***** January 2015 Mummy's *****

Thanks lovely ladies, I do feel a lot better after spending a few hours putting decorations up with hubby whilst listening to cheesy Christmas music. I also treated myself to a glass of mulled wine, left it on the hob for ages to burn off most of the alcohol!

Jan I've never seen my cervix but most often it's high. I wonder if you are seeing other structures, the bartholins glands sit just inside and can look like you described. I can see a lot of my inside though as I have a rectocele prolapse from my first forceps delivery. Always best to mention it if in any doubt!

And does anyone else hear clicking from their bump? I thought it was maybe from my joint but it happens when I'm not moving!

Just catching up on all the latest goings on here and the first thing I read Carnat was you wanting to throw your MIL out the window! I am absolutely roaring laughing here!!!!!!!!!!!
My auntie came to stay with us last weekend as she was purchasing our pram for us! And ungrateful as I am going to sound here it was a bit of a nightmare having her stay! She slept in the bed with me whilst poor hubby spent 3 nights on the couch (yes she stayed for 3 nights)! Every single morning she moaned about me keeping her awake with my snores, my turns and my bathroom trips!
On the 3rd night of her visit she swore loudly under her breath at what must have been my 4th bathroom trip around 4am! I never returned to the bed, I spent the night on the opposite couch to the husband hahaha! xxx

Jolly, it was a sign of early labour for me, I just didn't realise it at the time as wasn't expecting it. I was basically really crampy the day before and then the following night my waters suddenly went. I had lost a tiny bit of my plug that morning though, but again knew that can be quite normal that late on so still never made the connection that it could have been the start of labour. Cramps have mostly stopped now thankfully :)

Big hugs Spallerina. Sounds like a horrible situation for you :( Mulled wine sounds lovely though.

I've never checked my cervix to be honest Jan, so no idea where it should be in relation to everything else at this stage but I have always assumed it should be high?

Nat, things sound hectic if that was your last free weekend until New Year?! No wonder you are stressed at the moment. I'm finding everything so much more exhausting now, and a lot more than I did when I was pregnant last time...guess working and chasing around after a toddler makes it a lot harder.

Thanks girls I feel calmer now I must be seeing something else! It does look very odd down there lol! X

I am too scared to look "down there" - I've not done any maintenance for some time and although I feel better now it felt so swollen last week.

MIL turned up again yesterday, she wanted me to order her something online - she didn't even ring beforehand?? I left her looking after James while I sat and had my dinner in peace. She didn't stay long

We've moved further away from the in-laws but they visit even more LOL! They are actually lovely people and I am lucky although I really want a few evenings just to ourselves.

Spallerina, I read your update about your Dad in utter disbelief. A man that treats his wife and child/ren like that doesn't deserve to be a Granddad in my book. Of course it's not as simple as that and I realise you must be so torn but I completely understand your frustration and sadness about the situation. Your Mum is lucky to have you

X

Carnat, any chance you could get your OH to ask if they could ring ahead if they're planning on coming? It is a bit rude turning up unannounced (especially to get you to do something on their behalf), even if they mean well...

Jan - sorry, no clue! I've never examined, er, that part :)

Saw midwife for 34 week appointment today, baby is back to transverse, bump measures 33 cm, haemoglobin/iron levels 3 weeks ago were down to 10.1 so I guess since then they dropped under 10. Midwife seemed to be coming down with a cold so I hope she hasn't passed it on!!

Growth scan today! Baby is 6.5 pounds at 33 weeks (poor me!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
But the medics do believe he is tall as Im 5ft 11 and hubby is 6ft2 lol!! But theyve decided I will be induced on my actual due date (I dont know what difference that makes as he could come early... but I suppose it stops me going over lol)
Baby has turned and is now head down (I have no idea the medical term haha im terrible!) and we watched his chest and tummy bloat in and out as he practiced his own breathing!! hahaa he gave a big yawn and stuck his tongue out at us aswell !!! xxx

Ah YG how lovely!!!! Don't worry about the size, like you say you guys are taller than average so it will probably be all length :-) x

Wow YG, your baby is going to win all the running races at school! :)

I keep seeing people posting that baby weighs X, is this something you find out at an ultrasound scan? Are these standard scans you get at your hospital, or have you been referred as they are worried about something?

xx

Eek my wee pumpkin was estimated at 4lb2oz yesterday at 32+2. Still heading towards an 8lb + baby!
Tc they take different measurements during an ultrasound like abdominal circumference, head, femur and give an estimated weight from that. My extra scans were because of how we lost Oirrinn. X

My hospital give everyone 3 scans TC. I've had a lot more already because of potential issues highlighted at 20 week scan... although we've been given the all clear now so I've just got my standard growth scan. Due to xmas and new year I'll be almost 38w for that

X

I only had a scan (and have another one at 36 weeks) because Freddie was only 6lb8oz at 42 weeks- they think he had stunted growth in the womb (he's totally normal and 75th centile for weight and height now) so wanted to check my girl doesn't get restricted too.

Other than carnat I don't know anyone else who gets a third scan routinely- I must admit it's nice seeing them in there when they've filled out- our lo has lovely chubby cheeks now :-) x

I wonder how tall hell grow up to be :)

Tinselcat I wasnt meant to get any further scans past my 20 weeks! However at 29 weeks I went into the hospital with my 3rd admittance with reduced movement felt ! I do have an anterior placenta but I think the doctors just wanted to check he was growing OK!
When they checked him 3 weeks ago he was already measuring big so they asked me to come back today for further scan! haha the consultant has said no more scans now as they just expect him to be a big baby! BUT they arent going to let me go past my due date so inudction booked for my actual due date!!xxx

Thanks ladies, it must be fascinating to know how big your little ones already are, and I think it's so interesting to hear what they all weigh already! :)

YG - can't imagine what your baby will weigh at 40 weeks, but it's super-cute that he's got your tall genes!! :) At least it may be helpful when planning to buy baby clothes, no point in the newborn size :D

If my baby is still transverse in 2 weeks then I'll get referred for a scan at 37 weeks, but that's a scan I'm hoping I don't need to have! :)

I am counting down the days till next scan to see how much baby has put on this time, getting rather nervous about delivery now haha. Went from 4.3 pounds to 6.4 in the last two weeks, so will see what Mondays two weeks will bring :) glad it's only an estimate but still nice to know :) x

I think it will be fascinating to see how much our babies actually weigh when born compared to the m estimates some of us have been given to see how accurate they are :-)

Carnat, I'd go mad if someone called unannounced - in my state they'd get a shock!

Girls it's so interesting seeing your baby's birth weight. I had my scan yesterday 33 weeks and baby weighs 4lbs 8oz was actually quite pleased but is this a good weight?? Also, do any of you know your BPD and HC measurements? Mine were both v small- the BPD was literally less than 2nd percentile and the HC was about 10th.. After googling (I know, not good) but I've seen breech babies (mine is) can usually have narrow temple to temple (BPD) measurement but if it's also a small HC measurement it can sometimes mean something is up with the brain??? They didn't mention anything to me - concentrated more on his heart condition and possible oesphegus problem but now I'm freaked out!!

Just interested to see what your measurements were..

Ps it wasn't my cervix (I had posted about possibly seeing this a few days ago) lol xx

I won't have any more scans Tinsel, only the 2 standard ones for me. DS was 6 lb 2 oz born at 37 weeks, so figure he would have been in the region of 8lbs had he gone to my due date.

This little lady feels similar in size going by bump etc, but I really don't know. Have 34 week midwife appt next week so be interesting to see the fundal height now as was 28cm at my 29 week appt.

Nat, I'd get OH to ask MIL to call before she comes round too. That would drive me bonkers!
