***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Hi Kiwi - glad to hear you're doing well & that baby is feeding better.

Mrs W - scary how close it's getting isn't it! Baby can still turn while in labour but I've read that normal relaxed seating positions (e.g. at computer desk, slouching on couch) or reclining don't help with baby turning the right way round. However, 10 mins a day of being on all 4s apparently can help? As can sitting on a ball with hips above knee height so your weight is tipped forward a bit. I'm sure everyone's said all this already though - good luck with getting baby to turn xx

I now weigh more than my husband - the indignity :)

Had CTG at hospital again this morning, baby is now about halfway engaged and facing the right way - hooray! I have a scan on Wednesday (NYE) where they will decide the next steps in my care plan. Am hoping it doesn't go down the induction route, although a baby with birthday 1/1/15 would be pretty cool.

Yeah tinsel I scared myself thinking about it this morning. I haven't sat on sofa in 2 weeks. And if I have I say at edge of it. Rest of time on ball and on floor on my knees trying to get baby to turn and they're having none of it. Haha. Can't make baby do what it doesn't want to. Oh well. It has to come out somehow. Will just take safest options.
Glad ctg was ok and baby is getting in right position for you!

Mrs w I had a few sweeps with ds the first when my cervix was really high and posterior, she could hardly reach! I'd say it's a bit like having a smear test, sometimes uncomfortable and I could feel the discomfort for a while after.

I only made it to 12 days breastfeeding with J so determined to give it a better shot this time, but without adding loads of pressure onto myself. My milk didn't ever really come in properly but I beat myself up so much for failing. This time...if it comes in and works out, fab. If it doesn't then my son survived and thrived on bottles so hey ho. No pressure or feeling crap at all.

We don't have any NYE plans. Will just be me, hubby and J so we might get a takeaway and stick a film on. Boring I know, but I am so tired at the mo, I just can't face doing anything much.

Still can't believe we are finally all reaching full term and have some babies here already. Time has flown by so much quicker for me this second pregnancy.

Another quick question, I know I'm being a pain today but i'm 38 weeks on Wednesday and today midwife did struggle to feel baby's head but she put it down to baby being posterior. She wrote in notes though at head is at brim. Should I not be partially engaged now at least with my first baby? Google is too scary and confusing.

Whether it's your first or fourth some babies will engage and some won't right up until birth. Even if they do engage their positions can change and they can pop in and out. My midwife put it that the uterus doesn't have many other places to stretch to so last stretch it will do is downwards.
My ds was head down and engaged for ages, he still had to be evicted though at 40+11!

MW appointment done. BP was up (came down on 3rd reading otherwise I was going to be sent for monitoring).

Baby is head down but not engaged - although notes say she is 4/5th palpable so that's 1/5th engaged?

I'm to go in if I have any issues and back at 38 and 40 week due to BP. They couldn't actually book my next appt though as they all booked up so I'm waiting for someone to ring me.

MW I saw today was lovely, ive seen her before (its rare to see same mw at appts at such a big and busy hospital) and she was very reassuring about my stupid white coat hypertension.

Scan next Monday so we'll see how big my girl is. Measuring 36 and am 37 weeks tomorrow so pretty much bang on.

Mrs_W, my son was head down but only 1/5 engaged at my midwife appt, when I was 36+5. 2 days later my waters popped and I was already 4cm dilated on examination an hour later. He went from 1/5 engaged to fully engaged in 2 days with only a few minor cramps and a tiny bit of plug loss which is why it took me by so much surprise when my waters suddenly went. Doubt I'll be so lucky this time around as this one was 1/5 engaged at my 34 week appt and free again at 36 week appt, although she is still head down at least.

Glad your appt went well Nat. Will be exciting to hear how big she is :)

Whoop, whoop - fully cooked day for me today!

Although I have no plans to start the eviction process just yet, little lady can stay put for the time being

Yay for being full term Nat. When is your last day at work?

I'm really crampy today. Trying not to read anything into it, but I never got this far last time so not sure what is normal and what isn't at this stage.

Happy 37 weeks Nat.

What is this eviction process people keep mentioning?

Eviction process is mainly just old wives tales to bring labour on

Going for long walks
eating pineapple
eating hot curries
raspberry leaf tea
Clary sage in bath
Sex

More modern things are acupuncture?

Have a Google hun - "ways to induce labour when you are full term"

Last day at work is next Tuesday lol. so I am not wanting baby any time soon.

Anything and everything you have possibly read or been told about to get labour going tc!! How are the cramps today?

I'm feeling a bit odd (not unusual for me ;) ) but I can't put my finger on it. I think it's maybe that limbo between Christmas and new year, I just feel a bit lost. Thankfully oh is off after today until Monday so I can get some naps in and get some things organised. Just don't like this feeling at all!

Can I add to your list carnat, my mw first time told me that oral sex (you have to ahem ingest the products) is just as good as sex. Now I think she was taking the micky, never worked for me though oh said we didn't do enough!!

Thanks for the explanation, Carnat & megs! Don't think I'll mention it to OH, who will have any excuse for spicy food!
Pineapple sounds nice, but we literally just took delivery of our fortnightly Tesco order! :)
Megs - what a thing for your MW to suggest!! :)

The period-like pains are fairly imperceptible this morning (they've kind of been on-off over the last few days) but at least I feel better knowing more about them now - especially if that's what Carnat felt like going into labour!

Am also feeling in limbo ahead of tomorrow. My task for the day is to finish packing all my hospital bags as best I can! (it's hard as I don't own enough clothes to pack some away! :) )

Hope you all manage to catch some naps - I take it everyone is feeling utterly exhausted? x

Totally exhausted, not helped by a few extra wakey times with ds between his scarlatina and a wet bed!

Yep totally exhausted and fighting a cold now- someone's having a joke, "I know, Jules doesnt feel crap enough already, let's give her a cold as well!!!" Argh!!!!

Lots of toilet action for me (hahahahaha sorry!!!) just hoping it's things getting moving as my appetite doesn't really justify the amount of trips iykwim?

Aw, *hugs* Jolly, colds are rotten at the best of time but right now??? That's not fair!! Hope you feel better soon xxx

Nipple tweaking or stimulation is supposed to help with getting labour going too as long as it's done after 37 weeks. I had a quick squeeze in the shower this morning how my midwife showed me, to see if I had any colostrum yet and got a small amount out of my left nipple. It was that side which produced more milk last time so I'm not surprised.

I am actually feeling OK energy wise (this is despite being up at least 20 times in the night, I kid you not - this baby is laying on my bladder??)

Lucky as I am the only muppet still at work LOL!

Feel much better now than I did in the weeks after we moved?

Lots of R&R planned this weekend, in-fact TC you've reminded me I need to do a food shopping order. We use Morrison's [they have modelled themselves on Ocado and I can't fault them!!]

We're having lunch bought everyday this week as there are only a few of us in. Pizza yesterday, Chinese today. Nom!
