Sorry I don't know if I've missed something.
I've also been getting those trapped wind pains (especially because the bowel department hasn't been working) and they bloody hurt xx

sorry double post xx

It's worth giving coke a try, just make sure it's flat. My friend swore by it and she couldn't drink water either. Ice cold is meant to be the best way!

I have Raynaud's (poor circulation when it's cold), googled it and found it can be linked to miscarriage as it is sometimes caused by an autoimmune disorder. I've since had blood tests to check the cause which didn't show anything alarming but my GP referred me before the results came back just in case and put me on aspirin. I'll speak to my midwife when I next see her and see what she says, I'm happy to go to the appointment but don't want to use an appointment when someone else would benefit from it more.

Joey I had Raynauds until I had DS and haven't t had it since, maybe the same will happen to you!

Glad you've had some thorough treatment Leah, hope it helps to settle things.

Had my early can today and all going well. Still looking like my due date will be 1st Jan but I'm looking forward to my booking in appt to see if the midwife reckons I'll be early due to DS coming at 36wks x

Cold flat coke, I'll give that a try thanks hun.

Oh I do remember you saying that now, I apologise my mind is all over the place. I think the appointment will definitely be worthwhile even if it just offers you some info and/or reassurance! Xx

Thanks belfa; I'm enjoying the break in feeling dire. I'm sure it'll be short lived once the ivs come out my system!

Great the scan went well, that's fab. And just for reassurance, my sister had her daughter spontaneously at 35 weeks exactly and her next daughter was 3 days late! Xx

Oh that's interesting Belfa, so far mine has been worse since I've been pregnant for some reason but maybe it'll go after birth. I'm sure I read somewhere that it can be linked to early labour too, but maybe that was something else as I've googled a lot recently, will see if I can find it. When's your booking in appointment?

Hope the coke works for you Leah!

Here it is http://m.thebabycorner.com/page/3196/, in this study women with Raynaud's had a 24% higher chance of delivering their baby prematurely. I wonder if that has anything to do with your DS arriving early? I'll definitely go to my appointment now, maybe there is a risk for me too!
