Closed - old IVF thread

Hey girls, interesting reading your stories of bein teachers. Im a primary teacher too but in Scotland so been back since Aug 13th. Ive luckily got a really great head (guy) andd a depute head who is just like my mum so they have been good with helping me with the process but I do feel guilty with all the appointments snd things. Its them having to get cover or do it themselves. The hospital are always late and you cant predict when you will get back. I guess its just something you have to accept as its what I need.

She was lovely. Had a friend who went through ivf so she knew the process. Said anything I need for support she will Put in place whether now or the Fet . Was a relief .

That's great Greek! Perfect response and a load of your mind I bet :) which helps :)

Laura - I can imagine what you mean about feeling a bit guilty but you're right - you need the time and you're not taking the mick. It's good that they're being understanding :)

Hello ladies, sorry Ive missed a few days on here just caught up with the chat!

Lou - sorry I missed you going off again - good luck hun, hope it's all good X

Greek, Rea and LauraT - All teachers!!! spooky - and brave , very brave - I don't think I could do it. You also have to have a really direct bedside manner I think, some of them scare the pants of me at parents evening, I always come away feeling like Ive been naughty at our school !! In fact Lou would make a great head teacher!! ha

Rea - thanks lots of the feedback on what you did after transfer, I did take it easier for me, but still had to do alot of walking , pickups and normal mum stuff, it was a busy last week at school as one of mine left junior school yr6 , hubby was at work at night and asleep in day so had to look after Devon which involved lifting him etc, I know they say that nothing would make embie fall out , if it wants to stay there, but I do think I will have to make sure I can lay about next time. guess it depends on timings, but I fancy going to bed with a book for hours at a time and saying I have hurt my back to kids etc.. Sure imediately after a day 5 blasto transfer , it's going to try an implant fairly quickly isn't it, so two to three days etc... Thanks lots tho X

Hang in there till thursday Greek - not long now - don't let the 2WW drive you crasy, I have a good feeling about you this week x

How are you doing at the mo, Scotch and Tinks?

JennyMarie - well done for starting DR - hope your perios arrives earlier than later to get it out of the way

Me - Well even tho not ttc as no point , I have faint lines on my opks, only started testng early with cheepys incase I missed it as period was only 3 days long for some reason... I am only CD8 tho, but it's exciting to be poas every day to help my for my future fet plans, even if it's not a preg test stick! ha

Ha JJ!! I probably have scared a few parents in the past. Mind you some parents sure scare me too!!

Delegating. Yes, I can do delegating JJ ;)

Head teachers don't really deal with kids either unless they are in trouble, well, I hardly saw mine (honest ) so that'd suit me.

Actually though, at my primary school the head teacher recently left and all the teachers who had been there for decades passed up on the role and let a new guy do it - that's got to tell you something :oooo:

Congrats on the pos OPK :) It was pretty early but I guess that's to be expected.

Greek - have you tested yet? Surely your not going to wait until Thursday... ;)

Skeando - im sorry about your news :( It's a bit stupid of her to say that they can't put you on a higher dosage as it this cycle is do or die because they can still tweek your protocol in other ways. Try not to think about it xx

Laura and Jenny - hope the DR is going alright for you both :)

Rea - how is the pregnancy going so far?

AFM - I've got a very sore belly with being on stim day 9 :( I can't believe my next scan isn't until Tuesday.

You're welcome JJ. I can imagine it would be very difficult to put your feet up when you have a family and a littl'n who, understandably, wants cuddles etc... I think you're right and the blasto implants within 2/3 days so a couple of days of reading in bed sounds perfect ;) xx

Hi Lou Lou!
Arr it's nice to have you back forumming hun :)

Well, I am still symptomless at the moment... I have to confess actually that I bought another pregnancy test today and i'll be doing it tomorrow just in case the first two (which were from the one pack!) were dodgy  I know it's a bit nuts!
I have a date for my early scan - 25th Sept :)
Looking forward to a few more BFP news in here over the next few weeks ;) xx

Skeando - was measurement did they use pmol, ngml? The ranges are very different so check

I don't know, she never actually told me any number, but when she went out the room to go and get my nasal spray I sneaked a look and it just said 4.0 in file.

All she said to me was that it was a bit low and that it could mean I won't respond to the drugs so they are putting me on highest dose.

Not knowing anything about AMH I had to come home and google.... if I had known then that there were 2 scales I would have just asked which one it was on.

Hay Everyone!

Sorry I have been away for so long. Have been really busy setting up my own business.

So ive been on stim for 13 days. I have around 20 eggs BUT they just arent growing!!!
Im waiting on a call to find out the next steps.
They have been taking stim really slowly with me as I have a really high ema (which I assume is the hormone that produces eggs)
Ive only been on 100iu a day. 3 days ago they increased me to 150iu.

im starting to get annoyed with all this malarkie now!

LouiseB how you doing?

xxx

Aw Rea, that must be a bit surreal to finally be pregnant and to feel no different but I bet it's very common xx

Hiya Pennie! Starting up a new business AND doing IVF, very busy lady :) What is ema? I've not heard of it before.

20 follicles certainly is a bumper crop! So what size are they? Are they literally not growing at all? How thick is your lining?

I'm on stim day 10 now and have my second scan tomorrow :) So far so good I think. I'm on 150iu and on stim day 7 had 6mm lining and 11 follicles, the biggest being 11mm.

When is your next scan? xx

Well, they are between 8 and 12mm. lining is perfect! but they expected follicles to be allot bigger and was suppose to have retrieval today or tomorrow but looks like that wont be happening.
EMA is apparently the hormone that helps produce and mature eggs.
They were talking about dumping this cycle so Im really really worried.
Just waiting on the call with the next step.
I dont really know why they would go straight to dumping this cycle. I have loads of eggies i just need longer on the puregon surely.

xx

Hmm, perhaps they are worried that to increase the follicle size would increase follicle numbers and you would be a high risk for OHSS seeing that you already have a lot of follicles? :eh:

Hopefully it won't come to that

It must be so frustrating for you, I hope the call comes soon. Let us know xx

So had to call them but got my answer, I have to increase my puregon to 225iu a day and have a scan friday at 830.
Feeling so deflated. If there is no good change in my follicles then i will have no choice than to abandon my cycle.
really dont know what to think.

xxx

C'mon Pennie, that's good news

If your body uses that extra FSH on the follicles you have, the is no reason why you can't see an improvement by your next scan :)

Friday is quite a way off too, so surely you'll see lots of juicy big follicles - have faith xx

Hey Skeando I was told pcmol scale at the Royal so think they would both be the same but maybe not!

feeling a bit better now. I have 20 eggs ranging between 9mm and 13mm my puregon has increased to 225iu so im really hoping i hit the average of 2mm growth a day. so scan on friday should show some lovely big follies.
The hospital have admitted to my OH that they mistakenly gave me puregon dose of 100iu and it should have been 150iu so im playing catch up. (also found out that they made the same mistake with everyone in my cycle...tut..tut)

xx

LouiseB,

Completely messed up on my abbreviations, i meant i have a very high AMH not EMA or what ever i wrote. lol

Sorry!

xx

Ahhh, I see Pennie :) I know what AMH is ;)

OMG  I can't believe they got your dosage wrong! That is really bad

I'm glad you are feeling better :)

Skeando - interesting link, thanks! :)

AFM - had a rubbish scan. I had a different consultant today and she referred to my previous scans follicles as very small. Then she measured and even though my lining is 12mm, my follicles are still much smaller at this stage than previous cycles.

Normally I'd have EC stim day 12 or 13 but i think it might even be stim day 16 this cycle and I might only get 7 eggs :(
