***August 2018 Mummies***

I'm booked in for a sweep on August 7th (due date August 10th) I'm really hoping he's here before then though.
Had my last growth scan today and he's estimated at 7lb1oz. On the scan report it said my placenta "appears calcified" they said it's quite normal at this stage but don't remember seeing it with my first. Has anyone else had this? xx

I asked midwife today for a sweep at 39 weeks (next week) as really struggling with heat/hip pain etc and she said there’s no evidence before due date and can cause more pain. So I’m getting one at 40 weeks but really hoping I’ve had baby by then!

I’m booked in for a sweep the day after my due date (5th August) I had midwife appt today and she saw the size of my ankles and looked like she wanted to cry for me haha

Come on babies ! Xx

Mine told me they wont do them on first time mums until 40 weeks but after that they will do them after 37 weeks within reason. She seems to think he'll be here before then but she said she's more than happy to do one at my next appointment (I'll be 39+4)
I really hope all these babies come soon, this heat is killing me xx

It’s interesting to hear all your different experiences of being offered sweeps. Mine has told me they won’t do it until 41 weeks but I might now push for it at 40 weeks if I can. Hoping these babies come soon, although it would be good if they waited until it cooled down a little, I can’t imagine being in labour in this heat! Xx

Hope you’re not all too fed up in this heat! I’m absolutely not coping lol!
Stop start contractions most evenings and they are pretty darn painful but they just die off again :wall:

I’m going to cry hysterically when my gro egg turns from red to orange. We’re sleeping in the living room as it’s way too hot upstairs. Even down here was 29 degrees last night. Harriet hasn’t worn any clothes since leaving the hospital!

Awww bless you! It’s so hot! Although it does give it cooling down this weekend!! My 18 month old has a fan on all night!! How are you apart from the heat Sarah? Your the only August mummy to arrive early!! :) xx

The heat is horrible atm nothing worse than being pregnant close to due date and being hot! 5 more days to go before i get induced! Just want my little prince out now hope all these babies make there appearance soon! Xx

Ladies anyone else have a fear of being induced ? As it’s my first (I’m due on the 4th) I’m terribly worried I’m going to go over and be induced. I know I have a big baby as my partner is 6ft4 I’m a size 14 and 5’7 . My belly is huge ! I’m just so nervous To be induced as I’ve heard it’s more painful and 35% of inductions end in C sections. Which I’m hoping to try and avoid. Was really hoping for birthing centre and water birth but either only 7 days to go, no early signs of labour at all, and the fact my mum and sister went 2 weeks over with their firsts I’m thinking I’m not going to be so lucky :-( x

Yes I want to avoid being induced or all the same reasons, but at the end of the day some people are induced and it’s not that bad, while others go into labour naturally and have difficult deliveries so I think we have to be philosophical.

Ron, I was induced with my first! It’s nothing to worry about! It will be fine! I was induced at 12pm and had her the the following day at 9:12am! Don’t worry or listen to what anyone says!! Things will be ok! With labour it there is often no symptoms and then it starts! Take it from me I was induced and didn’t have any pain relief until I was 7cm I was hoping for a home birth and wasn’t allowed as I was induced and I was ok and my birth was normal no interventions! I was induced because baby was small! Don’t worry lovely things will be ok it doesn’t matter if your family have gone over its each individual and the baby xxxx

Hope you're all coping as well as can be! We have rain and windy conditions today, so much so I'm actually slightly cold but loving it.

I'm booked in for a sweep at 39+5 at Dr's request, but hoping baby shows up a bit before then!

I ended up being put on the drip at 41 weeks with my first as my waters broke but I only managed to get to 4cm. I was already in hospital when it all happened so they kept monitoring me and eventually took me to the delivery suite and got the drip going. I had heard that the drip causes contractions to come fast and painful so I asked for an epidural at the same time.
I'm so fed up now though, been bouncing on my ball all day, walking round town and still nothing. Though the pains in my pelvis got incredibly worse through the night so I think he's moved further down.
Hope everyone is ok, it's quite a bit cooler here after the rain and thunderstorms xx

Nice and cool here today, hope it stays this way! I’m doing good thanks, nothing can prepare you for being a parent. It was a massive shock to my system Harriet coming early. I’m breast feeding which is going well but the pain was horrific for the first 5 days! Midwifes are coming round every 2 days to weigh her as she’s only dinky but she’s started to put weight on today yay!

I had no systems before my waters broke! I wish I’d have chilled a bit before! My midwife appointment the day before she wasn’t engaged.

Ahh thanks Mexico , it’s so nice to hear a positive induction story as so many seem negative ! Lol

How you feeling ? X

No worries at all! I think people can be very negative when it comes to labour! Don’t get me wrong the pain isn’t pleasant but it’s manageable and you get through it, and don’t forget some of us go back time and time again!! Positive mental attitude!! Just think about the little human that you will see at the end of it!! Yeah all good!! Due date is Wednesday! As I was induced I am like a first timer in a way as labour didn’t start naturally for me!! Haha!! How are you? Xx

I've had a few period pain type cramps today and a huge clear out :oooo: earlier this evening but nothing since. I was hoping it was the start :shakehead:

Same Sarah, I keep getting a dull mild period ache , get excited and then it goes Haha damn it !

People always said the last week or 2 drags the most and my god they were right ! Xxx
