*** Weaning Thread *** (Stage two yet?)

Mine also sometimes has hard ones, then sometimes not so, but never runny like they used to be !

Newmum- how was your night last night?? Charlotte threw up a bit more yesterday and woke at 520 a.m so i think she might have been hungry from not having enough yesterday. Who knows??!!

hmmmm bit concerned today TBH. :?

Yesterday and seems to be continuing today Jack just isn't interested in his milk. He's loving his food but when it comes to his bottle he's only having 3 oz or so.

any ideas? is this normal or should I mention to HV when I take him to baby clinic on Tuesday?

How many bottles is he having sweetcheeks 24? I think there is a minimum amount of milk they should get in a day, 20 ish OZ, but someone please correct me if i am wrong.

He has 5 bottles a day, it used to be 8oz each so over what he should really. He still has his 5 bottles a day just not as muc milk. Maybe thats normal though especially now he's having solids

Dylan's feeling better today, thank u. I've just made up some fruit to last for feeds today & tomorrow and I've made a pot of sweet potato & red pepper soup. We're going out for dinner tonight (my gran's 80th) so I'm going to take along some soup and some bread. This will be the first time we've been out much later than his bed time so I hope he's ok.

Dylan drinks from a sippy cup but hardly anything goes down his throat - most of it is on his clothes and high chair! I'm sure once they get the hang of it it will get better though. I'm only giving him cooled boiled water just now.

Dylan still poos a few times every day but it's much more solid now and you can tell from his wee red face and the noises he makes that it's harder to get out now!

sweetcheeks Ryan's really cut back on his milk too but I think it's because of the extra food.

last 4 or 5 days Dylan hasn't been bothered about having any food at lunch time so for the time being, I'm dropping that feed. I'm just going to give him something at breakfast and dinner time and keep with the bf - sometimes he has loads of extra bf's and others just his normal amount so I just let him tell me what he wants. He's really good at picking food up now and eating it, I just wish there were more soft foods that were easy to hold on to

We're not doing too well with weaning ATM Lola seems to have gone right off everything and just wants boobie all the time :(

She not even bother about her rusk or rice cakes and she used to love making a mess with them!
Did this happen to anyone else's LO?

I've given up with the sippy cup, She sort of worked it out then decided she couldn't do it again  so now i just take the lid off and she uses it like a normal cup.

Jack has gone off his dinner too :( He still loves his porridge on a morning he just doesn't seem fussed with dinner then gets frustrated and cries till I give him his bottle. I'm not leaving him too long either so can't imagine it's because he is so hungry

Grrrr help needed girls.

Took Jack to get weighed this morning. Chubby monster weighed 20lbs 11oz's :cheer:

Anyway I mentioned to the HV that he is still only on 2 meals a day, porridge for breakfast and 1 jar for lunch. I swear she looked exactly like this smiley :shakehead:

She said he'll never go onto 3 meals a day if he's on jars

She said I should be cooking for him and he should be having same kind of food as me, so mashed potatoe with bit of tuna or some chicken and I should only be mashing it now so he has lumps.

Now I thought you introduce lumps at 7 months

The thing is I would love love love to cook all his food from fresh but I have the following problems.

1: I have the tiniest kitchen, I moved into this house on my own so it's ikkle and it's only has room for a small fridge so I have literally got only a tiny compartment for freezer, for example I can just about fit a packet of aunt bessies yorkshire puds in there :wall:

2: I feel because of the above problem i'd have a lot of wasted food because I can't freeze it. My shopping bill is already 100 plus per week and i can't afford much more.

3: I am so unsure of what to give him so its a balanced diet, I know we have to have our 5 a day, how do you ensure baby gets his 5 a day

Oh it's so confusing, I really thought given my position I was doing the right thing by Jack but now I feel like i'm failing him giving him jars and not letting him progress cos he hasn't had lumpy stuff yet??

help :(

Newmum.. thanks so much for that link. Just had a look and feel a bit better now

Well my Lo is very variable, she sometimes just isn't interested in eating, but would happily have her bottle so its not when she is full. I try lots of tastes, well it sounds like some of your LOs are doing the same so it must be normal!!

Hello

thought i'd bump it back up as i'm moving onto stage two tomorrow or should I say Jack is.

This is my planned schedule:

8:30am milk

11am porridge and milk

2:30pm dinner and dessert

4:30 teatime and milk possibly

7pm milk and bed

I'm a bit nervous about starting him on lumps but he seems really bored by his food now so thinking texture will be good for him. I also got him in plenty of veg and things for finger food and going to give him those as snacks during the day.

How's everyone else getting on?

 hope everyones doing well :D

I was also thinking about starting lumps but don't really know where to start with the finger foods. Lola already has rusk as a biscuit which she really enjoys. Today i gave her a bit of dry toast but she wasn't that impressed just squashed it.

What finger foods does everyone elses babies enjoy?

Sweetcheeks - I really like your new signature. Jack is so cute :D
