First icsi

11 - great result - fingers & toes crossed now for fertilisation overnight :)

Hope you're feeling well xx

p.s. definitely agree with the people recommending cyclogest pessaries going in the back way, I kept getting awful thrush & pain after a few days when I tried the front way! *TMI warning!!* it's a bit weird at first but a lot less messy in my experience - the white stuff comes out on the end of your poo rather than as sticky gloop in your pants!!

Thanks ladies, got the phone call, 8 fertilised but we now only have 6, the embryologist has said that spermie & egg quality wasn't fantastic & that there's 3 that aren't doing too great, so probably looking at 3 & they may want to do a 2 day transfer tomorrow, it's so hard its got us all with mixed emotions xxx

Keep positive honey, I know lots of success stories with 2 day transfers where quality hadn't been top notch, you've come this far, stay optimistic xxx

Hey hun, I know it's hard but remember that's why they want lots of eggs for ivf as you do lose a lot along the way - the aim is to identify the best 1 or 2 so you're very much in the game with 3. From what I've read online it is the norm to transfer on day 2 in other countries regardless of how many embryos you have - they pick 1 or 2 to transfer and keep the others going afterwards to see if any are suitable to freeze. Different to what is done in the UK but it must work. And I had a day 2 transfer so keep positive ;) xxx

Thanks ladies, it's true and I suppose it's always hard the waiting game, but like you say we are staying positive for the best ones and we were saying that this is the furthest stage we've ever made as far as we know, we've never actually ever had anything fertilised the whole time we've been trying so we've reached a whole new step and that's positive :) hubby and I are going to go out for a stroll, get some fresh air think we need it x
Brown eyed indeed you disc I'm so happy for you :)
Started the old pessaries today hopefully twice a day they will help, still undecided about the route I'm going to stick with ha ha

I started back door but ended up front door!!! Made me terribly constipated up the back door :-o ! Panty liners will be your best friend if you go front door!! The joys! X

I have everything crossed for your little embies. Keep positive, there are so many success stories, when I am feeling doubtful about everything I do a google search and have a read of only the success stories to reassure me.
I prefer back passage (that sounds wrong, only for cyclogest purposes, lol) as I seem to get urine infections quite easily and it says not to use front if that is a problem, also less messy. I do agree with Dee, did get a little constipated but only lasted a short while and then was fine xx

That's interesting about 2 day transfers in other countries.
Its great to know you can get to the embryo stage, its the only thing that made us feel better when our first IVF didn't work. But hopefully at least one of yours will go all the way! Fingers crossed!

Thanks :)
Lol all these decisions do make me giggle, the things we have to do he he, I'm thinking I don't relish the idea of "clearing out" any remaining gel going front door, May try both ha ha!!

Waiting for our next phone call, fingers crossed for some good news, if transfer happens today, any tips on what to do after ?

Great follicle/fertilisation numbers, ladies! Wishing you all the best :)

On the OHSS front, I developed "late onset" OHSS (due to the hCG in my system - so right after the trigger, and then when the embryo actually implanted) after embryo transfer and I had a week & half of literally the most constant painful experience of my life (*), I felt like all my insides were being crushed.

(*) including wisdom teeth being sawed out of my jaw which was over a day's agony!

That experience was extremely horrible so I hope you don't end up going through it xx

It started off as bloating with some discomfort, e.g. I had to roll my tights down to my hips at work, but then the bloating continued & I put on over 3kg (half a stone) in a few days, looked about 5 months pregnant, and could barely walk.

Oh my goodness tinsel, that sounds awful! I really hope I don't get to that stage. I felt a bit faint when I went for a shower but seem to be ok now. Its odd because I've not got any pain at around my ovaries, it seems to be further up where the bloating and uncomfortableness is xx

Hey eclairef hows it all going for you x

Hey, well I have ended up in hospital! Came in last night after not being able to take anymore of the pain and bloating. I feel relieved that I'm in. Today would have been transfer day for me but that's definitely now happening! We have 3 embryos at blasto stage so they'll all get frozen. I guess we just have to hope that at least one of them survives the thaw for FET! I think that'll take place in around 6-8 weeks. I'm totally ok with it though and want to be 100%.

How are you? You must be excited knowing you could have your transfer today!! I have everything crossed for you xx

Sorry your not feeling well. I felt the same as you, you want your transfer to be positive and It just wouldn't be when you feel so sick. I had 3 blastocysts frozen so sounds like your in the exact same position I was. When I started to feel better I started to get a bit anxious counting my 3 periods until the day I could have it. I was nervous as hell for the whole 3 months, and mine worked! They have very good success rates for frozen transfers and 3 months will be here in no time. Hope you feel better soon, hugs xxxx

So they call you on the day to tell you to come in for transfer? I thought they would tell you the day before...so much to learn for me lol
I don't have any tips on what to do after, I will be having acupuncture and taking it easy for the rest of the day I expect xx

Thanks :)

How exciting that you may have your transfer today :) when I got home I lay comfortably on my left side (better for blood flow) and just put a cushion on my stomach. Don't use any heat as its not good for implantation. I had a little sleep right away as didn't sleep the night before! For the next few days I was careful not to lift anything and I went on short 20 mins walk to keep my blood flow good, always slept on my left side but I think that was more because I only have the left side of my womb so wanted gravity to do its part haha!

The actual transfer experience is really quite moving and so quick. I cried for some of mine as emotions were so high that day! Just enjoy it if you can, make it a happy positive day! Get yourself your fave thing for tea and have your oh make it :)

Good luck :) xxx

Thanks Charlie, you've made me feel a bit better about things. We had 10 embryos on Monday (day 3) and the embryologist said there was no clear winners so they were leaving them till day 5. My husband seems really disappointed we've only got 3 blastos to freeze and worrying about them surviving thaw, after having 10 embies 2 days ago. xx

We had 9 and went down to 3 so I think it's quite normal. If you can get 3 blastos that's really good going as they only freeze good quality :) I'm sure your blastos will be fine for the thaw. I didn't even realise that there was a risk when thawing until the day of the transfer when they ring to say if one doesn't survive do we want them to keep going an thaw the next. It was a panic for half an hour but all was ok! I'm sure it will be fine. Will you be having a drug assisted Fet? Xx

I'm so sorry you've ended up in hospital but like you say you want to be 100% and ready for your little embies :) are you feeling any better ?

So they have just called and our embies have held their own overnight! They started to divide nicely the embryologist has said and so they are going to carry on and hold out for blastocyst and hopefully transfer late Friday or Saturday !!! X

Oh what a relief! I keep checking in waiting for news, everything crossed they keep doing their thang xxx
