February 2018 Mummies - the final hurdle

❤️❤️❤️He is gorgeous tor no wonder you are made up!! Xx

And out of office for maternity leave..., ON!!!

Yey felt like I'd never get here!!

Awww baby is beautiful TOR.

Sadly Edith is still in neonatal and will be for for the foreseeable.

There is an issue with her muscle tone and feeding. Initial tests and screening [including brain scan] haven't picked anything up so now they want to do some genetic testing (to look at her DNA and see if it shows anything) and they want to monitor her. She is out of her incubator and only has a feeding tube so doing much better on that front.

They are still saying it's all precautionary at this stage but there is clearly something going on.

She is a beautiful little thing, I'm having lots of skin to skin but haven't been able to get as much as a drop of colostrum.

Also not looking forward to leaving her, but the neonatal has no space for parents and I have my other 2 at home.

Wishing everyone well.

X

Scan done.

She has jumped from 3lb 10 at 31 weeks to 5lb 7 at 34 weeks. Literally going up the centiles in one leap. She's still within normal range though.

Carnat. Sending you and Edith much love. Xx

Oh hun I'm sorry she's not able to come home with you.

It must be such a worry and you must feel so torn to want to be with her but missing James and Bee.

I really hope that there's nothing serious and she just needs a little time to adjust to life on the outside.

Maybe try having a nice bath and snuggling up comfy at home and try expressing again when you're in familiar surroundings and more relaxed. A warm compress and some gentle breast massage can help with hand expressing too. I hand expressed everything (which wasn't much! Took literally over a month to get one full feed!) as my body didn't respond well to a pump. Eat, drink, rest and look after yourself.

Carnat thinking of you and Edith xxx sending lots of love and hope she can come home to you all soon xxx

Sending love carnat. good news she is out of the incubator. I hope she is home with her mummy and daddy and big brother and sister very soon.

Xxx

Hope Edith is sorted soon.

Turns out I have parvovirus caught off my daughter, the hospital have rung me tonight, they want me to leave my section date as it is but need to speak to a paediatrician incase baby needs anything when it's delivered. All a bit worrying really, waiting for the next 11 days now x

Oh no! So it was slapped cheek? :( poor you. I think it causes most problems if you catch it before 20weeks - I thought Tilly had it and went to gp and that’s what he said to me.

Yes it was! The midwife I spoke to said the consultant was happy to leave me but because I have it it could cause some problems at birth but hopefully nothing serious as baby is now fully developed. From the sounds of it I will have to have paediatrician in when I have section just in case anything is wrong x

Ruth - fab about out of office! Enjoy!

Ts - great about the weight! Thats fab!

Beau - what a nightmare! Hopefully all will be ok xx

Wednesday. I thought so too. They don't seem concerned. Said it's quite a jump so I'll speak to my consultant on Tuesday.

Just think.. 5 days and you’ll have a baby! The section is just the process to get it here safe. It’s routine, done every day by skilled people. Take the painkillers and the help when offered and spend your days cuddling the little life you’ve brought into the world. And no labour to go through!

Ruth - enjoy the tour!

Tor - I know.. Im trying to stay positive! Im just so scared of the recovery bit. No labour is a positive though, so I should be fully rested and ready for a lifetime of no sleep haha
