August 2017 babies!

Just in the waiting room. They sent me to the bigger hospital so called hubby home and he took me. They're not rushing me in so I don't think they think it's serious x

Waiting room is next to the delivery ward thing... hahahaha getting so excited! Seeing little babies taken home :p x

Well we was there for 10 hours for them to tell me it's acid  and apparently everything else isn't related or to do with pregnancy hmm ok... I think that's bull shit. They tested my pee and blood pressure that's it, so idk how they can say it's not pregnancy related and the fact it's never happened before.
And idk why the fk the midwife couldn't have just asked me to my usual Drs surgery to do this if that's alk they did. Was so pissed off.
Oh and because I'm only 23 weeks my pregnancy doesn't matter as much as some 2 ir 3 weeks in front of me :/

Oh PB I'm sorry you had such a shit time at the hospital. Your pregnancy matters as much as anyone else's and they should never have made you feel like that!

How are you feeling now? You could always request a 2nd opinion xx

I am relieved you are ok, it's the blurry vision that sounded worrying to me, but I hope it was just a one off, just one of those strange preg symptoms..but I am annoyed you were unnecessarily put through such a long and tiring and negative experience? And wtf? They made you feel like your pregnancy isn't important enough?!? And why is that?! Instead of making you at least feel well looked after and valued and reassured?? Jeepers some nnnnice (not!) assessment unit that is! You are right wishing you had gone to the GP instead, might even have been more useful and positive Pfffff

Look after yourself xx Are you still on aspirin?? As this can be a pre-eclampsia precaution too?? xx

P.S. Yesss, Tasha is right, if you feel like this again, esp. the blurry vision, plz do NOT hesitate to ask for 2nd opinion xx

Oh no PB how awful, but I'm glad you're alright. Not sure why on earth it takes 10 hours to check your wee and BP when they do this in 10 mins usually...

You did the right thing though and you aren't wasting anyone's time I promise. They had no right to say or make you feel like that :(

Keep an eye on the blurry vision though, I have read that can be a normal thing as well as preeclampsia but better safe than sorry.

And they wonder why people turn to dr google!

Basically kept putting people in front of me when waiting becausethey're further along.. and kept saying oh, your only 23 weeks like I'm not even supposed to be there :/ they're the ones who told me to go in ffs.

Yeah, was waiting for 4 and a half hours then got called through they had my wee and did blood pressure sent me back out to wait for a bed, another 4 hours later got called through they checked babies heartbeat and my blood pressure again. Then told to waitfor dr.. who took over and hour, she came in said yeah its acid take gaviscon, take painkillers for your headache and get your eyes checked by opticians, and prescribed me stuff for my nausea. Then took half and hour just for someone to bring my notes.

My eyes are still blurry and I've been having flashing lights but nothing pregnancy related she said. They found i have stuff in my pee (uti) but because I have no symptoms they won't give me anti biotics?! They kept having ago at me saying I don't drink enough (I drink around 5 liters on a normal day) 1 500ml bottle of water costs 1.40 there so I had 2 and drank 2 liters before I left home but apparently isn't enough and my headache is because I don't drink :/ blah.

I would ring your community mw today and say that his is what they've said and you're not happy, what does she advise to do. Don't bother with your GP, they don't have enough pregnancy experience and they matter very little to a maternity unit - it's your mw that will have more sway.

You can get your symptoms in pregnancy without having pre-eclampsia, I had all of them in both as well as swelling, but I would absolutely not be happy with the way they've treated you!

Also get onto PALS and kick up a fuss, their care of you has been extremely poor! I hope you're ok, do lots of resting today, a gentle walk with the dog and lots of putting your feet up.

What was your BP? It should be written in your notes. And see they wrote about anything being present in your urine. Should hopefully be clear, the concern comes from having ++++ protein/ketones in your urine.

I'm horrified you were treated like that! This is exactly the sort of thing that puts ladies off going in because they think they are time wasting. I was really worried about you because you did seem to have what they list as classic preeclampsia symptoms and it sounds like they didn't check you very thoroughly at all. Bottom line is that preeclampsia is a life threatening condition if not caught early/at all and they should be taking it more seriously when other health professionals have thought you might be showing early symptoms of it. And as for how much you are drinking I think that's insulting to suggest that you are causing your headaches. 5 litres is a huge amount! I drink a lot of water throughout the day but nowhere near that much and I don't get dehydration headaches! Obviously I am having migraines every couple of weeks but they have been proven to be tension and muscle related and not due to drinking enough. Also can't believe you were in there all that time and there weren't water dispensers. All the hospitals I have been in have plenty of free water dispensers in the pregnancy areas.

Definitely speak to your community midwife and make it clear how you feel - I'm furious for you! X

I agree with the ladies above. Definitely call your midwife if poss and make a complaint x

My blood pressure was 107/72 then it was 121/86. Headache is still here. Last night she said that unless i take paracetamol for it and it doesn't work is the only way for them to know of its serious, and if I don't need pain killers probably just dehydration. Not really I just don't wanna take any pills at all while pregnant especially after everything and cos I'm already taking aspirin... ikno paracetamol doesn't hurt baby, but doesn't make me feel comfortable taking it either.
I have my opticians appointment tomorrow... but I've been told.not to buy glasses if I need them because my eyes will go back to normal after baby is here, I'll just get the cheapest one to wear because I basically can't see out the middle of my left eye most he time (if it is my eye sight anyway).
I'll bring it up with my midwife at my next appointment, it's in a couple of weeks.
Thanks ladies, I felt really stupid when she said it was acid, I'm glad you can see why I was panicking! And wasn't just being ott. X

That is a ridiculous view for them to have with regard to paracetamol. Put it this way, in labour one of my friends gave birth with no pain relief, one with just paracetamol, I had gas and air and an epidural - does that mean my pain was worse? No it means they have a high pain threshold and were determined not to have drugs whereas I wasn't. Who are they to say that your headache can't be bad if you won't take paracetamol x
