Working! last day in the office today, woohoo

So apparently I'm completely selfish for wanting to stay home longer then 6 months :-\
I should be going back full time and hubby going part time.

devastated at this.

Hubbys said he can't afford to support me while I'm not earning as he only has 300 a month a spare after his bills.

Xx

So are you going to be definitely gling back after 6 months?
That is devastating, but the good thing is LO will still have a parent to look after him. Its very late for this to come about though. Xx

Hubby works shifts so him going part time will be impossible to find childcare for. I do earn better money then him so that's why he says I shouldn't be going part time.

Ill still end up doing everything and we will still have to pay out on loads of childcare so won't be better off at all :-(

Xx

oh hunny im so sorry to hear this - so your work full time and hubby part time and he will look after baby.. had this not been discussed when u got pregnant ?
i really feel for you i would feel like i am missing out, as u say as a mummy you will end up working full time AND still doing all the mum things too.
is he not being flexible or is it set in stone now?
xxx

We joked about 2 years ago that he could be a stay at home dad but I thought it was always the case I'd go back part time!

The only way ill go back full time is if work won't let me go part time but that's very unlikely. I'm not backing down on this lol.

The most frustrating bit is I've been so good with money the last few months. I've managed to save a few hundred - now hubbys seen this he wants it to pay off his credit card (which he's been spending on without me realising!)

And in the last 2 months I've had to shore up the joint account by £600 extra (which I would have saved towards mat leave) as his pays been wrong. I know that when his pay is corrected that money won't go back in to savings too.

Its so frigging frustrating!

Xx

Id be very inclined to refuse and tell him to be better with his money. I helped my OH get out of all his financial troubles as I am good with money, but in return, I now have a credit card and two overdrafts and three credit accounts. He has said he will do all he can though to make sure we are financially stable while im on mat pay.

Could u take his cc off of him? Lol I know that sounds bad. But spending never helps eh xx

Spin sugar i hope you sort things out

Kel hope it aint me just yet, we have SOOO much to do xx

Thanks for letting me rant guys. I had a good cryand feeling ok today. We've agreed to just see how it goes.

I think I saw hubby cutting up CC yesterday but I didn't want to make an issue out of it!

Last day at work today (in theory) yay! Slept so bad though...oh well!

Kept getting very odd sensations last night, kinda like bad IBS cramps, and the worst shooty foof pain when I went to the loo. So much thst I yelped and hubby had to help me back to bed, oh dear!

We should get a sweepstake going!

Xx

Spin, you should draw up a budget and phone round childcare places. You will find it hard to find a place to have a child different days each week. And most have minimum terms. It costs £56 a day here for the cheapest place. £72 a day for the most expensive I've found. If you can get your facts you might be able to prove to your hubby that its best you stay off financially.

Hello everyone!

Sorry to invade in the middle of your conversation :oooo: I have been on the forum for about a week - just lurking and reading some of the birthing stories (eek!) - and thought it was about time that I said hello

My EDD is 09 August - so 4 weeks today (double eek!) and I've been told that I'll be induced 7 days after that, so max 5 weeks til she's here (triple eek!!). Very exciting - can't wait to meet her

Wishing you all the best of luck with the last few weeks of pregnancy - excited to see all of our little ones arriving :)

Spinsugar - sorry to hear about your work situation! Things like that are never that straight forward are they? It is difficult when you are used to two full-time salaries, making a drop to one or one and a half! I am lucky working from home which means I get to stay with the baby but we don't earn enough for me to be able to reduce my hours or even take long off as maternity as I only get SMP which is rubbish after the first 6 weeks so I have 7 weeks off, 1 week holiday, then 6 weeks maternity. Going back to work full time after such a short time will be hard, even if it is at home. I hope it all works out for you xx

Hi Loueeza! Nice to hear from you, welcome to August mummies! :)

4 weeks, eek not long! I'm on 3 weeks today, anxiously waiting for signs of early labour, can't wait to meet our lo too!
