*** Weaning Thread *** (Stage two yet?)

I've given up measuring the baby rice he has that much of it. You know the little weaning bowls? He'll have a half full one of baby rice for breakfast, and sometimes still wants more. Fatty..

Lol, thats what Glenn is like with it! he loves it! i use the little pots of Frutapura by Cow and Gate, i just pour it in and swirl it around in it, it must taste good cos he goes mad when its gone, i use it in his baby Rice pudding aswell.

ooh rach, boots have *any* fruit pots on 3 sets for £3! i got a load in yesterday (he'll have 2 for lunch!!)

Hiya

Hope mummies and babies are enjoying all their food :D

Just changed Jack's breakfast from fruity breakfast c&g to the c&g porridge and he loves it!! He had loads then only had 3 oz of milk and fell asleep so it obviously fills him up.

Still not introduced tea time but think 'm going to start that from Monday and see how we go

Dylan's had the cold for the last few days so is really only eating his breakfast (also the C & G fruity breakfast or porridge :D ) and then having some veg then fruit for his dinner. He's just having bf the rest of the time, in between sleeps! He's a bit better today though so may try him with some fruit for lunch once he wakes up

aww sorry to hear Dylan poorly.. hope he gets better soon

Thanks newmum

Was just wondering what you lot do about water with meals?

I bought Jack a sippy cup (see previous page) and I fill it a little with cooled boiled water at his dinner time but he only has a tiny tiny bit of water out of that. Should I be giving him it out of a bottle so he has a good amount of water or is it not needed. I don't give him it at breakfast cos he has a bottle after his porridge so at mo only offering water at lunch.

Like this at moment:

8am - wakes for bottle.. only has approx 6 1/2 oz because I give him a ready made carton in morning (don't like leaving the milk in fridge over night)

9:30am Porridge (brought his breakfast forward a little to make lunch time easier)

10:30 - 8oz bottle

11-1 - sleep

1:15 - dinner = 1 jar of food with sippy cup of water

2:30 - 8oz

5pm - 8oz

7:30 - 8 oz bedtime.

Does that sound ok?

Next week going to introduce food at 5pm feed I think

Hiya

we are getting on ok with the weaning, 3 small meals a day now, i give the food first, but some days she seems to just get agitated, maybe is a bit bored of it? I try a lot of different tastes with her but going to try some more this week, do a batch this week with DH is off work :cheer:

Newmum- hows the feeding going? i see you had a better night? Is LO having
plenty of milk in the day too??

My LO is on 4 bottles a day, i wonder when they go down to 3 bottles. I am sure it will be a while yet

Have a good weekend all. :)

ooohh i will get to Boots next week, they are really versatile arent they them little pots of puree, he will eat them on there own too he likes them that much.x

Re: water, I either use the flavoured ones from Boots, or put a little (1 to 10) bit of squash in the bottom to makeit more appealing. Some days he gets the hang of it and some days he's not interested. If I think he's not had enough, I open the beaker and keep it sat next to me, and just as he thinks he's getting a mouthful of food, I trick him with a spoonful of water. It gets drunk that way and I'll make sure he has 4 or 5 spoons of it, interspersed somehow with his food. That works out to be about 20ml ish, which is a decent amount :D it's a pain in the ass but it does the job.

By the way, does anybody elses baby have poo like rabbit droppings? Since he's been on 3 meals a day he only has 3 breastfeeds in a day too.. and I don't know if it's ok for him to have little round rabbit dropping poos or whether it should still be pretty gooey.. I'm not complaining either way, it's a helluva lot better than the nappy soakers he was doing before!!

I don't give Lola water i just give her baby juice she normally has 1-2oz. Is this ok? it's just she really doesn't like water on it's own so i don't bother.

She having at least 2 meals a day now, Sometimes 3 :)

Our routine ATM

7-7.30am - BF

8.30am - Rusk mixed with 1oz formula

10.30am - 11am - BF and nap

1.00pm - BF or fruit pot

3.30pm - BF and nap

4.30pm - Baby food either 1 jar or homemade depending on time and upto 2oz of juice

8.30pm - BF and bed

Then she can wake up to 4 times a night but it usally twice at 4am and 6am.

Does this seem like she is have to much breastmilk?
