August 2017 babies!

Ooer that's strange Spuds, I know its common to have darker pigmentation on the face and tummy during pregnancy so maybe its just showing in a weird place on you? Odd that it would come on so quick though!

I think I'm the biggest by far!! Ahh!

Oh no rose I can't imagine dumping 9 litres!! I would actually be crying in the process!! xx

Hello lovely ladies.
Lots going on here.

CQ, wow, loving your bump.

Some great bf advise going on. Rose, you do sound like an expert.
Would agree with everything you say.
It is really tough, just keep going at it. I would say supplement with bottles ( expressed or formula) in the first few days if you need to. It can be tough establishing a good latch and baby may get very hungry and you need to make sure they have the strength to do what they need to do
Midwives often give very conflicting advise on bf which can be confusing.
My local area had bf clinics with a qualified lactation consultant. She was amazing and helped me to establish feeding. It's worth finding out what is in your area, although I'm sure after birth they give this info.

Also agree about dummies. Held off with my daughter until she was 4 weeks because that's what they advise. Wouldn't hesitate to give one from day one this time!

I'm 17 weeks now, feeling movement very regularly now. But not felt anything again on the outside. It is like a lovely reminder through the day of the new life inside you.

How are you feeling H4R?
Pain any better?
Who else was having pelvic pain. Sorry I can't remember?

Sounds strange Spuds? I know pregnancy can cause pigmentation changes. Those hormone have a lot to answer for!!

Xx

Sorry spuds not heard of that before but my immediate thought was hyperpigmentation as mentioned above.

Would echo Elspeth with just doing whatever you need to in the first few days if you don't think you or baby are coping. Both my babies lost 10% of their birth weight in the first week because breast fed babies always lose weight as it takes about 3 days for your milk to come in properly. With my first I was freaking out and worried about the midwives and HV saying she was losing too much weight and I fed and pumped to try and get supply going and of course she was fine. With my little boy from about day 3 the midwives that come to the house were trying to bully me into giving some formula because of his weight loss and I stood my ground and just told them I knew my milk wasn't in yet and that it would turn around once it was. It took 5 days but once it was there he fed like a demon for months and his weight of course shot up and he has been in the next size up in clothes from his age every since! But of course I would have given formula if I couldn't cope or he was actually unwell from it - at 10lb 1oz at birth he could afford to lose a bit lol!

CQ I had to wait months to work up the strength to dump it all or I would actually have cried!

We have a girl name that we love and 3 boys names which are possible but I'm not really 100% about. I honestly read a list of 2000 names and 3 is what we picked! Whereas I read a list of girls names and this one just immediately was like 'that's it' no question and my OH agreed. We also never tell anyone the name until birth and not because we aren't sure we'll use it but because we don't want to hear anyone's opinions/suggestions on it. Both our families would butt in. For example ad few months after my son was born my mum said 'well I suppose I've got used to his name but I don't think it really suits him' !! We just know what we like so it's tough if they don't! X

Well that's put me off beastfeeding, was going of the idea anyway but now definitely not ha! X

Oh no PB that wasn't the intention! But I know it's not for everyone. It's weird with my first I didn't get this thing where people were all saying 'oh it's a really nice feeling and bond you get' because I hated it but with my second I totally got that and was so sad to stop. It made me realise that all my feelings of discomfort and hating the feeling were all due to the thrush on my nipples. I'd definitely recommend trying it if you think you might want to x

It's cos I have very sensitive nipples all the time anyway like in have to wear a bra with pjs if they have patterns on cos my nips will get sore. I know it's better for baby which is why I want to but ew heh. Xx

I know I'm like a week late with this, but here is my bump last week!

I have sensitive nipples too but I was recommended patch things to help them not to hurt after bf. I will see if I can find them. I am sure I saved them on amazon last time haha x

Tbf I'll give it a go but I've read if you have problems with progesterone your more likely won't be able to BF, on progesterone till 16 weeks... my boobs haven't even changed they've not been sore really. I did buy a bigger bra but they seem to have shrunk back down to normal again now. :/

Is it normal for babies HB to drop from 161 to 130 then back up within an hour? Or is my doppler just having trouble reading it? X

I would say just an issue with your doppler PB, probably baby moving around and it not picking it up accurately :)

I do find the idea of BF weird as well, I especially don't think I could ever do it in public! I much prefer the idea of expressing it and doing it that way. But I know it's the best and natural thing, so will give it a go. My mum is definitely of the view that do whatever suits you, it's better not to stress about it for both of you (and she was a midwife).

PB, from my limited obstetrics knowledge then the fetal heart rate does vary. Both those values sound fine.
Babies have accelerations of their heart rate which is a sign of a healthy baby.
That's certainly true for babies in the third trimester anyhow.
Ask your doctor or midwife about it next time. Hopefully they can give a better explanation than me.
I wouldn't worry about it at all.
Xx

Ahh I have been feeling so tired and headachey the past few days, since my scan on Friday actually. It feels like tri1 again! Boo!

Tummy is feeling harder and harder, but nothing really obvious. No one in the street would guess for sure! Still waiting to feel him as well, but sometimes I think what if I have and just have no idea what it's supposed to be like?

Can't believe I'm 18 weeks tomorrow! Almost half way :o

I've also had a bad headache and bad nausea today! Must be something in the air! Lol. X

Me too. I threw up this morning. So weird??
Feeling exceptionally tired as well.
Really struggling today.

Something in the air!

Hope you feel better soon MissCharli and PB. Xx

How weird! Glad (sort of!) that I'm not on my own haha. Hope we all feel better soon. Miserable weather here isn't helping!
