***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Well scan down with consultant at South hospital today, and I am being kept in and induced now Wednesday at the latest, hopefully they will let baby stay in till Wednesday as I will be 37 weeks then. So a wee bit of a shock.
Hope everybody else is well. Xxx

Oh wow Kiwi,

How are you feeling hun?

I can only imagine how much of a shock this is? I know they were planning to let you go to 40w, is there any reason they have moved it all forward?

They will take the very best care of you and bub's but blimey, can't believe it's so soon!!

Get some well deserved rest if you can.

Feeling quite shocked just now, but excited too.
My blood pressure has been up and babys movement has reduced a lot. Also fluid levels are down by a good bit, so they feel it's safer for delivery sooner for me and baby.
And in a way am glad baby will be out and I can see and know what is going on :)
Really quite nervous about the induction and labour, but will just have to take it as it comes I guess. Xxx

Wow Kiwi that was a bit of a shock xxx Definitely safer for you and baby xx

2nd January baby soon xxx

I think the important thing is that the have kept such a close eye on you all along and you seem to trust their judgement and choices for you - which makes it so much easier?

Are they just keeping an eye on you over the next few days? BP checks?

I am sure if they can they'll let you get to 37w, but hey you are so close now anyway

I would just say relax leading it up to it all - eat and sleep as much as you can and when the time comes just go with what you feel? Inductions don't have to be horrible. I had what is known as an augmented labour [stalled at 6cm so needed to have the drip and my waters broken] and it really wasn't that bad.

Eeeek, I am so excited for you. I know you have a lot of uncertainty but you are going to finally meet your wee bambino.:yay::pompom:

Keeps us posted as much as you can and best of luck - you'll be fab!

Yeh they are keeping a check, aiming for Wednesday induction, but am here incase they need to intervene before. And I am glad I am in the right place, at least we know we are being looked after :)
I will keep you Al posted on progress but hoping everything goes smoothly from here.

Wow kiwi! It looks like you'll be our next 'January' mum! Hope it all goes well. Sounds like they are taking good care of you. Do you mind me asking what your BP is? I've been struggling with mine being high and not sure at what point they get more concerned about it.

My BP was high today Bunny

156/79 then 148/85 and then 145/82

Not of any concern to them though as my BP is always on the higher side of normal

I think they keep a check on it based on prior readings as well?

My BP has always been in region of 130/80 and it's the bottom number they keep an eye on.

They've told me that if mine gets to 90 - and doesn't come down on subsequent readings - then I have to go and be monitored.

At home this morning my BP was 120/70, three times in a row. I have classic white coat hypertension and it drives me nuts.

MW I saw today was a "high risk Midwife" who just happened to be doing a day in my low risk clinic and he was very complimentary about how healthy I look and seem and how he thought BP was fine and could see if came down with each reading. However another MW may well have told me to go to my GP for a reading between now and next appointment so its a lot down to interpretation as well?

Hope all goes well on weds kiwi.

Ladies I have had a pain on top of my bump left side since this morning. Hurts when sitting standing certain positions etc. what do u think it could be !? I mean it's just on one small place on the left ? Do I think it's more likely to be a strained muscle ? Baby hasn't been int ribs for ages ?? Does that make sense ?? Lol don't want to worry for nothing or not worry when I should be ??? Xxx

Wow kiwi, keeping everything crossed for you.

My girl has been very quiet today, to the point where I'm phoning antenatal if she doesn't move after dinner.

I'm literally freaking out as this is what happened with my son at 42 weeks, although I don't know of it's just the stupid anterior placenta :-(

I have always had a low blood pressure, never over 110/65 but this last few days it's been up as high as 130/94 so quite a jump. I have been given steroid injections to prepair babys lungs incase! And just being constantly monitored. So in the best place. X

Hope you & baby stay well Kiwi, good luck for next week! xx

Sorry kitty, I'm not sure what that might mean. So many different aches & pains seem to be part & parcel of this experience!

p.s. Carnat your tree looks great.

Hi ladies hope u are all keeping well, me and David are stilling hospital but hoping to go home tomorrow as he is feeding on his now no more tube feeds just breast, he lost quiet a bit of weight so hoping he has put some back on or we won't be going home so fingers crossed

Ah fingers crossed you and baby David get to go home, what good news that he is feeding on his own xx hope your feeling okay xx

Kitty if its still hurting tomorrow maybe ring mw?

Jolly did your naughty girl wake up? I hate quiet days.

Kiwi yep that is a bit of a jump with your BP. That's what they look for.... big differences. As I'm always high end of normal it wouldn't be so bad if I had those readings - theyd still monitor me though - but I can see why they are keeping a very close eye on it with you.

Sattie fingers crossed you and your gorgeous boy are home tomorrow.

Eeek, Kiwi. How exciting that you get to meet baby so soon. Good luck for everything hun :)

Any movement yet Jolly? I had quite a few movement-less days with my son and it used to stress me out everytime. I had anterior with him so it was normal, but it's still stressful. This time, little lady goes bonkers a few times per day and doesn't seem to stop. She's definitely a livewire.

Hope you and David get to go home tomorrow Sattie. Fingers crossed for you xx

Got my 34 week appt tomorrow morning with the midwife. Feels like such an age since I last saw her at 28 weeks. At least the appointments are every couple of weeks from now on in. I seemed to have so many more first time around. Be interesting to see how much my fundal height has changed as it was a week behind at 29 weeks, but I feel huge now so expect it will have caught up or even measure slightly bigger.

Ah sattie I'll keep everything crossed that you get to go home soon.

Yes I've felt movements but she really isn't as wriggly today. I'll be keeping an eye on it as it is pretty stressful when you can't get them to move!!!

There's another post from someone in 3rd tri saying they had reduced movement but it's ok because they heard the baby's heartbeat with a Doppler- ladies please don't anyone here do that- a Doppler will tell you if there's a heartbeat but not if there's a problem. If I'd have listened to Freddie's heartbeat with a Doppler when he was overdue he wouldn't be here today. He was so poorly and it took being on a trace for half an hour to determine that.

So, just in case, if anyone feels no movement it's definitely best to get checked out. I'm still considering calling them depending on how tonight's movements go xxxxx

At my last MW appointment my bp was 145/100 which isn't very good. She was a bit worried about but then she took it on the other arm and it was a bit lower so she said she would use that reading. She also believes me when I tell her the readings I get at home are a lot lower. I think you are right though CARNAT. I have the tendancy for high bp anyway so its not such a big jump for me. Although half the pregnancy I had low BP for me. It got down to 100/58 at one point! That made me feel really dizzy though. My BP seems to have the tendency to go up and down really easily. If I rest a lot it seems to help to control it so I'm kind of half on bed rest to try and keep it down. That way I'm managing to keep it around 135/83 most of the time but as soon as I do too much or get stressed it shoots up higher.

How are things today hun?

Completely agree that a Doppler offers a false sense of security and at this stage merely hearing the HB isn't enough to determine all is OK?

Must be catching as we're having a quiet few days. Hate them and feel so distracted as she is normally such a wriggler. I know they have growth spurts though and I also remember that James used to have really quiet days following really active days?

That is quite high Bunny, but if the MW is satisfied then I'd try not to worry too much.

My cut off point is 90 for my diastolic reading, they aren't too worried about the systolic though. If I hit 90 and it doesn't reduce then it's off for monitoring! Ironic that I hate having my BP taken, it shoots up in a medical setting and the result is going to have it taken several times in an hour??? Hoping to avoid it this time, had it with James at 38w. Although with old fashioned BP monitor {where they actually use a stethoscope} my BP was fine!

As I say try not to worry, if you get OK readings and aren't feeling any other symptoms then I am sure all is just perfect. I am sure your MW has told you to look out for headaches, swelling etc.

Glad you got some more movement Jolly. I used to stress so much on the quieter days with my son. It's horrible isn't it.

Saw my midwife today for 34 week check up. Little lady is head down, back facing my tummy and 1/5 engaged...the optimum and preferred position for labour. Just hope she stays like it lol. My fundal height caught up too. Student midwife in with my midwife said it was 34cm but it's been written down as 35cm. Not that it matters really.

Feels weird to think baby is starting to engage already. It's the final stretch and I'm not sure i'm ready yet haha
