Mummies Running Club :D

I think of all sorts of things but the main thing today was if i can do this 20miles, ill feel alot more confident for my marathon :) it wasnt great timing but i hit the wall at 19 miles and struggled.

Awww, id love to take Lexi out on a bike but she wouldn't keep still, your doing fab hun :) x x

M2A well done on 20 miles, you'll be fine with the last 6. The crowds keep you going! Also that's a really good time today hun :)

Well I ended up not running today. Had terrible night with C, he's getting more teeth (I can feel molar bumps on top gum, poor wee guy) so didn't feel up to it (I'm such a slacker).

My mum has been over for a week and she heads back in the morning so will get back into the running again this week.

AM you're doing really well, will be looking forward to hearing about your run next Saturday :)

Sorry to hear you had a terrible night with C, hope you all have a better night tonight.

I was really disappointed with my time today Sassy especially after last weekend, after 15miles was tough and i hit the wall at 19miles and then had to run/walk to 20miles but im just glad i know i can reach that distance now! x x

But you got to think that you're training for double what you did last week, so it was going to be quicker. Don't be disappointed, you can do it :hugs: The wall is horrible too, did you have any gels left at that point for a little boost?

Aww poor C, hope he's better tonight Sassy.

I done my normal run tonight :) still getting used to these new trainers!

AM can u post me a link please? Xx

http://www.jdsports.co.uk/product/s...ype&keyword=&gclid=COyNyZGNu7ICFXIQtAodImIAoA These are the ones I got. Sadly Im actually excited about trying them out again on the next run

Aw sassy sorry you didn't get to run and C had a bad night :( Hopefully he'll be better this evening for you.

M2A, how highly do you rate your watch? Does it pick GPS up fairly quickly? I take my phone with me at the moment but I want to get a watch instead. I like the look of the Nike+ one but apparently it's not brilliant at picking up GPS.

I have the Nike+ watch and find it really good. I'm not sure it's as sophisticated or has as many features as the Garmin but it suits me. I find it takes about 2 mins (roughly)to pick up gps for me and I am surrounded by lots of very tall buildings (not even sure that makes a difference!). Oh bought it for me when it first came and I must admit it used to take longer to pick up signal. Now it takes no time. Xxx

Thanks Sassy, was sat thinking and like you said its just a training run, i think mentally knowing ive done the 20miles will definitely help me on the day. Dreading how my legs are going to feel in the morning!
I never had any gels left, took one at 5,10 and 15miles, didnt have anywhere else to store anymore as my runners belt isnt the greatest but runLiverpool is offering the gels I use around the route so shouldn't have to carry many of my own, just need to look at the mile markers they are available.

Mel - i wouldnt be without any sort of garmin, the signal is the strongest out of any gps watch and they are improving all the time. I went out for a run with my mum and sister a while back and they were using a nike app on their phone, it added about a mile to their run so didnt give then an acuate reading of what they had actually done, i personally wouldnt trust anything else but a garmin, also if you want to monitor your heart rate during your run, they come with a strap (ive never used it but its always there if I need to) the best £160 ive ever spent and would advise anyone from beginner to advanced runner to put one on their christmas list :) x x

Hoes everyone getting on?

I havent been out since my 20 miles, my right shin is sore so dont want to make it worse. So ice and ibroprofen are my best friends at the moment, hoping to get out by tomorrow as its club night x x

Hope your shin feels better soon M2A.

I did a 4.5mile run yesterday. Found it harder at the end than I thought I would but did well until the 3.5 mile point. Not running again until Saturday now though :) don't think I'll get the time I wanted but I'll give it a go!!

M2A hope your shine are ok hun. I've sent you a friend request on fb, tried to message to say it was me but couldn't.

I've not been out for a while I'm feeling exhausted at the mo, don't know what's going on. But maybe if I get out it will make me feel better.

AM well done on 4.5 miles :yay:

My shin is still pretty sore so didnt make it out last night :( but im out tonight no matter what - im having withdrawal symptoms from my running shoes ;)

I picked up my running vest from the printers on Wednesday, im so pleased with it, when they held it up to show me, i felt a tear in my eye so i gather the 14th Oct is not only going to be an exciting/tiring day but an emotional day too as I also run past the hospital where i said my goodbyes to my angel baby. Heres a pic for the ladies not on my fb :)

Well done on your 4.5 miles Mel, your doing fab :)

Have you been out this week Sassy? x x

Race day :yay: Im getting picked up at 9am and Im still in bed....oops.

All done :) 6.6 miles in 1hr 15 mins averaging 11 min miles which I'm pleased with. It was the 1:10 I wanted but I really don't mind.

Now off to the pub for lunch with LO as a well done to me lol. I've got one month to train for the mud runner now!

How's everyone feeling? How's your shin now m2a??

Well done Mel, thats fab. Now you can do the distance speed will come :) Seen your medal on fb, did you wear it proudly while you were eating your celebratory meal? ;)

Im in the gym at the mo, on the bike, writing this, bored out of my brains (i hate the bike) but cant do much else with my shin :( Just emailed my PT to see whats best to do next with only 3 weeks today till the big day.

Hows everyone else getting on? x

AM that's brilliant, well done hun :yay:

M2A let us know what your PT says, gosh not long until your race now!!

I'm still feeling a bit flat so not been out, plus hubby been working loads so got no one to watch C. About to start the 30ds again to get my fitness up plus I've put in a few lbs. C starts child care on the 1st Oct so will be able to get out more then.

How you feeling now Sassy?

My PT says the main aim in getting me to the start line fit to run the full distance, so ice, ibruprofen, rest from running but keep fitness up with x-training ect. So it was the bike yesterday - did just under 17k and it was swimming tonight - just over half a mile (0.76miles) I can say i hated the bike but loved the swimming!
Im thinking if i can be brave and face the fear of swimming in open water, i may have a triathlon as one of my targets for next year (but its just an idea at the mo!) x x

M2a sorry to hear about your shin. How are you today? Sounds like you got a good PT though. I have had a whole week of no running so a bit scared. Running on holidays just didn't work out. Also today I only managed 6 miles as my lower leg had a really weird pain. I had to keep stopping and walking. Then a few mins into running again and pain came back. It's the inside of my ankle towards the back-More pain at the back so I'm thinking my Achilles may be inflamed. Very upset about it. I'm going back to the gym in the morning to at least maintain my fitness while whatever this is gets better. Ive been looking online for sports physios but having trouble figuring out how to choose one. There's a sports injury clinic near me but seems very expensive-£70 for initial consultation and £59 for follow ups. Maybe thats just how much they are though? Ah Im feeling very peed off about everything now :-(
