Mummies Running Club :D

Princess...I did 4.5 miles in 49 mins and I was dead chuffed. The fact you just did 4 miles in 50 minutes without training for a year is baffling to me!

Pos thas a great time :yay: Im a slowby too. I can't seem to get below 10 min miles and even then I only did that twice and Ive since had 2 weeks off and it's amazing how fast your strength improves but it's even more amazing how fast it goes when you don't run! Im almost back to where I started after just two weeks :(

AM you're doing really well hun, doing 4.5 miles after 2 weeks off is great!

I love hearing how everyone is getting on.

Rednursie did you go out tonight? is your race this Sunday coming?

M2A how are you getting on?

Been out tonight Sassy, wanted to confirm with the doctor i was ok to run with my hernia (that Lexi found yesterday!)
Did a sub hour 10k, which im pretty chuffed about been as though i was going out to see how my knee was!
x x

Ladies how many days a week do u run? I ran 5 times last week including yesterday, I found that when I left a day out, the following day's run went much better. I didn't run today as I'm following a hal higden routine but wondering whether I should be going everyday?

Xx

I run 4 times normally (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) but as my Sunday runs are getting longer im going to be cutting it down to 3 (removing Monday) to allow my body to rest and recover.
In my personal opinion i find running without a break in between led me to injury, you do need to give your body time to recover especially your muscles. Because when your running your creating small tears in your muscle fibres, if you dont give these time to heal, over a length of time the small tears become big and all i can say is ouch and the ouch comes with a lengthy time off running x x

Thanks m2a!

I actually felt sort of guilty for not going today and was itching to go but after my run yesterday I came home had some breakfast and fell asleep for 2 hours lol!

Ok so leaving a day out is prob the sensible thing to do x

Just signed up for the local quarter marathon :yay: it's on September 22nd so still lots of time. Went for a run today and was supposed to be taking it easy but felt good so ended up doing my fastest time to date! Had a pace of 6:30 min/km. Well chuffed with that. Only did 3km though but with consistent pace.

Pos I run Monday, Thursday and Saturday. I do my big runs on Saturdays. Used to run 4 times a week but my body hated it and I soon had an injury. You'll figure out what's best.

Well done AM, thats fantastic :)

Ive woke up achy this morning, not felt like this for a long time. Going to get out of bed a do my core work so ill add some extra stretches and might to a bit of foam rollering.
What does everyone else do for their core/cross training exercises? x x

I was going to ask this coz on my Hal higden regime he suggests stretch and strength a couple of days bit I'm not sure what I should be doing?

I do a range of static stretches, lunges, squats, do core exercises like the plank, sit up, v-sit ups. Do free weights for me arms. Also do a range of leg exercises (but mix these about depending on when i run)
Might be worth looking into a foam roller too Pos, they hurt like hell at first but they dont half release tight muscles, saves on sports massages :) x x

Oo my mums buying me a foam roller. I use hers sometimes and it's brilliant but the first time I went on it it hurt ALOT! But now its ok lol.

You do get used to it after a while, the first time i used it I nearly cried!
I got mine off the net, think it was only about £20 x x

Did just over 3.5 miles tonight. My knees were hurting a bit at the start so don't think I warmed up properly. The discomfort went after about 1.5 miles.

Well done Sassy :)

Rest night for me so ive caught up with Emmerdale and now im watch the Olympics, hoping we get bronze in the high jump x x

Hows everyone today?

8 miler for me tonight, i struggled with a stitch though :( (ive eaten bread today when i should have!)
Anyone else been making the most of the nice weather and hit the streets? x x

Well done every one :) I have had to lay off it since the last time  my legs have literally only just stopped being extremely sore! It was worse than labour, seriously!! I had to take pain killers. I stretched down after so I'm not sure why it was so horrendopigs for so long :(

M2a I likey the trainers :good: x

Ill be out tomorrow but just for a 2 miler and again on Saturday. Ill be doing 20 minute runs until Monday and then going up to 30 minutes but Ill run for 5 minutes, walk for 5 minutes, run for 10, walk for 5 and run for 5. Then the next 2 runs will be 30 minutes of solid running.

I can't imagine doing 8 miles. I'd be a wreck lol.
