Ladies doing IVF or IUI - 2015 (9 BFPs!)

Nothing's gonna cheer me up til a positive call on Monday!

I would take another test to be sure...it's incredibly unfair to have this snatched away from you xx

Oh Lou I am so so sorry. This whole process is so cruel. You had so many symptoms too and I really thought this was your time. When we did our cycle I was convinced our cycle had worked and to get a BFN at the end was soul destroying. All I can give you is a huge cyber hug xx and dee I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for Monday xx

So sorry Lou, might be worth doing another test, huge hugs to you xx

Dee, I have everything crossed for Monday xx

Oh Hun we are both in for a shit weekend! I think u have done a scary but right thing!! Fingers and toes crossed for u!! It's soooo tough this journey, never imagined how tough when we set out on it.,

It was a natural FETso I am not on progesterone, cannot understand how j don't have my period, guess it will probably come in the next day or so, feel so low can't stop crying, this feels so cruel! Uggghhh sorry I am probably not helping to cheer u up dee!! Xx

So sorry to hear this :( I was so pleased when I saw your posts previously. I can't believe life can be so cruel.

Could I ask a question, for "future reference" I guess? IUI/IVF - postcode lottery, yes? I've just looked on a spreadsheet for England and I'll only be offered one round in my location. Whereas where my husbands family lives, they offer 3 rounds. Is there any way to (I'd like to say cheat the system, but that sounds awful) "change" locations for when needed?

Kitty I had the same situation, 1 round here has just been introduced but they don't even like giving clomid to people in their 20s never mind anything else, and 3 rounds back at home and a much shorter wait, fine about age etc where my parents lived. We were going to go there and say my parents address but because it's 2 and a half hours away we thought it would be too much to having to keep making visits. And worked out with petrol and time off work costs it would be better to go private an hour away lol. Also the main thing that put me off was that I have repeat prescriptions and regular checkups for my asthma and it would of meant changing my doctors and my doctors being over 2 hours drive away lol.
If it's close by then maybe it would work. :) you would have to tell them you had moved and go to the "new" gps and do the process of a referral I presume. If it had got to the stage of needing it I would of looked into it for sure. I don't think it's cheating the system :) the system shouldn't be so damn unfair lol!! Xx

I hadn't thought about GPs and what not. It's 2.5-3hours away. Obviously I don't know how frequently and what is needed with IVF, but from what I've read on here it's maaannnyy many continuous trips (and at the drop of that hat?). I guess it wouldn't be possible. But if it comes to it...

Yeah that was the issue with me, i needed my gps close by and for my repeat prescriptions etc. Worth a try though if you don't need to be there etc?
Yeah it would be a nightmare for the travel. I find ours a bit of a nightmare with the clomid tracking scans and now the bloods and scans etc. With my tracking scans they would arrange it last minute etc.
Ivf be a lot more I imagine so may make travelling difficult. People do go quite far for some clinics though I think. If it would work out I would def attempt it even if not ideal.
I just don't know why it can't be equal all across the UK. The postcode lottery is so ridiculous. Until January this year they didn't offer any treatment in my area on nhs full stop! I emailed the ccg when they wouldn't see me and said my 17 day cycles were fine and it was the pill or nothing (helpful lol) and I wrote such a complaint letter. Of course the top person who authorised decisions was a male!!! Xx

It's one round here too. I don't drive so wouldn't be able to go 'out of area' but I definitely would if I could. I will have to borrow money from my parents for the following cycles which I will feel awful about. I just don't think one round gives you much of an opportunity at all.

Dee, I am keeping everything crossed for you.

We get one fresh and one frozen cycle for free. But if we don't freeze any then it will be one round x

I am so sorry Lou!! :( I still hope it might have worked and I hear some positive new from you soon.. It all sounded so positive as well.

xx

Good luck Dee, I hope your little embryos are maturing well :)

Mariaisabella - hopefully it was just a shift in hormones and won't affect you starting your Ivf. I didn't realise we must be due to start our treatment at a similar time. Mine is due to start around 31st August.

Good luck with the scan next week Poispinner! I hope it's the start of your bfp xx

Xxxx

Yes, I will start around the 1st now ( if in fact I ovulated Thursday!! ) so seems to be around the same time :). If I didn't can they give me something to make me ovulate so I can get started?

CDAbaby, are you taking the pills first for a couple of weeks before injections? I called NHS nurse and she said about 3-4 weeks taking the pills once I get my period.

Got my period today... So surely it's an early mc ? Do you think it's likely a chromosomal abnormality so it implanted but then failed afterwards because I had all the symptoms and positive tests? Or could it have been progesterone was not high enough? But then I think surely I would spot first and then negative tests? If the tests got fainter then maybe that was hcg falling and then 2 days later af came as progesterone dropped due to no HCG?

So confused and want answers, everything felt right I felt pregnNt! Even more than I did 2 years ago when I had my early mc so I thought that was a good sign... Now I feel unsure of our last frozen embryo... If it's due to poor egg quality or chromosomal abnormality we could go through the same thing? And do I try another natural FET or medicated? The nTiral almost worked and was less stressful but if it's a lining or progesterone issue then we need to try a medicated one surely? I am so confused and upset, I don't know how I am going to get through work today!! I know I will pick myself up I just hate this! The fall has been so much greater because my hopes were so high and I just felt that this was it, our baby was finally here! How wrong could I be! Sorry for the depressing post...
Lou x

I am so sorry! How horrible and unfair!!! Please don't apologize for your post, this is the place to write about all your feelings and you can write anything.

I understand you must be devastated now so not really sure what to say except I am thinking about you and hope you feel better soon. Life is not fair.

I think it sounds like an early mc since you had all the symptoms and late AF. Not sure about chromosomal abnormality but perhaps it was nothing seriously wrong with your embryo but unfortunately these things happen even though no underlying issue.. I hope you can get more answers from your doctor.

Take care xxx :hugs:

I am so sorry Lou!! Life is so cruel. Sending you cyber hugs!! I really hope you can get answers :( xxxxxx

Mariaisabella - I'm not taking the pill, straight into gonal f. We have male factor infertility so I think they are relying on my body being okay. Just waiting for af to start and then we can start! Xx

So sorry to hear this Louba, been away from Wifi. Does sound like a chemical to me, the embryo started to implant then arrested. Don't go into work, or go in and tell your manager and ask to go home. This is worse than flu or sickness, you need time off. When will you speak to the clinic? They may recommend that you don't use the last embryo and try again with a fresh cycle. Maybe the embryo wasn't the best quality and that's why it didn't make it. It's so unfair. :hugs:

So sorry Lou, I agree, call in sick and just take some time xx

Agree with everyone else, take at least a day or 2 off Lou. Perhaps tell your manager what has happened, I am sure he/she will understand and be supportive! I haven't told my manager I am going though IVF but think I will when everything starts since I prefer him knowing if I need days off etc.. My work involves travelling which doesn't help :(

Question, I have no idea if I have ovulated yet but think so according to the ovulation sticks. Can I have a scan to check? Will the scan show if I ovulated?

Thanks xxx

Im so sorry Lou, a few days to yourself might be a good thing xx

As for me after the longest morning ever I just had the call and we have one early blast still hanging in there, so transfer is at 3.20. Oh the relief, this little fighter must be our new baby. It was only a 4 cell at day 3 (although the best quality) so it wouldn't have been in the running for a day 3 transfer. All the others have arrested or are badly formed, apart from one which she said has signs of improving so they'll recheck at the time of transfer to see if it can be transferred as well.

Yes a scan can show if you've ovulated as it will show a collapsed follicle xx

Thanks, will call nurse and ask today. The scan will be 5-6dpo ( if I ovulated when I think I did ) so I assume it would show?

Great news! Sounds like a strong little fighter and hope the other one improves as well! Good luck today!! xx
