July 2017 mummies to be.

Sorry to hear that Violet but it seems all too common nowadays. You've got good support here when you need a rant though so don't forget us just yet! ;)

Sorry to hear that Violet, don't feel you need to stay away from the forum though, like Michelle said if anything it's a good place to have a rant!

xx

I just watched one born every minute, I've never seen it before! I was debating whether it was a good idea or not but I actually enjoyed it.. It makes me very excited to meet my LO but also very very nervous about the whole labour process! xx

Oh I was watching it last night! I've started recording it now I'm pregnant. I really like watching it. Although they were all such happy births all the way through and then the last episode of the series last time was horrendous with two lots of bad news - I was in tears!! Stupid way to end I thought. I'm not at all nervous yet. Wonder when that'll kick in!!

I was very upset yesterday :( I'm about to let my new consultant have it as well! Apparently baby will be too big to birth on my own which is bullshit! They said my first would be 7lbs or under on a growth scan he was 8lb 7oz so they can kiss my backside he's said he won't allow me to birth naturally so I've said fine I'm dropping you from my care I'm not at risk of having a huge baby your body doesn't do that it's rare as hell. He's just being a utter twonk and I'm not having it xxx

Violet, I am a couple of weeks ahead of you and I have also recently been diagnosed with GD. I had it with my daughter too but managed to control it through diet. She was born naturally weighing 6lb 3.

This time round my bump is measuring ahead and a recent growth scan has baby at the very top of the scale. My consultant has told me they are happy to let me manage it with diet again as my blood levels are fine, but have told me to be prepared for a early csection as in cases like mine the baby's shoulders can get stuck coming out.

It is a shock at first but hopefully in time you'll be able to feel more relaxed about it.

Thank you Hun just not what I was expecting or really wanted but if that's what has to happen then it's for the safety of my baby how do you control it through diet? I've got the diabetes clinic on Tuesday xxx

It's all through what you eat. Less carbs and more veg and protein. My diabetes midwife was/is fantastic. She said to eat no more than a fistful of carbs a day - whether that is bread, pasta, chocolate etc, avoid most fruit and juices as they are extremely high in sugar - all berry fruit is better, strawberry, blueberry etc. Cheese helps to level your sugars so I try to have it with most meals and go for a half an hour walk after your main meal, don't sit around as this helps the sugar to pass through.

Once you are tracking your blood levels and know which food works best it becomes routine.

I'm the same, I had a lovely, quick first delivery so having to get my head round a csection is hard but like you say if it's the safest way for me and my baby then so be it.

Have you had a growth scan yet?

Okay gutted I love my carbs! :( no not yet I got told and said well here's your appointment for Tuesday and that was it literally. I like strawberries and raspberries so I'm good there. Can I have squash still as long as it's weak? Sorry to bombard you Hun it's so new xxx

I have the no added sugar squash and the sugar free flavoured water as they work well with me so try your squash and see how your bloods come back, if they're fine then carry on having them. Different foods work for different people. I can eat a whole Domino's pizza on a thin crust and my levels are fine!!

Once you've been to clinic you'll know a lot more a feel a lot happier but any questions I'm happy to answer (if I can)

Thank you all muchly, just a bit worried is all. I hope everything is okay I'm going to have to prick my finger every damn day aren't I? Needle phobia....yay. Xxx

Fml you're kidding?! Different fingers each time? Xxx

^^ this is EXACTLY the point of the forum. Don't go anywhere, Violet!

I thought I was okay with a repeat c section I'm not...I have a major hospital phobia and I'm scared of needles and I was exhausted with my first and the epidural and everything but I'm not coping with this I'm genuinely scared of having this baby. :( I don't think I can do this. Xxx

You can do this Violet. You can take your consultants advise but it is YOUR choice they can't force you to have a c-section for no other reason than the baby may be big.
You won't know that until closer to the time so ask if you can wait untill maybe 36 weeks to decide.
