***Jan & Feb Mummy and Baby***

Hey Nat xx sounds like your doing great xx I've had to give up on bf as I ended up moving Oisin onto hungry baby milk but he's great thankfully. Can't wait to hear how your little beauty gets on with mw today xxx

Hey just found the thread :) I too was suppose to be a January mummy but ended up in December, stuck with the same group throught pregnancy so would love to stay here now too :) congratulations to all the new mummy's :) hope you are all getting on well with your new babies :)

Brody was born 11/12/14 at 06.06 and was 6lbs 8 1/4oz, we would love to be added too.

Brodys doing well, we are settling into a sort of routine, and I just love him more than I could ever imagine. Brody had breast and expressed breast milk for the first month, but due to being born early, and then thrush due to antibiotics I was on, he has never gone back to the breast, and my milk started to reduce with only pumping, so we changed to formula, I felt terrible about it at first, but now I see how happy he is, it makes it easier to feel it was the right choice for us. Day are night he is a pretty relaxed baby so I just feel blessed.

During my 20week scan I was told Brody had dilated kidneys, which were kept a close eye on, they did improve at birth thankfully, but we had a check up scan again when he was 6 weeks and the right one is still dilated and measuring slightly worse again, but nothing much to be done right now, just follow up scans, and as he grows they will decide what to do. We just have to keep on the look out for infection.

Health visitor today, so will get to see how much weight he has put on in the last three weeks, was 8lbs 5oz last time. And he gets his injections at the end of the week, he is growing so fast.

Sorry for the long post, but can't seem to stop myself rambling on when it's about Brody haha. As I said before, hope you are all well. Xxxxx

Hey all, still expressing here! Had a very emotional night last night as we tried and failed to breast feed yet again. Nate sounds very much like Bee Carnat, sleeps great in the day but very hard to settle over night. My partner is going back to work tomorrow so I'm doing tonight on my own (we've been getting up together in the night with Daddy feeding him whilst I express to save time) so I hold out little hope of sleep tonight. I've also had a migraine for 3 days now. They disappeared while I was pregnant so I think they're making up for lost time. I'm doped up to the eyeballs but its hard with a little'un.

Hey kiwi, I'll definitely add you of course :-)

Nat you're doing fab, it's just totally different to last time for you so of course it will take time to get used to, but I totally understand that about being stuck to the sofa with boobies out!

We're off to bed in a bit to try and make up for last night. Had the hv today and mollie is now 8lb 4oz :-) little babies are adorable but too fragile so I'm really happy she's growing now. She certainly eats enough! She's been draining 4oz so hv said to up the oz in her bottle to 5!! X

Hi all, good to see you here.... joining this thread now and also feeling like i'm literally with boobs out all day. Last night was our first back at home with a very unsettled baby until 5 AM....

I'm sure it'll get easier... eventually!!

We had MW yesterday and Bee is 7lb 5oz.... I'm so pleased she is growing well. She is still smaller than James was at birth lol. All her clothes drown her.

Managing to grab a few hours at night which helps. Not getting much else done though. Thank God I stocked up the freezer so we're eating a decent evening meal.

X

We had health visitor yesterday too, Brodys 10lb 10oz he is growing really fast, can't believe he is going to be 8 weeks now on Thursday. Think we are finally getting better through the night, he slept lastnight from his last feed at 11pm till 4.30, then he woke up, made a wee bit of noise and decided to go back to sleep and only woke for his feed this morning at half 6, so feeling pretty blessed this morning, but he fairly stocks up on the feeding through the day then. Guess it's just the perks of him getting older :) over the last months thought the day where I got more than 2 hours sleep at a time would come haha. Xxx

How the hell did I miss this thread...oh I know, because I am also tethered to the sofa with my boobs hanging out all day lol. I feel like a milking cow to be honest! I forgot how relentless BF was in the early days as I only made it to 11 days with Joe before my milk just dried up so we had to switch to formula then.

Jolly, info for front page...Freya was born 10.29am on 12th Jan and was 7lb 13oz.

Can't believe we're all here from Jan (well, almost lol) and the feb mums are already joining. Seems like only yesterday we were all stressing in the tri-1 thread and waiting for the magic 13 week scan!

I am heeeere! So glad there's a joint jan feb thread with my little tinker coming a day shy of jan!

Ceecee I agree it's totally surreal. Doesn't seem like yesterday we all had our bfps! Xx

Just posting to say hi and join in. Have been reading some posts but every time I try to join in something interups me, I guess it can be expected with a newborn and toddler around.

Do we need to post our details for the front page, or are you going to copy them from the 3rd tri thread?

Congrats to those who have now moved over !

Had clinic today Freddie is a chunky monkey at 10 12oz he was 4 weeks on Saturday... and have suggested hungry baby milk in a few weeks, as he is having 5oz and then an hr later wanting another 2/3 I have monster !! Any one had experience with aptamil hungry baby ? What do u ladies think ?

Hope everyone is well xx

Hello ladies, we'll I can officially move over now. We had a gorgeous baby girl on Sunday called Ruby at 5lb 15oz, the amount of love you can have for something is so surreal! Anyway, it was our first night at home last night and I struggled and panicked about getting her comfy in her Moses basket.

I've read not to sleep them in hats but how can I or does anyone now the best way to keep her warm at night? We don't have a swaddled blankets or a sleeping bag so are using a cellular blanket. Is there a good way to wrap her up?

Sorry for asking a stupid question, first time mum an all that so feeling like everything I'm doing is wrong!

Xx

Congrats pip! I am sort of sure of the answer but would rather let one of the more experienced Mums answer and guarantee it's right as I'm a first timer too! We are still in hospital and just using cellular blankets covering him.

Jolly just to confirm - Joel (middle name Hayes) born 11.52am 1/2/15 weighing 9lbs 6 1/2 oz.

Xxx

Hey Pip. Congrats on baby Ruby!

At the moment I loosely wrap Bee in a cellular blanket (so its round back of her head and meets over her front) and then I cover her with another. No idea if this is right or wrong lol.

It may be worth keeping the heating on a 'low' temp. Also with James we used a gro-egg to keep an eye on room temp.

My little lady has been asleep since 10pm. Boobs are leaking and that woke me up lol. She is stirring so no doubt I'm in for a mammoth feed soon.

X

Please add me!! Rafferty born at 20.33 on 20th Jan weighing 8lb 3oz!

We are doing good-he was weighed by health visitor yesterday at exactly 2 weeks old and he now weighs a whooping 8lb 14oz! We are BF so he is doing very well and guzzling away. We are managing to get about 2-3hours at night in between feeds where he is up for about an hour then in the day he tends to feed more regularly but for less time. So nice to know support is here should we need it-hope all you with feeding worries manage to find a way to make baby happy-forget anyone else xxx

Thanks ladies, i'll try that tonight. It's all so new & i'm petrified of doing something wrong! Loving every minute though, my partner is besotted with her so we are literally fighting for cuddles!!

Why are they sooooo wide awake at night time!? I love seeing her beautiful eyes open but not when i'm using match sticks for mine haha

Xx

Pip - I asked the midwife about this yesterday because Grace always has cold hands. She said it's much better for babies to be a bit chilly (they will soon let you know if they are too cold) than too hot as overheating makes them drowsy. She said as long as her body is warm, all is ok, and they shouldn't wear hats indoors. We have been swaddling Grace in a blanket to make her feel more secure but she is not a big fan of her Moses basket and screams for most of the night until she is picked up! Zzzzz

Pip, Hope things are settling well now! ^-^
This is just what I used to do. You don't need an actual swaddle blanket to swaddle baby. (If that's what you want to do) A generous sized cellular would be perfect ^-^
I used to lay it diagonally on the bed, put baby down with his head on the diagonal 'top corner' (laying on the blanket still) Pull the right corner round baby and tuck it in behind & under his back. Then lift the bottom corner and tuck it in over the shoulder and finally wrap the left corner around the opposide side, on the outside. The top corner can be used to cover babies ears just to keep them extra snug. In the moses basket I had 2 rolled up blankets either side and baby used to fit in the middle. I also had a muslin that I had kept tucked under my boobs all day next to him so he could smell me. It worked for us even when he used to be extra wriggly :P He also learnt that swaddle time was bed time.
My monster was 9lb so your dainty lil dink may drown in blanket lol Mummy's instinct though, you do it how you feel you should and find a way that is just right for you :D xXx

Gah, sorry for long post, I shouldn't even be over here yet lol xXx

Pip- They tell you not to use hats indoors because of the risk of overheating. Cold hands don't always mean baby is cold because their circulation to the hands is not great to start with so you should feel their body. Our house is just not warm enough for LO though and he gets cold easily so I have no choice but to use a hat on him in bed. I just noticed your LO was just under half the weight of our chunky man at birth, lol.
