Hi ladies,
Hope everyone is doing ok?
I had my first consultation with the egg donor coordinator at the clinic on Friday. She was really lovely and seemed confident they would find a good match.
I felt really positive after the appointment. It seems a lot of people go in with slightly unrealistic expectations of matching. I think it's very personal to each woman but for myself I am willing to give on the smaller details, such as the donor having light brown hair rather than blonde, as long as she has a fair complexion and green or blue eyes...that kind of thing.
It starts off at £5600 on the price list at my clinic but very quickly goes up to £10k by the time you have added in the donor's sedation, collection, HFEA fees and meds etc and that only guarantees you 6 eggs although you may well get the option to buy more if the collection is good. Of course, this does not mean all (or any

) of these eggs will fertilise but the donors are young and healthy so there should be more than one.
I am going to go for them freezing the embryos and then having an FET rather than trying to use meds to sync my cycle to the donor. I think messing with my body when I don't need to seems unnecessary and there's precious little that is going to be natural about this process.
All in all, I was really pleased with how it all went and the donor nurse obviously can't guarantee when she'll find a donor but she estimates it will be within the next 3months....the waiting begins!!
