Ladies doing IUI or IVF - 2016 (11 BFPs so far!)

Hey Syd, anxious mostly about the injections and having to give more than 1 on a daily basis.

I stopped my supplements last month. Just taking folic acid now, and vit D & colecalciferol as my levels are low. The clinic don't seem to have a prob with me only taking those. It does become an expensive habit

I eat my words. The injections were not as bad as I thought

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is doing ok?

I had my first consultation with the egg donor coordinator at the clinic on Friday. She was really lovely and seemed confident they would find a good match.

I felt really positive after the appointment. It seems a lot of people go in with slightly unrealistic expectations of matching. I think it's very personal to each woman but for myself I am willing to give on the smaller details, such as the donor having light brown hair rather than blonde, as long as she has a fair complexion and green or blue eyes...that kind of thing.

It starts off at £5600 on the price list at my clinic but very quickly goes up to £10k by the time you have added in the donor's sedation, collection, HFEA fees and meds etc and that only guarantees you 6 eggs although you may well get the option to buy more if the collection is good. Of course, this does not mean all (or any ) of these eggs will fertilise but the donors are young and healthy so there should be more than one.

I am going to go for them freezing the embryos and then having an FET rather than trying to use meds to sync my cycle to the donor. I think messing with my body when I don't need to seems unnecessary and there's precious little that is going to be natural about this process.

All in all, I was really pleased with how it all went and the donor nurse obviously can't guarantee when she'll find a donor but she estimates it will be within the next 3months....the waiting begins!!

That sounds great 20percent, do you mind me asking which clinic you're with?

Great news 20percent, hopefully you'll find a great match sooner rather than later

That's sounding so good 20%. 3 months is so soon too! I think you're doing the right thing with a FET, I always thought trying to timing things just adds extra pressure and stress. I'm so excited for you. Keep us updated!

How you getting on mrslaw? Hope everything is still going well for you!

Hope everyone else is okay xxx

I'm good thanks, EC will likely be this weekend so I'm looking forward to that. So far they've kept me on the lowest doses of all the meds. My ovaries are starting to feel sore though... couldn't even dtd the other night it was so uncomfortable. I feel so bloated

Mrslaw, glad to hear you're okay, the injections really aren't that bad at all. Hope all is looking good for egg collection

Anyone want to share their experience with a fet?
Am I right in thinking sometimes it won't thaw out okay?
do you have to have much prep before transfer? like how many scans are needed, any drugs before?

I felt quite bloated and uncomfortable towards the end. Do you have another scan soon? Fingers crossed all is on track for EC at the weekend!!

I don't have any experience of fet Millie but I know some of the other girls will be able to help you xx

They've brought my EC forward to tomorrow :oooo:

Not sure about FET either Millie, just know what I've read on the net. When are you hoping to do another round? Sorry if you've mentioned it recently

Good luck for tomorrow then :D x

I'm not sure I want to do another round :(
I barely want to go ahead with fet :(

Lots of luck for tomorrow mrslaw. Let us know how you get on!

Millie, sorry to read that hun. Maybe you need to give yourself a little more healing time? Xx

Good luck tomorrow mrs law

20% - sounds very positive xx

I've just started having acupuncture yesterday - will be doing it once a week. Hope it's as good as everybody says!

Best wishes to all in this thread xx

I'm not sure, I feel that this it for us after fet (if it happens) and I'm just gonna have to be ok with that.
I could keep doing rounds of ivf forever and ever and not get anywhere apart from more messed up mentally.

I'm hoping I can bring hubby round to the idea of adopting but I understand if not.

I really hope you find the accupuncture helpful Tinsel. I didn't start it as I felt too late to get any benefit but so many people take about it. Do you have a plan for what's happening next?

Millie, I think everyone totally understands that. Ltttc and fertility treatment is much more mentally draining than physical! Try and take it one step at a time, focus on the FET and cross any bridge following that you need to. I really hope you don't need to think about anything else and it works for you! Xx

Sorry to jump in ladies.

Millie I just had a FET in February. Much nicer than a stimm cycle! Assuming it's a medicated fet you'll be given oestrogen tablets to build your lining from around day 2 of your cycle. I then had a scan to check my lining on day 10 (which was fine) progesterone will usually then be added and I had transfer of two of our day 5 frozen blasts on cd18.

on average it takes 3-6 cycles to work depending on your age, history etc and there are lots of investigations worth having like clotting screens, thyroid tests, hidden infection trsts and immune bloods which might shed some light and endure you're on the right medication.

Good luck!

xxxx

Thanks :)
Was it just the one scan on day 18 then?

One scan on day 10 to check lining thickness then another scan on day 18 just before transfer. Some clinics will scan on day 2 or 3 of your cycle but mine don't.

xxxx

Ah okay, I reckon mine would, I can ask them at our review tomorrow I guess. :)
