***Jan & Feb Mummy and Baby***

Oh jolly, how scary too! Hope your little one is on the mend soon :(
Alfie is starting to cruise now, so we're getting more bumps and scratches. The dog caught him in the face with his paw the other day so Alfie now looks like he's done ten rounds with my Tyson. X

Eeek hope Mollie and Bea are better soon. Poor babies and how scary for you both Jolly and Nat :/

My 2 both got ill on my second week back at work. It was bound to happen but you feel really bad about it don't you.

We've just had the 12 month vaccinations done so I've got a bit of a cranky girl at the mo. She's asleep now, but keeps stirring and crying out so I think it's going to be a long night.

Gosh poor Mollie. It's just the most awful thing in the world having them in hospital.

Touch wood Bee is on the mend now. Not needed her inhaler in a few days now.

I need to sort out the vaccinations actually. James I is due his as well. I'm not looking forward to that, I have to bribe him to do even the most simple things some days so god knows what I'll have to do on jab day lol.

Bee can still be cajoled on boob so as soon as she is properly better I'll book in to get it done. Need to time it around work really?

X

Thanks ladies

Mollie is absolutely fine, it was just the general anaesthetic that really scared me. She's has her dressing changed a few times and the fact it hurts her to crawl means she took her first 4 steps today!

Nat I'm really glad Bea is getting better. We did the 1yr jabs in 2 stages, the mmr was done separately yesterday. We didn't have to do it this way but the nurse suggested it because mollie is a "sensitive" baby! She was fine with both jabs and had the usual little cry but was fine in minutes.

I can't rememebr if I mentioned I was being made redundant? Well I'm fortunate enough to receive 9 months salary as a pay out (very large investment bank), so I've applied to do post grad diploma in children's nursing at uni :)))

I've wanted to work in neonatal since freddie was born and I'm finally going for it!! X

That's great news Jolly! Glad you get to make your move into something you've always wanted to do! Hooray! xx

And congrats on the walking! :)

p.s. does anyone else have a baby that is bothered by imperfections & mess, & likes putting things in the correct place? I'm hoping it means he will be tidy when he gets older... plus one of his fave toys to play with is a mini hoover!

No but my friends 2yo girl has been like this since she was tiny, hates mess and hates poo especially! She's now potty trained at the age of 2 and still tidies up after her little brother and tells my friend when her brother is doing somehing wrong!

DD is like that. She gets really bothered by things not being the way she thinks they should be. She does things like line up her blocks in order of color and doesnt like her food miixed on the same plate. They say that kind of thing is normal and just a phase that all kids go through but I think some do it more than others. Its been obvious since a newborn that DS is a totally different personality and he never takes more than a passing interest in things like that, she gets pretty obsessive, lol. She hates messy, sticky or dirty things and has done her poos on the potty since 1 just over a year old because having a dirty nappy upset her. Its taken a long time to be able to touch furry or hairy things because she was creeped out by the texture. I praise her for using the potty and putting toys away but I try not to make a big deal out of the other stuff and and encourage doing messy things and playing with textures etc so that it doesnt get to be a problem for her.

Hey ladies,

Hope everyone is well?

We've finally received an official disgnosis that Bee has CMPA. We spent a very long morning in the allergy clinic and had her skin prick test which confirmed what I knew.

As she has such an immediate reaction the plan is to keep her off of pure milk products and repeat the test next year. She is ok with baked milk (so milk as an ingredient which has been cooked)

Had her weighed and measured at the allergy clinic. She is 17lb 6oz (9th centile) and only just over 70cm (2nd centile) so she is a little dinkster!! She gets a huge reaction when people see her toddling about as she is so weeny. They also confirmed she has eczema which the GP's hadn't done.... kept telling me it was dry skin!!

In other news everything else is good. Being back at work has been really positive for me and I am so glad I negotiated going back part time.

Weight loss has gone backwards for me as I've been crap since like November so I'm back to needing to shift 2st. It's day 1 today <sigh>

Bee herself is a right little character. She is so inquisitive and alert. She doesn't miss a trick!! We are still co-sleeping and she is feeding loads at night (quite common when you go back to work apparently). The days I work she has soya milk, water and food which she is fine with.

We're having another niece in August (OH'S Bro and his partner - an IVF baby!!) so I've been sorting out all my baby stuff and it's had me in tears a few times. We've agreed on 2 and I couldn't cope with another BUT I still feel a little sad that I'll never experience the magic of it all again.

X

Hey Nat so glad you finally got an answer xx Aw she sounds just perfect and petit xx Oisín is a monster he's between 18-24 month clothes and some 2-3 years!! Still not braved walking alone I really thought he'd have gone by now but I think he's a lazy bum haha he's had the winter vomiting bug from yesterday evening until around 11 am so he's been getting lots of cuddles xx

Glad they've confirmed a diagnosis for you Nat. She sounds so dingy and cute!
TS, winter virus sounds not very nice. Hope he's on the mend soon.

It was alfies first birthday last Thursday, we had a quiet day at home and then had family and friends over for cake on Saturday which was was nice. He's starting to stand up on his own without holding onto things so I don't think it'll be long before he tries to take a few steps. I feel sad he's growing up, he's got such a personality now!

Glad you got the official diagnosis Nat. It's helpful that the cooked milk products don't affect her as that makes it very tricky.

With you on the pregnancy thing too. We only ever wanted 2 and I'd never cope with a third now after only having a 14.5 month gap between my two, so my husband had a vasectomy a few months ago. Still strangely sad that I will never have another though, even though I never want another. Guess it's just the way us women are wired, so we continue to procreate.

Hope Alfie had a nice birthday Toni?

My little lady weighed 21lb 6oz about 3 weeks ago. She's still feeds a lot through the night, but not much during the day now. Last feed is usually around 6am and then she tends to go through until bedtime without a feed. She does want one at 1pm sometimes if she's going for a nap though. But, she then feeds about 7pm, 11pm, 2-3am and 6am which is a bit of a killer after 13 months non-stop and on the nights before I have work. I can't bear to stop though as she loves it so much. We co-sleep which makes it easier thankfully.

Glad you got your diagnosis Nat. It seems that it is such a faf to get that a lot of kids grow out of the alergy before they are diagnosed. In your case it seems a little more serious than some so the diagnosis should be helpful.

I have been doing rubbish with weight. I dont think I've ever been so heavy infact. I thought I was doing well but after our loss at the end of the year I was very weak so couldnt do exercise for a while and I kind of comfort ate myself out of it. We are TTC again now and I really need to loose weight or I think my body will struggle to cope with the pregnancy weight. Maybe its a good thing I always start pregnancy by loosing weight because of the morning sickness, lol.

Tomas is charging about confidently on his two feet but doesnt talk much, only a not very clear word here and there. I remember DD talking a lot more by this time. I think they are all different. His latest thing is climbing onto the kitchen chairs to reach things so have to be really careful about hot things, knifes and open windows etc. Yesterday I turned my back on him for 30 seconds and turned around to find him sitting on the kitchen table.

Oisin's had his first hair cut xxx love him so much xxxxxx

Hey ladies!

Nat wow, can't believe bea has a milk allergy! Glad you've had it confirmed.

TS oisin is super cute :)

Bunny I'm not surprised you comfort ate after what you went through! Glad you're ttc again, that's such positive news x

I've officially taken redundancy now and received my 9 months salary payout which is basically going on paying off debts and surviving for a few more months. I might treat myself to a dyson cordless though

I wrote loads more on the post above!

I've applied to study childrens nursing in sept with a view to specialising in neonatal. It's insane how much having babies can literally change us!

Has anyone else's lo's started to have tantrums? I don't rememebr freddie having them at 13 months but Mollie throws herself all over the place tantruming and it's becoming really frequent! I'm just baffled as I'm not sure if it's a girl thing, or a 2nd baby thing, no idea!
She's definitely a chatterbox, although it's all gibberish. She did say upsy daisy earlier though when ITNG was on :) I'd love to know what she thinks she's saying, but it mostly comes out as "lakalakalaka mo moo lakalaa"

Jolly that sounds very exciting! After I had Alfie, I was seriously considering midwifery but since have had a change of mind.

Alfie has been having tantrums since 11 months old, I'm hoping he will get them out the way early! We get the whole throwing himself on the floor, going stiff when being put in highchair/pushchair/jumperoo. Nappy changes are also a huge battle! Which is interesting when he's done a poo.

He's been and had his 13 month injections this morning and was very brave bless him. We've enquirer about having the meningitis b injection done privately but there is no where in my town offering it so I'll be making a few phone calls to the private hospitals today. OHs parents have offered to pay towards them which is nice of them. Has anyone else considered having it down?

I was thinking about it but I have to get them both done and it would cost such a lot, it's awful to not try, but it would be extortionate to pay for both so I'm a bit stuck. Plus nowhere in our area has any stock.

I'm so glad it's going to be debated in parliament, it's a really big deal!

Glad Mollie isn't the only one tantruming

Hello everyone! I've been meaning to post on here for ages but always get distracted!

How was everyone's mothers day? Hope you were all suitably spoilt? I got a bunch of flowers, a necklace with a message from caleb inside - oh - and a 5:15am wakeup because Caleb was so excited!!!

Nat, good you've got the milk allergy confirmed, at least she can have it in cooking which makes life a little easier for you cooking for her and James. How are you finding being back at work? Is Bea all better now?

Jolly, congratulations on the career change! That's really exciting! Did you get your Dyson? I got a small bonus from work and that's what we bought with it - it's lief changing for cleaning the car lol! Is Mollie all healed up now? I was extremely relieved to hear she was tantruming (obvs not for you) as Caleb has been doing this as well. Throwing himself back on the floor and crying - then being okay the next second (last night it was because I offered him a yoghurt and he wanted a banana, this morning it was because i moved him from lying between my legs watching cbeebies to give him a cuddle!!!!!) Changing nappies is also like a round of wrestling, I'm almost glad that nursery deal with that for most of the week lol!

For all his tantruming he is great fun at the moment, he took his first steps about 3 weeks ago, amazingly on the weekend that my parents were up so they got to witness it! He's not really doing it a lot he'll just randomly have a shot and take a few steps then collapse but it's fun to watch! He's babbling heaps, he "oofs" for a dog and says hiya, mama, dada, toast and car has just appeared this week! He also seems to understand a lot and I think that's come on heaps in the last few weeks. If you ask where the cat is in a book he can point to it etc. It's all small things but I get far too excited about it all lol!

Everything is fairly standard with us, Caleb had a great birthday way back when, we just went to the zoo and then to a cafe with small soft play area and on the weekend took him out for dinner and his first bit of ice cream! Candy was randomly up in Edinburgh a few weeks ago so we actually got to meet in person which was lovely and fab to meet little Joel! The boys got on famously so hopefully we'll get another meeting arranged this year. We are looking to put our flat on the market in the next week or two, we have spent the last 3/4 weeks freshening it up so life has just felt manic and I'm looking forward to spending my time snooping around other peoples houses as we view them instead of constantly being covered in white gloss paint!

Hope everyone is doing well! xxx

Awww lovely to hear you had a PF meet up!!!

Life is chaotic but good. James is fab and Bee is a bit easier at the moment, despite the tantrums and the fact SHE DOES NOT SLEEP - she has never, ever come close to sleeping through. It's starting to get to me now I'm back at work but I'm reluctant to sleep train as she is quite a high maintenance child. I dread to think how she'd react to being left to self settle.

Work is going well, 3 days is a lovely balance.

We have no words here really, other than 'mammmeeee' which she says repeatedly and for everything lol.

Walking wise she is amazing though, she has been walking outside since she was 1. She was so much earlier than James.

MMR was done last week and we're looking into having the Men B privately (undecided at the minute and all the clinics are out of the vaccine until June / July)

Having a well deserved evening out tonight as a friend of mine is down from Scotland so it's dinner and cocktails with the girls.

Health kick starts [again] Monday.
