Sunnygirl - I sometimes post on the other threads but with having 2 little terrors, a full time job and training, i struggle to find time to really keep up with them :(

Sassy - thank you for the sponsorship :) and i hope you manage to get out this week. Ive heard really good things about the 30day shread, keep us posted how your getting on.

Rednursie - not long at all, hope you manage to fit in another long painless run. How did your PT session go?

I entered my first race of 2013 last night, to keep me going after marathon and over the winter period. Its a hilly half on 20th January, so lots of hill training and tempo sessions x

M2A no probs, I've been meaning to sponsor you for ages so when I saw SG say she'd sponsored you, it reminded me :-)

Pt session went great thanks. I am so investing in some more. I did mainly upper body work & the power plate so my legs would be ok to run today. I managed 15 miles this morning. A new route & a new playlist on my iPod so really enjoyed it. When Achilles flared up a couple of times but when I did I just stopped & stretched my calf for about 30 seconds and that did the trick. So if I keep doing the stretching recommended by my pt and get 2 more long runs in I think I'll be okay. I'm
Hoping to try 16 or 17 miles at weekend.
Are you winding down now M2A? Xxx

Yep, tapering down now, im mixing things up with swimming and cycling too to avoid further injury.

Good news today, finally been signed off by the physio for my knee so one down one to go!
Also started the beetroot juice, yuk but if it 'does what it says on the tin' then i can put up with it!

How you getting on with the gels rednursie? You should be getting your race pack soon too, then it starts to feel real :D x x

Yeah for being signed off by your physio! You'll be as fit as a fiddle on marathon day M2A don't you worry.
I just googled beetroot juice, are you taking that to increase your endurance? Maybe I will try some-where do you get it from? I've been eating lots of blueberries as I read they aid recovery by reducing lactic acid build up.
I have to pick my race pack up at the marathon expo. I plan to pick it up on the Sunday (day before) as there is a breakfast run for international entrants that morning which sounds fun.A 3.6km run & a complimentary breakfast to the sound of traditional music! Feel a bit funny calling myself an international entrant lol (I am Irish but living in London the past 10 years)
My foam roller arrived today-Oh my god does it hurt!!!!
With regards to gels I haven't tried anything other than the sis ones. Maybe I should try others? But I like the fact you don't have to take water with the sis ones. Though they are a bit on the bulky side. I need to buy a belt specifically for gels (won't need to carry water on marathon day as will just avail of the water stations) there are so many available I need to read some reviews. Seems like so much to sort out! But I admit I am getting exited now :) Will you have the day off after your marathon? I hope you do. Mine is on the MOnday (it's a bank holiday in IReland) and I stay in Ireland until the Thursday. Hopefully I won't be bed bound for all of it hahaha! Xxxxx

No day off after for me rednursie, didnt want to be sitting feeling the aches when i should really keep moving, so thought work was the best option. got a recovery run scheduled for the day after my marathon too - crazy i know!

Super excited today, just booked my parking and my nan and grandad have asked me to book them a space too because they are coming to watch me too :D

Ooh an mini break and a marathon all rolled into one, lovely :) Our expo got cancelled :( x x

Oh my god a recovery run the day after!!! Though it does sound sensible I guess!
Do you make your own beet root juice? I've been googling and definitely want to try it now but I'm worried about upsetting my tummy if I have it before a run xxx

Well I finally got my lazy ass out for a run yesterday!!

I didn't have the car as hubby was back in uk so had driven to the airport, so I walked C to child care and ran home. It was terrible I was so slow and felt rubbish but it's my own fault for lack of training.

Going to do my 30 ds today and hope to get out again over the weekend, lazy ass permitting

Holland and Barrett do little shots or Asda sell 'beet it' but for the same effect as the shots you need to drink 250ml hun x x

Thanks M2A!
Sassy at least your out making the effort hun xxx

I need a race to work towards but haven't found anything recently. Will keep looking though :)

Well done for getting out Sassy :)

Another bike ride for me tonight, had a really tough day so needed to let off some steam x x

Reading all this is inspiring me! Got to get brave and go out at night on the roads. I used to do daytimes in the beautiful local park, but need to do something!!

Hi sunny girl  I also need to be braver & run in the evenings. At the mo I only do mornings which is really restricting as means can only run on my days off. Are you running at all at the moment? Xx

Do you have an aldi near you ladies? The reason I ask is because they have just had a cycling event and they had reflective flashing bands, which are great for running during the dark nights. Also just to let you know they have a running event on starting 11th Oct, bought some kit last time as I was told its well worth a look and it's brilliant especially the socks :) x x

Another 1/2mile swim for me tonight just to keep my fitness up, rest day tomorrow, well I say rest, a full day with my 2 little terrors is probably more of a workout!
My calf seems slightly better but we shall see over the next few days, I've up'ed my protein to ensure quick muscle repair too so eggs, milk, yogurts ect x x

Thanks for the heads up M2A! I'm going to seek out my nearest Aldi now. Funny, just had my bike serviced last week & finally back cycling again after an accident last february (am a bit nervous still though!) But I really need to buy some new reflective gear. My arm was really badly dislocated (and smashed!) when I came off so the ambulance crew had to cut my lovely warm but sweat wicking reflective jacket off me.I won't be able to afford one like that for a while so hopefully will pick something up in Aldi :)
I'm off to the gym shortly and plan a long run tomorrow. Maybe 16 or 17 miles...just under 4 weeks for me now so likely to be my second last long run..the plan is 17 tomorrow then 19 next week. I'll feel a lot better if I have that under my belt before the big day. Have you got your dinner planned for the night before and your marathon breakfast? Xxx

A week to go eeeekkk!

Hope your gym session went well Rednursie, im off for another cycle tonight.
For my tea the night before im having salmon and wholemeal pasta and for my breakfast on the morning, its porridge, a wholemeal piece of toast and 2 beetroot shots.

Has anyone else managed to get out this weekend? x x
