*** August mummies 2019 ***

Hi everyone, hope it’s okay for me to join.
I’ve recently found out I’m about 6 weeks pregnant with baby number 3. My youngest is 13 so it feels like the 1st time again!

So far I have had the normal symptoms, tender boobs, exhausted etc. The last few days morning sickness has really kicked in, room spinning, hot sweats...like the worst hangover ever! I forgot how much I hate this feeling. With my first pregnancy, a girl, I was sick the whole way through my pregnancy but baby number 2, my son, it only lasted till about 12 weeks. Fingers crossed for a boy lol!

Hope you’re all having happy pregnancies. I find the first trimester the hardest so looking forward to getting a little further along (health permitting)
Welcome and congratulations :)

I’ve had an appointment on my app come through for my first scan on the 9th jan which I will be 9+5 for so the hospital must want to keep an eye on me I’m guessing, going to cancel my private scan now as I had booked that for the 5th jan so may as well just wait a few more days lol

I won’t complain that I’m still evading the dreaded nausea and sickness at 7 weeks but I’m so poorly!
I’ve got the awful cough and cold that’s doing the rounds and feeling extra sorry for myself. Does anybody know of any baby safe remedies? Most cold & flu has caffeine as a main ingredient annoyingly.
Hope everyone else is doing well in the post-Christmas slump xx
I used snufflebabe saline spray and chest rub when I had a cold/flu when I very first found out I was pregnant, unfortunately I don’t think there much more you can do, you tried a steaming bowl with a towel over your head? Xx

edited cause auto correct sucks!

Rosie, your only friend will be paracetamol unfortunately as all decongestants aren’t recommended :/

Sickness has hit me since yesterday morning. I am not being sick but feeling awful all day long and the room is spinning everything I am on my feet :(
I feel so sorry for myself. I just burst into tears in my partners arms asking him how on earth i was supposed to cope with work in the next week coming!
Hormones are so strong I am questioning everything, planning a change of career etc!
Which I had a job I could sometimes work from home!
If you have any ideas for a job reconversion feel free to share !

Rosie I feel your pain this was me last week. I stuck it out for a few days then took plain paracetomol...snorted on an olbas oil stick(not proven to be safe but also not proven not to be and I was desperate to breathe) also someone recommended to me to get a Calpol plug in....comes with little inserts and emits vapour to help you sleep....did the trick for me. Vicks vapo rub is also save apparently x get well soon x

Thanks all for the tips! My bathrooms pretty much a sauna the amount I’ve been steaming. There’s nothing like already feeling exhausted and hormonal with a dose of illness on top is there.

Anna, it sounds like you’ve got a lot going on you poor thing! Is your job high intensity/physical can I ask? I’d always avoid making big life choices when feeling especially hormonal and grumpy but as someone who’s really committed to my career it’s also something I’m still thinking about a lot. I know I couldn’t move companies now as enhanced maternity leave packages tend only to apply if you’ve got a certain amount of time service pre-pregnancy. That may factor in to your decision? Does anyone at work know your news? I’ve told my manager who’s incredibly supportive and understanding. She’s given me a lot of leeway the last few weeks as the exhaustion hit!

My employer is releasing a lot of new jobs in the new year and I’m uhming and ahing over going for a promotion knowing I’ll be out for 6-9 months from August! It sucks men don’t need to worry about this balancing act.

Ah I’m so glad you get an early scan with your hospital so you don’t need to go private. It’ll give you a much more joined up care too hopefully!

I’ve been under emergency gynae since 5wks and have another scan on tuesday. I’m hoping there’ll be a seamless transition of files for my booking appt with midwife but that’s in a diff hospital so not holding my breath!

I am a nurse and I just feel bored. I know a lot people say it’s such a rewarding job but I feel like I don’t have much in comment with my colleagues. Same with any other colleagues I had in my previous nursing jobs...
I feel like it sticks to its reputation of most nurses not having a lot more in life than their job. And this isn’t me :/
I will carry on for a little while anyways at least until after this baby etc :)
Maybe I’ll use mat leave to start something new who knows :)

At the moment I feel stressed at work and am at work 10hours a day. Physically it is ok but the mental side is quite heavy as I have a fair amount of responsibility and allocated time to see each patient. It’s very stressful.
And at the minute I feel so sick and can’t mémorise a thing :-O

Hope this bloody sickness goes away soon :(
It lasted until 11 weeks to end in a MMC last summer. Hence why I am probably so tearful too !

Hi Whippetmum! Welcome to the thread, what is your due date? I would love to add it to the calendar!x

Rosie, I hated being sick with my first but just sucked it up and waited for it to pass. I even had the flu for a good week when I was about 8 weeks along. Scared me so much since I couldn't keep ANYTHING down. Just water. I kept drinking even though I knew I would throw it up later. I was so scared to lose the baby but she held on! When it's that young, it doesn't need much yet. Hope you feel better soon!x

Anna, I will echo what the girls said since it's better to have a job while pregnant because if you stop, you will lose a lot of your benefits. Hang in there hun! The sickness and fatigue will fade soon!x

Hi ladies,

Glad to see everyone is doing well!

I’m still bleeding quite a bit, went to the Early Pregnancy Clinic yesterday and to my complete shock the baby is fine, and we got to see their heartbeat. The nurse said she’s not concerned about my bleeding at all, as it can happen to some women, and that they will only be concerned if I start passing clots.

I’m still not convinced everything will be ok. I feel like I’m still trying to cope with the miscarriage back in October and with the bleeding now too, it’s having a massive effect on my mental health. I’m absolutely convinced I’m going to have a miscarriage.

We have a private scan tomorrow (kept it as we would lose out on our deposit either way) and tbh, I feel like I’m going to be that crazy woman that’s having a private scan every week lol!

Again, sorry for the rant, I feel that’s all I do on here lol but it feels like a safe place to do so as not many people know I’m pregnant yet.

Has anyone else had bleeding in pregnancy and ended up having a healthy and happy baby? Xx

Rainbow I’m so glad everything is ok for you, I’m also gonna be that crazy pregnant lady who has a scan every 2 weeks or so lol, I hope you stop bleeding soon so it puts your mind to rest. I had a dodgy tummy yesterday so obviously I’ve now convinced myself something is wrong, just can’t win can you, the other day I had barely any symptoms and something was up, now I have them back and I still think something is up! Gah!! Lol

Oh no, I hope you’re starting to feel better? It’s just so frustrating isn’t it, you really can’t win! I find it’s the not knowing which is the hardest part, if only we could have a scan everyday lol!

Yeah I feel better today thankyou, I had the same after Xmas dinner so I think the baby just doesn’t like gravy or peas cuz those are the things I had the same on my plate last night lol! I just want to be hooked up to an ultrasound machine and left to lie in bed watching it for the next 31 weeks lol x

How funny that you react differently to certain foods! At least you have a rough idea of foods the baby doesn’t like lol

Hi all. I'm due 5th september so I thought I'd ask you ladies about morning sickness,/symptoms. When did they start?

I was nauseous and a bit lightheaded and exhausted 7dpo and when I first got my bfp. I have the odd slight bit of nausea now but nothing really at all.

My due date is 22/8

Princess P, my morning sickness kicked in this week (week 6) started with nausea but the last few days have been full on vomiting, room spinning, sweats! I suffered badly in previous pregnancies too . If you’re lucky it won’t be too bad!

My symptoms started at about 9dpo and I got my positive on 11dpo, they’re starting to get really bad this week at 8 weeks

I didn't get sickness with my last two pregnancies just feeling exhausted and no energy. I randomly felt nauseous prevoulsy but not sickness as such. I definitely had symptoms at 7dpo and got my bfp same day since then not so much. Just wondering when to expect It.

Ladies I’ve started bleeding and I’m really worried. I had some light spotting with my first pregnancy but nothing like this, this is fresh red blood. It doesn’t feel like it can be anything good! I’m going to call the EPU first thing and hope for the best. My only positive is that I was really sick this morning so my hormones are still crazy but I’m preparing myself for bad news

Sorry to hear that whippetmum, hope everything goes okay at epu tomorrow. X

Not really got much symptom wise at the moment, just tiredness and hunger pangs. Have the odd icky feelings here and there, but nothing major. Really hope sickeness stays away but I did suffer with nausea with my daughter. X
