Ladies doing IVF or IUI - 2015 (9 BFPs!)

A massive comfort! He is like our son!!! Spoilt rotten in everyway :) x thanks Hun yes will ask them , this embryo was a grade 4AB so quite good quality?? But good quality foes not always mean they are chromosomally normal does it?

Congratulations Dee on being Pupo. I hope your little embie is getting all nice and snug xx Lou you can get some of the level one immunes at the docs. I just took the list and asked them which ones they can do. That's only a little part of it tho and you will have to pay for the rest but May be worth a shot tho if it's something your thinking about. You can have chromosomaly abnormal embryos and them be good quality. Speak to your consultant and see what he suggests. I Hope you have a lovely holiday Hun and manage to relax xxx

I also had my gp do level 1 immunes before my 2nd IVF and all were clear. I do however have an autoimmune disease so my consultant agreed to add steroids to this round without the expensive immune tests. It's worth discussing with your consultant, some will treat empirically. In the meantime have a lovely break, eat and drink what you want and attempt to switch off for a bit xx

Mariaisabella my 1st cycle was also the long protocol and yes it seemed drawn out! Good luck Hun not long til u start! We are going to France and taking the dog :) can't wait to get away!!

That's great poispinner, not long now for you until the nitty gritty good luck!

I always find I have weird cycles when I am waiting for treatment etc.. Honestly it's like my mind just likes to make my body tease me...

Quick question, after 2 failed embryo transfers at what point to ask them to check for NK cells ? Please could people tell me if you think they would allow us to start a fresh cycle after 2 failed attempts from this one or will they tell us we need to try our last embryo? Would anyone else feel like they have lost faith in their embryos?

If my issue was low progesterone how would or could I tell this?

Thank you just looking for answers as always in this battle of creating life!! Xx

Thanks Lou, did you do both yours with NHS? I am. If it doesn't work the first time they will do a frozen transfer without drugs I think so similar to your last one ( sorry I don't know all the correct names... )?

Love dogs!! I hope you have an amazing holiday. :)

Question, I told my private doctor today I will try NHS first since its free and go to him after in case I need to. He was fine about it but when I asked him about my chances of success with him a year or so from now he said its 20% lower than when I last asked him 9 months ago.. Do you think he is saying this to scare me so I go with him? Can it go down that dramatically in 1,5-2 years?

Thanks xx

That's a good grade Louba. We are having embryo screening this time, when the cycle finally starts again! It costs double normal ivf and was only offered after 3 failed cycles. At least if none are normal we don't have a wasted 2ww and can move on.

I've been given a couple more months to try naturally, and then will be put forward for IUI (or IVF, whatever we choose) at the end of the year. The odds sound terrible, and I left the clinic crying.
We do get one round of IVF here, and I'm incredibly scared of treatment not working well.

Oh Kitty it can be a shock, our odds are less than 2% naturally. :(

My baseline scan is booked in for Monday and the receptionist couldn't tell me if I need a full bladder or not, does anyone know? Xc

Why are your odds so low CDA?
It is a shock Kitty when everyone else seems to conceive so easily.

It definitely is. We were also told our chances naturally were very low since boyfriend had 0% morphology ( better chances IVF ). Now we got his latest SA back and it has improved and actually considered normal which is good if trying naturally ( in case IVF doesn't work ).

Hate to hear those odds.

I just wish I knew what the problem was ! Obviously the PCOS, but it is "mild" and I do ovulate. Is there really any point in going down the IUI route if OHs sperm are alright?

I think iui is worth it. We did 3 rounds last year and the first did work although ended in miscarriage. We have lots of issues (pcos, endo, male factor and a blocked tube!) and it worked for us. We used clomid and a trigger so knew the egg and sperm were where they should be etc. Its a lot less invasive and cheaper if you're self funding xx

I try not to take too much notice of odds. For my age ivf is is 25% then 35% after transfer but that could be because ladies my age usually get less eggs collected. We had 17 then 19 then 13 and got 9 then 15 then 13 embryos after fertilisation so that's more chances than expected. New consultant said he can't see any reason we still haven't conceived, suggested just bad luck, great! But its probably egg quality. :( There must be one good one still left!

I agree about iui, its also good preparation for ivf in case you need that later. I would only do 2 or 3 goes though.

He suggested 4 tries with IUI with its 25% chance (he gave me a 90% chance of conceiving on clomid alone). On a side note, the NHS have stopped funding IUI now (not sure if that's just down here?), so anyone referred after April won't be offered it, so Im glad we got in at the start of the year. Im now really wondering about the possibility of being treated in my husbands original neck of the woods, where there are three IVF cycles available. I don't know how possible that would be?

Ours is low because DH Count is under 1 million per Mil and they aren't great swimmers. ICSI ivf gives us over 30% so really excited for Sept :)
Where is you Oh from Kitty? 3 cycles is amazing!!

He's from Wiltshire, about 3 hours away from us. So unfair that it's not the same rules throughout the UK. They get even more tries in Essex I think!?
I don't know what is Really involved in IVF, so I don't know if travelling that far would even be possible to do it?

Oh honeyyy. I had the IUI because I thought I might as well. I was on Clomid too but still obviously didn't conceive. Did they just give you the natural chances or assisted too? I haven't been given any kind of odds. Xxx

I've no idea! He just told me 25% each time - which is about the same as natural conception, right? And as I have nothing wrong with me (!), it's no more beneficial than keeping at it ourselves surely.

There are a lot of appointments with IVF so would be very difficult to go back and forth 3 hours. Sometimes you can be going in every other day or just need to go there for a blood test, its a long way to go for a blood test. Try not to think of the percentages too much, they don't mean anything really, they're just a guess based on previous statistics, nothing concrete. IUI might be worth a try, I asked my consultant if its just the same as trying naturally but he said you are guaranteed an egg with IUI and the sperm are washed or spun (can't remember) so only the strong fighting fit ones get put back in and takes away timing issues xx

Yeah, that's natural odds! I think IUI only boosts it if you have sperm issues. I guess it is up to if you want to use it anyway as it may work and isn't intrusive or just go straight to IVF. If you are taking inositol then maybe you could go for IUI with your better eggs? I have just bought some inositol myself so we will see. X
