August 2017 babies!

Yep I am exactly the same haha. He is good at doing the furniture at least :P

Just caught up, blimey you lot can talk!

Loving the name choices you all have, we've agreed in a name too - Lorcan. Can't decide on a middle name so will have to wrestle that one out next.

Sooooo envious of the decorating, we're hoping to move soon so aren't bothering to decorate yet.

Hello ladies,
Yes, lots of catching up.
Rose, I'm so impressed with your DIY.
We've just spent the last 3 years slowly decorating our house room by room.
We are both decided we can't bear the thought of doing it again ( but with two kids) so will be buying a place that is done up.
We've just started house hunting so that's exciting. Kumber when are you hoping to move?

You guys are so organised with names. Lovely choices. It's twice as difficult i think not knowing the sex of baby. We haven't even seriously talked about names yet. With boys names then i have no idea.

I'm 24 weeks too, my belly is huge. Will try and post a picture later.

Xxx

What changing bags have you got or are you getting? I keep looks and there is so many I'm confused. I was looking at a paccapod in leather but they are rather expensive and my husband said it was a waste on money. Is it better to have fabric and washable ? X

Thanks for the well wishes before my scan on Friday ladies! All normal and baby boy (still a boy, good to know lol) is growing nicely. Really reassuring how thorough they are isn't it? I couldn't believe how detailed I got to see his face when they checked for cleft lip. So lovely to start imagining what he'll look like!! :) :)

I have my whooping cough vaccine tomorrow. I also just booked in with the nurse; they just said it had to be after my scan that's all.

Spuds last time I heard baby's heartbeat it was 152 and I'm having a boy. His heart rate has tended to be quite fast, so I think he goes against the myth if I'm remembering correctly?

MissCharli that's the changing table we have! And my husband's parents also got it for us! Did you get the matching wardrobe? We did; changing table is built and wardrobe is getting built today. So nice having their rooms coming along isn't it! I don't know about everyone else but I need it to put all of his things in already!

Wow you guys are amazing narrowing names down already. I find boy's names so difficult. We really can't decide on one but have our hearts set on having Dennis as a middle name as we both have Grandads called Dennis. Even harder to find names to go with though, so we haven't helped ourselves! Lol.

Tash I bought a Cath Kidston bag (as I'm a bit obsessed with their stuff!). They are pretty expensive though, so I got one at a decent price on ebay and just anti-bacterial wiped it all!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Good luck to anyone DIY-ing! xx

Lorcan is lovely, and very unusual :) I don't think I've heard it before!

Decorating is far more effort than I thought it would be. Definitely won't be doing more after this, not until we buy our own house at least!

I haven't really decided on a changing bag yet, I think I'm just gonna go with cheap and cheerful in case it gets sick/poo/juice/etc all over it!

Glad your scan went well Rose :) we got the matching cot, but the nursery has an inbuilt wardrobe so we have just got some drawers to put inside :) have you used the changing table already? Is it good?

Good luck to everyone trying to choose a name, again I didn't realise how stressful it could be :p xx

Yeah the folding top on it is really good. Looks really smart as well. We also got those little organising bowls that hang over the edge which go on it well. Did you buy baskets for the open shelf?

Yeah we got the hanging buckets too, think they're a fab idea. We didn't get any baskets, do you think we should? Would have to find some locally, cos ikea is 2hr drive away :P

MrsDuckie I did the same as you with the changing bag, looked in Cath Kidston and loved theirs but then found one on eBay that looks brand new for a fraction of the price, I think I paid about £20 rather than £80+!

I can't remember the make of Mt baby bag but one bonus is the lining zips out for washing. It is huge too which everyone slagged me for but when I had Athena I didn't have a car to have back up a in al u literally took everything in the bag. I'm going to get a smaller one this time as a back up but with 2 kids, I will need the big bag. I did manage to lose the changing mat and bottle bag somehow so had to get replacements

Also our boys name is Avery. We are deciding between Craig for Hubby's friend, Douglas for Hubby's family friend who married us and Taylor which has been a consideration for all pregnancies for first names. My little girls nmiddle name is mt best friends name so I am letting hubby pick our boys middle name.

I had the bababing change bag for my first, it is cheap and practical with pockets for everything and an insulated area for bottles and served me really well. When I had my second I obviously needed a bag big enough for two babies' things so I looked around and in the end got a pacapod but just a wipe clean type. It was reduced so was £50 but it was the biggest one they had as it fitted three pods in it - I figured I'd have a pod for each child plus a food pod. As it turns out I will now be using it as just a pod per child lol. It's been hard wearing and carries everything I need and more! I would love a leather one but it would add extra weight if you plan to carry it and really in practice no one looks at your change bag with envy in my experience! X

Thanks ladies re the name :)

MissCharli it's an old Irish name, not used very often but we didn't want another Aidan or Conor or similar. Lovely names but very much in use these days and we like older names :)

Elspeth we're hoping to move in the next 3-4 months hopefully, I can see us moving right before D-Day!

Bag wise, I have a Pink Lining bag which I absolutely love. It's done the boys so is nearly 3 years old and has been completely battered about but it still looks fantastic. The sales are such good value if you're not bothered about getting "last season", and they have really good life in them.

I'm jealous of those diy'ing today. We are in my parents anex for the next year so and can't wait to get organised but is going to need to wait till near to his arrival.

Thanks for the advise I think I'm decided on a Pacapod because of the compartments but will look for a good 2nd hand one on eBay as they are pricey.

We have decided on Fletcher for the name, it was going to by Kyomi for a girl as we love Japan but I couldn't find a Japanese boy name I loved.

Whist you lovely ladies are dishing out advise what were/are you must buys and your don't bother withs? It is all so overwhelming at times knowing what I should and shouldn't buy x

Spuds last time I heard baby's heartbeat it was 152 and I'm having a boy. His heart rate has tended to be quite fast, so I think he goes against the myth if I'm remembering correctly?

The heart rate here was 150 so according to the myth of above 140 being a girl, I was starting to wonder and you've confirmed that the myth is just that but having a boy at 152! Excellent work Mrs Duckie (as I am secretly hoping it's a boy although I don't really mind).

Just been trying to get my head around ISOfix car seats. It's a blood minefield out there! I think have now finally worked out what I need, it's just a case of finding a second hand base!

Whilst it is a lot of money, then your changing bag will be your constant companion for the next 2 years and will get a lot of wear.
(I didn't feel guilty about buying one full price but all well and good if you can get what you want for a fraction of the price :) ).

I have a pacapod too and still really like it and it has worn well.
These days i tend to go out with a back pack on days out, as i don't really use a pram anymore and it is really practical.
I've obviously gone past caring what i look like!!

Glad to hear your scan went well Mrs Duckie.

All these boys names are wonderful.
I will definitely be looking on here for inspiration. Hope you don't mind.

Kumber, we'll be moving mid July. It's bad timing but desperate to be moved before baby arrives. I hope the two of us get to nest in our new homes.

Agreed there is so much stuff out there Tasha.
I never really went in for the pricey things like those sleepyhead mattresses but some people swear by them. Any specific things you have in mind?
I remember there was a thread on this topic a few months back, might be worth trying to find it.

Xx

Here is 24 +2 week bump.
Definitely feels it gets bigger by the day these days.

Xx

Wow beautiful, beautiful bumps Rose and Elspeth!

Tasha, I have a polka dot Kath Kidston changing bag, got it half price during a sale, still love it and will be using again with new baby xx I agree with Elspeth, it will be your constant companion for a long time, so I wouldn't be afraid to invest in one if you feel it will suit and serve you best! xx

I am in similar situation with you Elspeth and Kumber, hoping to move to new bigger house early July. Might sound and feel crazy as it will be too close to new baby's arrival, but...what can we do...we have to! Have found the house, but haven't signed the contracts yet and sellers moved the goalpost for the move from mid May to early July. Fingers crossed there won't be another delay or else we'd be unable to move until after baby is born (don't want to even think about this scenario!) Fingers crossed for all of us! For quick and smooth moves to better nests for our little ones xx

Spuds, our fetal heart rate is 148 BPM and he is a (100% chromosomally confirmed through Harmony) boy ;) xx

Happy Sunday August mamas and mamas to be xx

Wow that's a fab bump Elspeth :)

Yep I am on the look out for a secondhand maxicosi easyfix base Spuds. It's about one of the only ones that will go in my car! Who knew it would be so difficult and complicated haha.
