My vegan food journal

^^^ totally agree, once you start looking for vegan recipes you can't make them fast enough, theres so many amazing recipes out there. You can pretty much veganize anything and it opens you up to a whole new world of new foods. I now eat the most creative and colourful meals I've ever eaten and so much healthier :)

The whole 'propaganda' thing is pretty much what the book above is about but from a psychological perspective. (She calls in 'Carnism' - it's quite a mind blowing).

It sounds fab! I'm gonna try to get hold of it x I've heard that a film called vegucated (I think) is brilliant-not very graphic but really thought provoking x

Ah not heard of that one, will check it out thanks :) There's a new one called 'The Ghosts in our Machine' too. I don't think that one is too graphic either, but not seen it yet so dont quote me. Also Forksoverknives is good from a health perspective x

I have forks over knives and vegucated on my twitter feed :D xx vegucated follows three (I think) omnis who are challenged to live vegan as well as find out about the industries, meet the animals etc for I think 6 weeks and then see if any continue. I've not seen it, just read lots about it x

My Veganomicon arrived the other day!!! Eeeeek!!! Making the chilli out of it now and have got spaghetti with beanballs and lasagne on the cards for this week!!!! I LOVE it! Though some ingredients are being subbed as its am American book and I can't find the ingredients!

I need a good cook book!

My OH was watching a video the other day, but I dunno what it was! Ive got a feeling it could have been an earthlings trailer? It had ethnic type music in the background and started off with chick on one if those god awful conveyor belt things and went through a few other animals and ends up with someone lay on an operating table being cut open or something! Totally not the kind of thing I expected him to watch!

The propaganda thing drives me mad, it really does! My dad's always on at me about how it's not healthy not to eat meat and I'm going to make myself ill cos I'm missing out on too many nutrients :wall: he wasn't impressed when I told him I get plenty of protein and iron from other sources

I absolutely love my Veganomicon! I'd highly recommend! Really can't wait for my nutritional yeast to arrive so I can make Seitan! X the chilli I made yesterday was the nicest chilli I've ever tasted!!!!!!!!! Kids loved it too!

I made the roasted broccoli and chickpea burgers last night! Oh my days they are amazing! They were a little moist as I couldn't find gram flour in tesco, so I subbed for breadcrumbs and got impatient  will definitely be making them again!

How awesome are they?! I highly recommend sourcing the gram flour-asda do it here or Indian supermarkets.

Made my first recipe from the Veganomicon this evening-spaghetti and beanballs. It was delicious, however, I would stick to my own marinara sauce next time. So excited to make vegan lasagne this week with tofu ricotta.

I'm sure I've seen it in tesco before, but I was ranting at my OH about eggs, so wasn't concentrating properly

I really want a copy of veganomicon, it sounds awesome! I made a huge chilli today, there's enough for loads of servings! I'm so full as well!

right I have to go make these burgers now! lol :) You might find gram flour also labeled as chickpea flour or garbanzo flour in the shops x

It is really great! I really want The Mouthwatering Vegan cookbook as well!

Go! Go now! Make them! :D  seriously, enjoy them

I'm so excited-DD is going back to school tomorrow and I can't wait to make her packed lunches! I heard that the government want every child on school dinners but I would point blank refuse. Apart from the fact that they don't offer vegan options, I'm 100% certain that the food I make is way more nutritious than what they offer. It's homemade tomato lentil soup, homemade seeded bread, clementines and pineapple, cherry tomatoes and cucumber pieces for tomorrow :D

Making vegan lasagne tonight with tofu ricotta, spinach, mushrooms and marinara sauce (my version as I dislike the books version) x can not wait to eat it! It smells amazing!

The lasagne was gorgeous! And a huge hit! X made vegan chocolate ice cream today which is delicious and a massive hit with the kids!!!

Well mummy can do no wrong at the minute! Made mac and 'cheese' last night and it was gone in seconds! Both children devoured it and I loved it too which surprised me as 1)I always hated anything with a cheese sauce when I was omni and 2)I've hated all vegan cheese I've tried! Absolutely delicious and one on my make again list!

Today's dinner is courtesy of The gourmet vegan's quiche recipe! And it's delicious!! The children asked for seconds!

Squash saag tonight with rice x it smells goooood!

Just found out there's a vegan festival thing on nearby in October! :D xx

Vegan jam donut cupcakes are in the oven!!!! :D

yummy yummy! I'm obsessed with donuts at the mo!
Got any more pics of your vegan delights? (esp the donut cupcakes!)
Your posts make me hungry :) Can't wait till I've moved house and I can start getting back into cooking properly again!
