Ladies doing IVF or IUI - 2015 (9 BFPs!)

One minute I was in the room where they do the ec having just been given the sedatives, the next thing I remember was being in the bed in the lift going back up to my room, so not out for long. My hubby wasn't allowed either in to ec room either but honestly it doesn't take long I doubt you would really miss him being there.
I went downstairs in the lift to where they do the ec, had the anaesthetist person put the cannula in my hand, then got taken across corridor to ec room, had to confirm my details with the embryologists through a wee hatch into lab, then got seated into chair, had the sedatives and then that was it.

Ah right, they haven't said about bringing me round in recovery, they've said I'll be taken to my own room where I can sleep it off and they'll let me wake up and make sure I eat and drink etc before I go home.

I'm grateful to hear everyone's experiences, it helps me know a bit of what to expect. X

Oh lord there's a cannula? I'm a huge wuss when it comes to cannulas! I've had many, many cannulas over the years (was a poorly child in and out of hospital right up to my teens) but I loathe them. I was told it would be a needle in the back of my hand.
I will be a quivering wreck if it is indeed a cannula. :brat:

You get your own room! Yes its so quick, one minute you are falling asleep, the next you are waking up in recovery! Our recovery room has an area for the bed of the last patient and the other patients are in comfy chairs shielded with curtains! I had to eat, drink and go to the loo and then sleep at home if necessary! The needle will probably be in your hand but it will just stay there and be taped down, so a cannula yes, sorry! I hate them too but you will only feel it going in and being taken out, you are asleep for most of the time its in. Try not to look at it! I asked if mine could be covered up the first time, they obliged and put the sheet over my arm!

I do apparently, I've not seen the room or the ward so I'm not sure what it's like.
Ughhhh I hate cannulas!

I'm a major wimp when it comes to cannulas! Boohoo! But at least it's only there for a few minutes...

Ahh good luck miss J! Egg collection is fine as the ladies have told you! They woke me up afterwards and I got in a wheel chair to my room, I kept falling asleep but they kept me awake.
Your IVF journey so far is like mine, I had a lot of follicles myself and they said they may cancel the treatment depending on how many eggs they got, if they got too many they would cancel they said. They only got 9 so said it was fine to go ahead but I was unlucky and got ohss and had gained 6lbs by the next morning and a further 6lbs the next day of fluid. My transfer was cancelled. We had to wait 3 months for FET but we done it drug free and it worked. At the time the thought of cancelling was horrible, I was devastated but it was worth it.

I hope you don't get ohss and all can go ahead as planned, your body seems to be doing great so far! Everything crossed over here for you.

Egg collection can only be described as one of the best sleeps u will have haha! And it truly isn't bad at all! :) will be checking back to see how u get on!

To all you other ladies I follow this thread closely and pray every time I come in that someone else gets their bfp. Rooting for you all xx

Good luck missj... Iv missed all of this cycle I haven't been on much. Sending you lots of luck and love for the EC and afterwards to x hope tour not to drowsy or sore x

Gosh Charlie, hope you're okay now. I don't feel as uncomfortable as I did a couple of days ago which is worrying slightly as I've done my trigger, I have images in my head of all these eggs being released, lol! I'm sure if I had ovulated and released loads of eggs, I would be able to feel it! It's more the cannula I'm dreading now, I really am a needle phobe despite how many injections etc I've had or done, my stomach is churning at the realisation that I'll be having a cannula!

Aw minx, hope you're okay hun. Thank you, I will try and update as soon as I can. X

Lots of luck huny. I'm praying for the most positive outcome! X x

Hi ladies, posting from my hospital bed! Everything went on time and went well, I didn't look at the cannula but two of the lovely nurses were there to hold my hand but the guy doing the cannula did a good job (I think I told him - oops!) and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting or have had in the past. Once he sedated me I was out quite quickly. I remember being pulled down the bed and I felt some sharp pains every now and then and I recall having a little cry but the next thing I knew, I was in recovery. So exactly as you ladies said it would be. :yay:
I was wheeled to my room where DH was waiting for me and I slept for a bit longer. My blood pressure is low so I've been kept here a bit longer and given countless cups of tea and biscuits and even a ham omelette which I struggled to eat as I feel a bit bloated and sore. I have a sore throat that seems to have just appeared but hopefully it won't last long. I've been to the loo so just need to wait for them to remove the cannula so I can get dressed to go home.

Now the interesting bit - lol.

I don't know how many follicles they drained but we got 10 eggs! We will get a call tomorrow with how many fertilised. They were previously talking about doing a frozen transfer next cycle but when my consultant came round to see me after the procedure, he said transfer will be on Wednesday. So I'm really pleased about that and I'm excited to have our little embies on board!

After everything that's happened so far, I finally feel positive about this cycle and I'm excited about transfer. Can't wait for the phone call tomorrow. :)

Prayers for our little embies please!

Eeeek! X

Oh that's great! Pleased the cannula was ok! Your sore throat will be from the anaesthetic, I had that after my lap and dye.

Did you feel it then? I cried with relief when I woke up but didn't feel anything during. 10 eggs is great! They probably drained all the follicles but most of the eggs were still too small.

Good news about transfer, you're not going for blastos then? Great that you will have some on board this week! Will you go for 1 or 2 do you think?

Glad it all went well, I sometimes get a sore throat after ops/procedures too. It shouldn't last long.
10 eggs is great, looking forward to your update tomorrow :) xx

Great number hon and glad you're having transfer this cycle. Your embies will be on board before you know it! X

Wowzers missj that's brilliant. I hope tour feeling a little less sore by the time you read this. You, your Oh and your little embies will be in my thoughts tonight and tomorrow hun x

Thanks so much ladies!

I am finally home and feeling pretty sore, much more than I thought I would be. But DH is looking after me and I am surrounded by pillows and I have a hot water bottle. Bless him, he even bought me a little kinder egg on the way home!
My consultant never even suggested doing transfer on Friday, he said they'd call tomorrow with a time to come in on Wednesday for transfer... I thought it was bloody quick, especially as at my last appointment the nurse was saying how they'd freeze the embryos for transfer in a month or so.... But if we can go ahead with a fresh transfer, that would be amazing. :-)

X

Thanks ladies, still quite sore and tender today, DH is working so I've been dropped off to my mums lol.

Nervous to hear back about our eggs, hopefully we got a good fertilisation rate! X
